Mr. & Mrs. Tyler Morgan Sounds crazy to even say 2020, but here we are My Friends! I feel as if 2019 just flew by Mr. & Mrs. Ryan Heath us. Crazy weather, lots of rain, lots of heat, but we still flourished as a Club. In looking Mr. & Mrs. Griffin Heath back over 2019, we accomplished quite a bit. Renovations in the Bar and Grille area, new carpet and paint throughout the Clubhouse, new Club furniture, bunkers on all 3 nines Mr. & Mrs. Larry Iwanski re-furbished, new asphalt in all parking areas, new pool pump and still the list goes on. So, Mr. Kyle Wright I say “Thank You” to our Members for your patience, while we continue to try and make Mr. Brady Johnson CCC the best Club that it can be. Mr. & Mrs. Dan Deem We had a great year in Membership as well, 162 New Members joined in 2019. That’s Mr. Scott Toth roughly 13 New Members a month. One of the reasons I love our Club is that our Members are so good at making New Members feel welcome. As mentioned in the past, some join as Mr. & Mrs. Cameron Brown widowed, single or young families with little ones looking to make friends and some join Mr. Mike Harris looking to find golfing buddies. I see these relationships form all the time, and it warms my Ms. Kelley Lee heart, because this is what it’s all about. Getting involved in your community and getting to Mr. & Mrs. Michael Pelzer know your neighbors, and I feel CCC is a great way to make that happen. Mr. Willy Kitata I love all the new events we’ve been having, and I’m looking forward to all the ones we have planned for 2020. These events are “For You”. It’s a chance to meet fellow Members, have Mrs. Judy Motley your children meet other children and form a sense of family and comradery. Be sure to Mr. & Mrs. Mark Schocken check your emails, I know you may receive quite a few, but they are informative and let Mr. & Mrs. Stanley Kruk you know exactly what’s coming up and taking place in the Club. We have a full calendar Mr. Scott Sipperley for 2020 so keep your eyes peeled. For example, and just to name a few; in January, we will have our Annual Member Appreciation Party on the 7th and our New Member Mixer on Ms. Bobbi Ottman the 31st; in February, we will have a Super Bowl Party on the 2nd, a Valentine’s Day Kids’ Mr. & Mrs. James Mason Craft Event on the 13th and our Valentine’s Day Dinner Dance on the 14th. We will also Ms. Hattie Baez do the S’mores n’ More at the Fire Pit again on the 29th. We are planning a Seafood Night on the 13th of March, our Couples’ Leprechaun Golf Scramble on the 15th and Family Mr. & Mrs. Donald Lehnhoff Fun Festival on the 21st; in April, we will have our Easter Brunch & Egg Hunt on the Mr. Chris Eagan 12th and our Men’s Member Guest Tournament starting on the 23rd. In May we will have Mr. & Mrs. Dennis Kubica our Morning Star Doubles Tennis Tournament on the 1st, our Couples’ Cinco de Mayo Mr. & Mrs. Carter Hatch Golf Scramble and then the Cinco de Mayo Family Fiesta all on the 5th; we will also have a Mother’s Day Kids’ Craft Event on the 7th and a Murder Mystery Nine ‘n’ Dine on the Mr. & Mrs. Carlos Caballero 29th of May. Needless to say, as you can see, there is plenty to choose from as far as your Mr. & Mrs. KC Finster interest and we look forward to always seeing you come out and enjoy. So, keep an eye out Mr. & Mrs. Tom Blake for those emails and calendars. Mr. & Mrs. David Wertz I would like to say “Thank You” to all who were able to participate in our 2019 Ambassador Mr. & Mrs. Dennis Gauvin Program Contest. Being that it is only the 11th of December as I’m writing this, we do not know exactly who the winner will be, but you all have been great at bringing Friends and Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Yoder Family to the Club and sharing with them what CCC is all about. Keep in mind we always Mr. & Mrs. Charles Carroll have in place our MSM Program, Members Sponsoring Members, where if you refer a New Mr. & Mrs. Byron Smith Member you will receive one month equal their dues and even possibly lower your own Mr. & Mrs. Shawn Ryan monthly dues. Here’s to welcoming in 2020 and all of the great things happening at your Club this year! Before getting too far into the New Year, I would like to thank all of you for making 2019 such a huge success for us here in Food & Beverage at CCC. There were many changes taking place last year to polish the level of service and food quality to exceed your expectations. In the Dining Room last year, we brought in Boar’s Head Meats and Cheeses, which has been a huge hit with the Membership. We had a few server trainings to raise the level of service, and we brought in a higher quality of beefs. From our burgers to our prime rib, we have elevated the level of quality from our vendor. The Dining Room also got a full face-lift including all new tables and chairs…twice. Haha! So, while last year was a year for polishing and elevating, this year will Join us for our be a year of perfecting.

    Athletic Directors in Maryland’s Public and Private Secondary Schools Sponsored by Game On, Crown Trophy, Daktronics, Digital Sports, Leisure Fitness and Musco Lighting Spring 2009 www.msada-md.org President’s Message The 33rd annual MSADA conference was a big success. Many records were established at this conference. We had the highest number of attendees, the greatest number of vendors, and the most people ever to take the Certified Athletic Administrator (CAA) exam. Two counties (Washington and Cecil) had 100% attendance by their athletic directors. We offered seven Leadership Training Courses (LTC) during the conference. Although not a record, it is still impressive that so many LTC classes are available at one state conference. We had outstanding guest speakers and presenters at the conference. Ms. Suzanne Maxey gave a beautiful speech at our General Session meeting. Andy Pollin, radio personality and author, gave an insightful talk at the awards banquet. Dr. David Higgins made a fascinating Jim Tapley, CAA presentation about his experiences as a doctor with the U.S.A. Olympic team. We also had interesting workshops done by Dr. David Hoch, CMAA; Michael Duffy, CMAA; Jack Holloway, and Mike Gelman, CMAA. The discussion panel workshop was also outstanding. We had athletic administrators from across Maryland and Delaware share their thoughts about current issues. And of course, Matt O’Hare, CAA, our Master of Ceremonies for the awards banquet, took full credit for the wonderful weather we had throughout the weekend! This year was our first attempt at having a joint conference with Delaware. I want to thank DAAD Executive Director, Bradley Layfield, for his efforts in making things go smoothly.

Miller” Contributed by William Ripley Harrison“* On March 28, 1881, William Gregory Harrison, a young farmer, summed up the activities of a day that had turned from rain to snow by noting; “Nothing of much importance was done here. We sat in the house and hoped for better times.” This laconic comment is typical of the young man’s daily journal. He was rarely concerned with events beyond his immediate en- vironment. His journal is filled with the day-to-day minutae of living and the comings and goings on a typical central Indiana farm of the 1880s. Life was filled with work, obviously hard, yet it was also filled with diversity and, also obviously, had its rewards. The Harrisons of Morgan County were unrelated to the most famous Harrison family of Indiana, that of William Henry and Benjamin Harrison. William Gregory’s grandfather, Wil- liam Harrison, was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Edu- cated into the ministry, he became a teacher instead and fol- lowed that vocation in Ohio, Louisiana, Tennessee, and Ken- tucky. In 1820 he married a young Ohio widow, Martha Hitch- cock.’ William and Martha had six children: William Ripley, * Roger G. Miller is assistant editor of the Indiana Magazine of History.     For Most A Happy Ending ush week-1950-brought a period of annual. activity to the R University when some 900 prospective sorority and fratern- ity pledges were on the campus for the September 3-8 festivities. For the sorority rushees, activities began Sunday at 4 p.m. with registration at the women's quadrangle . Sunday evening and Monday were spent in attending open house of each of the 12 sororities. The following three days were filled with rush parties, climaxed Friday by bid house and dinner parties given by the sororities for their new pledges. Fraternity rushees registered in the Union lobby Monday . Preferential breakfasts and parties followed Tuesday morning. Activities ended for the new pledges Friday evening at bid house in the University amphitheater . Numerically, the rushees hit a new high and low this year. Approximately 400 co-eds went through rush week activities-a marked increase over past years-with a total of 309 pledging sororities . Fraternity rush registration dwindled to 425-the lowest since World War 11-with 412 men being pledged to the 23 Uni- versity fraternities. The 1950 pledges found they weren't the only additions to the campus-two sorority houses also made a debut at autumn rush. The Gamma Phi Beta sorority made their initial bid for pledges in a two-story ranch style house of sandstone and red- wood flanked on the southwest by a large patio. Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity is occupying their former home. Next door to Gamma Phi's is the new Alpha Chi Omega so- rority house of brick and stone which brings a touch of modernistic architecture to the campus.
