GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 1397 TO BE ANSWERED ON THE 2nd DECEMBER, 2014/AGRAHAYANA 11, 1936 (SAKA) CYBER CRIMES 1397. SHRI NINONG ERING: Will the Minister of HOME AFFAIRS be pleased to state: (a) whether cyber crimes are on the increase in the country; (b) if so, whether the Government proposes to bring a new law to curb this crime and give more facilities to police and investigation agencies; and (c) if so, the details thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS (SHRI HARIBHAI PARATHIBHAI CHAUDHARY) (a) to (c): Yes Madam. The data of State/UT wise cases registered, persons arrested during the last three year under IT Act is attached at Annexure. The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, the nodal Ministry overseeing the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the amended Act 2008 is monitoring the Cyber related issues and the amended Act comprehensively addresses all forms of cyber crimes and is in line with the similar Acts enacted in other countries. Government has undertaken measures to intensively train the police and judicial officers in the area of investigation of cyber crimes and digital evidence. Cyber crime cells have been set up in various States of the country. The training and investigation labs have also been set up in various parts of the country including the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D), National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), State Governments and Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DeitY) are working together to train police officers in the area of cyber crime investigation and digital evidence to effectively address the issues of cyber crimes. ***** Annexure referred in reply to part (a) of LSUSQ No. 1397 regarding ‘Cyber Crimes’ due for answer on 02-12-2014 Annexure State/UT wise Cases Registered(CR) and Persons Arrested(PAR) under IT Act and related section of IPC under Cyber Crime during 2011-2013 2011 2012 2013 Sl.
