TO COPY LEADERSHIP SUMMARY Dear Saint Joe Family and Friends, What a year this has been! Who could have foreseen the many changes we would face in our community and across the world when the 2019-20 academic year commenced last August? As we launched the year with the theme Reach Higher, we had no idea how much reaching would be required. The unanticipated challenges that we have faced collectively have required uncommon flexibility and resilience. Last spring, as the coronavirus pandemic approached the Midwest and instruction moved online, our teachers, students, and community rose to the challenge. By all accounts, our students and teachers pivoted beautifully to the new reality of extended eLearning. Faculty rallied together to share tools, tips, and guidance on emerging technologies, demonstrating that learning is a lifelong process. The successful transition was aided by the fact that every Saint Joseph High School student receives a school-issued laptop and that we provided mobile hotspots to students who lacked reliable internet access at home. Not only did we preserve our tradition of academic excellence and high OUR MISSION standards, we did it with equity so that all students remained engaged and connected. Saint Joseph High School Of course, the pandemic affected more than our schools. The economic downturn caused many of our families is a Catholic secondary school to experience a loss of income. As families began reporting financial hardship, we launched a Tuition Angel fund to make up the difference. Thanks to an immediate and generous outpouring of support from faithful dedicated to transforming donors, we were able to meet 100% of the need for emergency tuition assistance, and enrollment has students in heart and mind, remained steady. preparing them to serve God, As the spring semester progressed, seniors started to grieve the loss of the very traditions that alumni recall the Church, and the world. so fondly. In response, we created the 2020 Senior Parade, in which faculty decorated their cars with inspirational messages and delivered a Class of 2020 t-shirt, personalized poster, and yard sign to every single senior. In July, in order to allow all families to participate, we held back-to-back Baccalaureate Masses. Then, after a long wait and thanks to the beautiful and spacious Leighton Stadium, we celebrated a memorable Commencement. The students and families cherished the outpouring of love and the sense of community as we culminated their four years at Saint Joe. Sadly, the pandemic has forced the closure of over 100 Catholic schools across our country. Thanks to the consistent and generous commitment of supporters like you, Saint Joseph High School remains in a strong financial position, and continues to provide an exemplary Catholic education. We are confident that, with the continued investment of our generous community, our beloved school will continue to thrive for generations to come. Thank you for your commitment to Saint Joseph High School. We could not do what we do without your support. Together, we are making a difference. Thank you for helping us to Reach Higher.
