GREENE MEMORIAL STADIUM Washington, DC • 1 PM Game Day DELAWARE UNIVERSITY (HORNETS) 2-7 VS HOWARD UNIVERSITY (BISON) 1-7 THE GAME: This is a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference match-up between the Hornets of Delaware State and the Bison of Howard University. The Hornets (2-7, 2-4 MEAC) are coming off a 23-0 home loss to Hampton University last Satur- day. The Bison (1-7, 0-5 MEAC) dropped a 31-28 home decision to Florida A&M University two weeks ago for their fifth straight loss. Date: Saturday, November 1, 2014 Location: William H. SERIES RECORD: Delaware State edged Howard, 22-20 on a late field goal in Dover. The Bison prevailed 41-34 at Howard in 2012. The last three games between them have been decided by a total of 12 points. The Hornets lead the series, 36-33-1. THE COACHES: DSU is coached by Kermit Blount (WSSU, ‘80), who is in his fourth season and has a 16-25 record to date. Blount, who served as an assistant coach at Howard University from 1984-89 under Willie Jeffries, has a 107-112-3 overall record in 21-plus years as a head coach. Howard is coached by Gary “Flea” Harrell (Howard, ’94), who is in his third year and has a 13-17 record to date. NEXT UP: Delaware State gets a bye next week before hosting Florida A&M on November 15 at 2 pm. The Bison travel to Savannah, GA to take on the Tigers of Savannah State next Saturday at 6 pm. STATISTICAL LEADERS DELAWARE STATE: Rushing: Malcolm Williams, 100 carries, 375 yards, 2 TDs Passing: Gilbert Rivera, 95 of 188 passing, 898 yards, 6 TDs Receiving: Milton Williams,III 40 receptions, 485 yards, 4 TDs Tackles: Davon Moore, 68 tackles, 2 interceptions HOWARD UNIVERSITY: Rushing: Greg McGhee, 120 carries, 595 yards, 9 TDs Passing: Greg McGhee: 152 of 283, 1,607 yards, 8 TDs Receiving: Matt Colvin, 30 receptions, 491 yards Tackles: Devin Rollins, 81 tackles, 6.0 for losses, 2.0 sacks PRODUCTIVE CAREER: McGhee is one of only a few FCS quarterbacks who has over 2,300 yards rushing and over 6,800 passing. The native of Pittsburgh, Pa is closing in on the MEAC and school record, held by Ted White of 9,846 yards of total offense for a career. He needs 711 yards to break the record. SCOUTING THE HORNETS: DSU leads the MEAC in pass defense, allowing only 131 yards per game. The Hornets are third in total defense. Michael Williams is 2nd in the MEAC in receiving yards per game. Moore is 5th in total tackles. Is third in the MEAC in total defense. After scoring a season-high 35 points in a win over Savannah State, DSU has averaged only 10.0 points in its last four games, including last week’s shutout. On the season, the Hornets have been outscored 168-66 in the first half of games. DSU has had problems rushing the football with only 4 TDs rushing while averaging less than three yards per carry. Game Day BISON HOOVES: McGhee leads the MEAC in total offense, is 2nd in passing and 5th in scoring. Fleck is 3rd in the MEAC in punting, Rollins is first in tackles in the MEAC and tied for 17th nationally, Brown is tied for 5th, Parker is 5th in all- purpose yards and Matt Colvin is 2nd in receiving yards per game and 7th in receptions per game. In the MEAC statistics, Howard is 2nd in first downs, 3rd in passing offense and 4th in total offense and in rushing offense.
