NOTICE TO RESIDENTS

EXCESSIVE RAINFALL EXPECTED

Please be advised that Environment Canada is predicting a major storm to hit our area this afternoon, bringing 25 to 50 mm of rain for Thursday, February 20, 2014 and Friday, February 21, 2014.

According to Environment Canada, an Alberta clipper and Texas low will be tracking towards the Great Lakes today where they will merge and rapidly intensify. This storm system will bring rising temperatures to Southern Ontario, along with significant precipitation and strong winds. The Niagara-Hamilton corridor could experience the highest amounts of rainfall.

Town staff are currently clearing roadside catch basins and storm sewers. Please help by removing snow, ice and debris from catch basins and culverts to allow proper flow of water and remove snow around basement windows and downspouts. Please do not place snow or ice on municipal roads.

For sanitary sewer back-up or water over road issues, please call the Public Works Department at 905-468-3278.

For downed power lines, please call Niagara-on-the-Lake Hydro at 905-468-4235.

For all emergency and life-threatening situations, please call 911.
