What: 10-Day Study Tour: Milan, Italy (including , Italy)

When: Dates: May 22 – 31, 2016 (Between spring and summer terms 2016)

Academic Plan: 1. Participate in preparation series during spring 2016 2. Travel & tour 3. Complete written assignments

Enrollment: Enroll in HDCS 4398 or GRET 6398 (summer session)

GPA Requirement: 2.5 (undergraduates); 3.0 (graduates)

Day 2 – Monday, May 23 – Arrival in Milan, Italy • Lunch on your own • Milan tour: Business walk along • Evening: Social Dinner 1 – Location and time TBA

Day 3 – Tuesday, May 24 • Breakfast and meeting at the hotel • Theatre Museum visit, Galleria Vittorio Emanuel (stop at store), (outside only) and Duomo roof by elevator, and Santa Maria delle Grazie () • Lunch on your own • Dinner on your own and evening free

Day 4 – Wednesday, May 25 • Breakfast and meeting at the hotel • Morning: Brian & Barry Department Store Visit (multicategory department store) • Lunch: On your own • Afternoon – Montenapoleone Fashion District Tour (luxury district) and Store • Dinner: On their own and evening free

Day 5 – Thursday, • Breakfast and meeting at the hotel

• Morning: Corso Fashion District Tour and 10 Corso Como Concept Store Visit (fashion and design) • Lunch: On your own: Eataly Store (Food consept) (with selected stores) • Afternoon: High-Tech Store Visit (design store) • Social Dinner 2 – Location TBA

Day 6 – Friday, May 27 – Trip to Florence by train • Breakfast at hotel • Train to Florence (2 hours) • Lunch: On your own • Afternoon: Museum (luxury brand museum) & city overview • Evening – free

Expenses: Covered in Tour Fee $3,621 Airfare – roundtrip from Houston

Additional Student Expenses Meals other than 3 group dinners and breakfasts at the hotel Personal expenditures beyond items above (snacks, additional transportation or sightseeing, souvenirs, etc.) Travel and medical insurance (arranged through UH) Mobile phone international costs (roaming) Ground transportation about 70 Euros (i.e. trains, subways) (transportation other than airfares) Gratuities (other than for group meals)n $50 UH identification card fee $50 insurance Passport cost of $110 covered by the University if students do not have a passport. They will be responsible for any Visa expense if they need one (foreign students may need a visa if their home country needs a visa to go to Italy)

Note: A decision has been made that all students participating in the trip must travel to Italy with the group. In select circumstances, students may pre-arrange to remain in Italy at their own cost (with no reduction for return airfare not used) after the ending date. The price for the trip will not be adjusted.

Airline points may not be used for this trip. The cost of air travel is included in the trip fee.
