WHY DO FLEETS LOVE THE KONA EV SO MUCH?

f you spend enough time floating around online electric vehicle groups in New IZealand, you learn people really love the Tesla Model 3, and will challenge the price and values offered by any other electric vehicle on the New Zealand market. And to be fair, at $69,990 before rebates, the Tesla does offer a lot of car for the money. Yet fleets have largely ignored it. Instead, the most popular electric vehicle for fleets in New Zealand – by a high margin – is the humble Kona EV. One of my hopes in having one for a long-term test this year was to work out why. Why is it that a small SUV that costs around $80,000 pre-subsidy has been such a success? A total of 60 hit the road last month – anecdotally a lot of them were fleet cars – with 209 sold this year.
