9 RESISTANCETO DUST, SOLID OBJECTSANDMOISTURE b 9.2 Testsfor ingress of dust, solidobjects and moisture: ¾ - classification accordingto IP...... :IP65 ¾ -mountingpositionduringtest ...... :As normal use ¾ -electric strengthtest afterwards 1554V P 9.2.2 IP6X test: No talcum in dust-tightluminaire P Dust-proof luminaires (first characteristic Ipnumeral 6) shall betested in a dust chamber similar to that shownin Figure 6, inwhich talcum powder is maintainedin sus-Pensionbyanair current.The chamber shall contain 2 kg ofpowder for every cubicmetre of its volume.The talcum powder used shallbe able to pass through a square-meshed sievewhose nominalwire diameteris 50 m andwhose nominal freedistancebetweenwires is 75 m. It shallnot havebeenusedformore than 20 tests. The test shallproceed as follows: a)The luminaireis suspended outsidethedust chamber and operated at rated supplyvoltage untiloperating temperature is achieved. b)The luminaire,whilst stilloperating, is placed withtheminimum disturbance in the dust chamber. c)The door of thedust chamber is closed. d)Thefan/blower causing the talcum powderto bein suspension is switched on. e)After 1 min, theluminaireis switchedoff and allowed to coolfor 3hwhilst the talcum powder remains in suspension . 9.2.6 IPX5 test: Withoutwater insideenclosure P Jet-proof luminaires (second characteristic IP numeral 5) are switched off andimmediately subjected to awaterjetfor15min from all directionsbymeans of a hose havinganozzle withthe shape anddimensions shown in Figure 8.The nozzle shallbeheld3m awaythe sample. Thewater pressure at thenozzle shallbeadjusted to achieveawater delivery rate of12,5 l/min 5 % (approximately30kN/m2).
