SHRI NINONG ERING: Will the Minister of HOME AFFAIRS be pleased to state: (a) whether cyber crimes are on the increase in the country; (b) if so, whether the Government proposes to bring a new law to curb this crime and give more facilities to police and investigation agencies; and (c) if so, the details thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS (SHRI HARIBHAI PARATHIBHAI CHAUDHARY) (a) to (c): Yes Madam. The data of State/UT wise cases registered, persons arrested during the last three year under IT Act is attached at Annexure. The Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, the nodal Ministry overseeing the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the amended Act 2008 is monitoring the Cyber related issues and the amended Act comprehensively addresses all forms of cyber crimes and is in line with the similar Acts enacted in other countries. Government has undertaken measures to intensively train the police and judicial officers in the area of investigation of cyber crimes and digital evidence. Cyber crime cells have been set up in various States of the country. The training and investigation labs have also been set up in various parts of the country including the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
