Not for the faint of heart due to The Dead Room and other evils, both criminal and legal, but a book The Dead Room still think is important to read and think about. Jun 01, Maddy rated it it was amazing Shelves: topsreads. I just read an ending that blew me away. After reading far too many weak resolutions, it was totally awesome to read one that really worked! All my conclusions about The Dead Room that had been formed up until the last chapter were turned around. The character that I thought was disposed of too conveniently? I was wrong. The person that I found to be inconsistent? The motivations of some of the more likable characters? Thank you, Robert Ellis, for breaking the mold and developing an ending that really worked. But perhaps you'd like to know something about what happens in the book. A The Dead Room woman who is enamored of her own body has been teasing the mailman, allowing an "accidental" glimpse here, a fleeting glance there. When she is found brutally murdered, he is the only suspect, as the forensic evidence is incontrovertible—his finger and lip prints are all over her body, her blood all over his clothing. When Oscar Holmes confesses, it's time to lock him in jail and throw away the key. For some reason, a very well-connected lawyer wants to defend him against the charge and assigns one of the young attorneys on his staff to the case, a real estate lawyer by the name of Teddy Mack. Teddy has consciously decided not to pursue a career The Dead Room criminal law as the result of a horrible incident in his family's past but has to follow the big man's directive or risk his future in the practice. There are other victims who have suffered horrible deaths, so it appears that Oscar is a serial killer of the worst sort. Against all odds, Teddy decides that Oscar is innocent. To put it mildly, everyone thinks that he is out of his mind, including the defendant, who had a black-out incident during the murder but who does believe that he The Dead Room it. Teddy is helped in his case The Dead Room a renegade legal expert by the name of Nash who specializes in taking old cases and having them investigated by his students. He has a high success rate at having the cases retried and finding the original target innocent. Teddy also works with the assistant district attorney, Carolyn Powell, The Dead Room is less willing to believe but who is at least open to talking about the incongruities that Teddy uncovers. She is very loyal to her boss, a real no-holds-barred type who loves to embarrass and humiliate his opponents. What Ellis does wonderfully well is to engross The Dead Room reader in the narrative and make it impossible to put down. There are scenes which will make you angry, others that will leave you shaking your head, but you will want to finish the book even if it seems at times to have conflicting information. What I initially thought was the resolution of the book, and an unsatisfactory one at that, was not really a resolution at all. Ellis uses a device where he fast forwards 6 years after the culminating The Dead Room, and it is only then that we see the true horror of the situation. The book will leave you shaking your head in amazement that you didn't see the truth all along. The Dead Room there were a few areas that were not well done, notably an explicit sex scene, the book held up to this reviewer's microscope. Warning: there are a few graphic scenes The Dead Room may be difficult for more sensitive readers. View 2 comments. Jun 08, Lela rated it liked it. At one point, as I commented, my heart was pounding and I couldn't turn the pages quickly enough. But, then, the story lost steam. It didn't bog down exactly, just slowed. The ending was much less satisfactory than the middle. Okay, that said, the idea was great and The Dead Room and convoluted. The characters were were well developed and interesting and flawed - sometimes too flawed with the flaws too obvious. The last few chapters took away from the excite At one The Dead Room, as I commented, my heart was pounding and I couldn't turn the pages quickly enough. The last few chapters took away from the excitement and interest rather than adding to them. However, there is talent here. I did enjoy this book - just less so by the end. Aug 16, Michael rated it liked it Shelves: suspensemysterythriller. I guess it deserves 3 stars On one hand, it certainly wasn't one of the worst books I'd ever read. Competently written. Not a ton of typos. Everything more or less makes sense-- or, well, is explained -- by the end of the book. It even goes beyond the "usual fare" of the genre and tries to make The Dead Room think. I simply didn't really enjoy the reading-- not to the point that I'd recommend it to a random reader. For some I guess it deserves 3 stars For someone who can't get enough of legal thrillers, yes, I'd recommend it. The Dead Room by Robert Ellis

No, there's no cheating The audio was okay, but only okay. I had a hard time following the story because the author's narrative voice didn't give enough distinction to which characters were speaking. Also Review of Audio CDs 3 'intriguing, thrilling story, and restless spirits' stars! Also, I had a The Dead Room time picking The Dead Room from where I would leave off because chapter changes were not noted. Maybe this has to do with it being abridged as opposed to unabridged. The Dead Room would definitely recommend the print or ebook over the audio book. View all 14 comments. Dec 27, Vanessa rated it really liked it Shelves: hbmystery-thriller. I was having a little difficulty deciding on 3 or 4 stars for this book. I leaned towards the four because, for me it was an easy and fast read. Once I reached the middle of the book, I finished the rest in almost one sitting, and the whole book in a 24 hour period. I also liked Joe, Leslie, Nikki, and Adam. I did care what happened to them and for me, the action moved pretty fast. I wish Adam and Nikki would have been The Dead Room more and ha I was having a little difficulty deciding on 3 or 4 stars for this book. I wish Adam and Nikki would have been developed more and had a larger part in the story. I got a little confused with the other characters. A couple times, I had to re-read previous pages to remember who they were. Also, there were some characters left hanging out in the wind, so to speak, and I would have really liked some closure there. The ending was a mixed bag for me. I liked the suspense, but when the killer was revealed, it just didn't make any sense to me. The motive behind the killings could really have applied to almost all of the secondary characters, along with the means and opportunity. What did make sense to me was The Dead Room twist at the end that, normally, I just wouldn't care for. But the way the story was written, that part seemed logical to The Dead Room. Overall though, it was fun read and I enjoyed it. She's a first time author for me, and I will definitely be checking out some of her other books. View all 3 comments. Also in that area, woman, mostly prostitutes are disappearing. Leslie meets her Matt's cousin, Joe, who is investigating the disappearance The Dead Room one young woman. Together, they team up to keep Leslie safe and solve the mystery. The Dead Room Graham keeps up her paranormal mysteries with this book. If you haven't read her previous books that have people from Harrison Investigations, you might get a little confused when characters are brought in. Overall, this is a nice quick read mystery that ties our world to the world beyond. However, it does have a surprise ending that some might not like. Spooky cellars, ghosts, a historic house, handsome hero and exciting ending. This story had these elements and more. A good way to spend reading time. However, just a few minor things bothered my enjoyment Leslie kept wanting to see her dead boyfriend Matt. Almost every other page she would feel a presence and think it was him. Finally, when she did talk with him, she chose to ignore his warnings. How stupid can you be? And she constantly The Dead Room into danger. The other pro Spooky cellars, ghosts, a historic house, handsome hero and exciting ending. The other problem I had with this book is the way the author used dialogue between the characters. I found some of The Dead Room to be The Dead Room to moving the story ahead, it was mostly chit-chat. She's The Dead Room this in other books as well so I should be prepared for it but it still took me away from the story. The Dead Room ending wasn't what I was expecting though it makes sense. I The Dead Room convinced at the convenience of it all, though. Aug 24, Jaime rated it liked it Shelves: seriesThe Dead Room, romance-paranormal. I have sort of mixed feelings about this book. Regardl I have sort of mixed feelings about this book. Regardless, I did find myself pulled into this story and wondering just who was trying to kill Leslie, what happened to Genevieve and the other girls, and who was the real target, Matt or Leslie? I liked Joe a lot, even if his morals were a little over the top. View 2 comments. May 16, Leisa Hiser rated it it was ok. I was really disappointed at The Dead Room end because the book builds up to Leslie and Joe becoming a couple after Matt's death and then she died!
