ADDENDUM TO NOTE-WORTHY MUSIC STAMPS, PART 17 - 2007 ISSUES

GUINEA. Three souvenir sheets issued November 19, 2007 honoring Mozart, Beethoven, and Chopin. Each sheet features a portrait of the composer, with additional illustrations on the stamp and on the sheet. Musical excerpts also appear in the background of each sheet. The Mozart excerpt, which is continued on the stamp itself (Figure 1), is unidentified at present. The Beethoven sheet (Figure 2) contains a facsimile from the autograph manuscript of the first movement of his Sonata for Violoncello and Piano, op. 69. This manuscript might be called a composing score, somewhat between a sketch and a Stichvorlage (the final manuscript prior to the printed edition). The page here is printed upside down on the sheet. The Chopin sheet (Figure 3) contains the first page of his Scherzo for piano, op. 20, no. 1, in B minor.
