Executive Summary Washington’s state parks provide a myriad of benefits to both urban and rural environments and nearby residents. Green spaces within state parks provide direct benefits to the populations living in close proximity. For example, the forests within state parks provide outdoor recreational opportunities, and they also help to store water and control flooding during heavy rainfalls, improve air quality, and regulate the local climate.
