The period of the remains considering all accounts of source can be placed for 14th- 15th century A.D. The State capital Itanagar is named after this brick fort of ancient capital of the hoary past. The fort in ruins is a testimony to a historic struggle against the odds, put up by the people in 'North-eastern India. The fort has two ramparts i.e. the western and eastern. The western rampart runs for almost one and half Kms. in length, and has two gates in it, the Southern Gate and Western Gate. The eastern rampart is a little more than half a Km. long and has only one entrance in it, the Eastern Gate.

Introduction Lower Subansiri district is one of the 17 administrative districts of the state of Arunachal Pradesh in north eastern India. History The district was formed when Subansiri district was bifurcated into Upper and Lower Subansiri districts in 1987. Lower Subansiri district has a long ancient history related with the Chutiya Kingdom. It was probably under Chutiya chieftain rule from a long time, and came under Birpal's rule in the 12th century. In 1999 Papum Pare district was split to form new district and this was repeated on 1 April 2001, with the creation of Kurung Kumey district. In October 2017 the state government approved the creation of Kamle district, involving the carving out of Raga, Dolungmukh and Kumpurijio circles from Lower Subansiri district. Geography The district headquarters are located at Ziro. The district occupies an area of 3,460 km² It is bounded on the north by the Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal, on the south by Papum Pare District of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam, on the east by West Siang and some part of Upper Subansiri, and on the west by East Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh. Divisions There are 6 administrative circles in this district, namely, Ziro (Sadar), Yachuli, Pistana, Raga, Kamporijo and Dollungmukh. The district also divided into 3 blocks: Ziro-I, Ziro-II and Tamen-Raga. There are 2 Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly constituencies located in this district: Yachuli and Ziro-Hapoli. Both of these are part of Arunachal West Lok Sabha constituency. Demographics According to the 2011 census Lower Subansiri district has a population of 82,839, roughly equal to the nation of Andorra.[6] This gives it a ranking of 623rd in India (out of a total of 640).The district has a population density of 24 inhabitants per square kilometre (62/sq mi) .

Black Bear, Red Panda, Civet cat and many varieties of birds and butterflies. • Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary 43.00km2 North Sikkim Lachung Valley, known for its alpine meadow and hot spring. R. niveum the state tree of Sikkim endemic here. • Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary 35.34km2 Located in South Sikkim exceedingly rich in R. griffithianum and R. dalhousiae with some other species • Kyongnpsla Alpine Sanctuary 31.00km2 Located on the way of Nathula. The state tree of Sikkim (R. niveum) has been introduced here • Singalila National Park 78.60km2 With other rhododendrons an undergrowth of R. arboretum, R. falconeri, R. hodgosonii and R. grande. • Neora National Park 88.00 Well known for the rhododendron, most of the rhododendrons are disappearing. List of Members who attended in the meeting is appended at Annexure-A At the very outset Shri Pige Ligu, D.C cum Chairman DLMC while initiating the meeting welcomed all members and explained the importance of conducting the DLMC meeting. Shri M.Karga. DPO cum Member Secretary informed the house that as per Govt. directives the DLMC meeting is to be convened quarterly to know the actual progress of the works implemented under SPA, RIDF, NEC, NLCPR, ACA, SCA, PM's Package etc.on regular basis in the District. He also informed that besides the review of the progress of works the members are required to give their views/suggestions on any other observations which may req~ire the attention of higher authorities. The Deputy Commissioner asked respective implementing Departments to place the up to date physical and financial achievement of the projects implemented under various programmes in Papum Pare District for the year, 2008-09 to 2010-11 in Department wise. Accordingly, a]] the executing departments presented status report of the works executed by them. The Deputy Commissioner insisted on all executing departments to maintain speedy implementation of works and complete the projects in time.
