The Royal Dilemma Aman Dharia

Once upon a , before the Gods, in Greece there were . The Titans were evil sons of Gaea and Ouranos. The Titans gave birth to the Gods. Kronos, the king of Titans, gave birth to the big three, Zues, , and . Kronos, ate his children but the Gods’s mother gave Kronos a rock to eat instead of Zues. Later in the there was a war between the Gods and the Titans. cut Kronos in half with his scythe and Poseidon and Hades being immortal survived completely undigested. The Gods won the war. Now the Gods could not decide who should be king. That is the Royal Dilemma!

They decided to settle it with a few challenges. First was sword fighting. All the swords were . They parried, jabbed, slashed, and hacked for days and days. The other Gods were getting a bit bored of watching the same thing for a whole year. That round Poseidon won having gotten three direct hits on both of them. First Zeus once then Hades three , then Zeus two more times. No one was able to lay a finger on Poseidon. He was declared the winner of round one.

Round two was archery. They shot arrows for another year. Now the other Gods were getting really bored. Zues got a bullseye every single time. Page 1 The Royal Dilemma Aman Dharia

Hades missed fifty and Poseidon only got one on the board. It wasn’t looking bright for Hades. Since Zues never missed he was declared the winner of round two.

Round three was chariot racing. They forged chariots so big they needed an elephant to pull it. They were made mostly out of wood but there was some metal as well. Each chariot had a few special powers. Poseidon’s chariot was very different. It was a lot smaller than the other chariots. Poseidon created a new creature called a horse to pull his chariot. His chariot shot javelins, had a metal pole attached to the front, and swords sticking out from each side to destroy any other chariot that came close.

Zues’s chariot was the biggest of them all. It was so big it needed an elephant to pull it. His chariot was all wood except the reins. Zues had made an automatic bow and arrow system. Every thirty seconds swords jutted out of the sides. He threw javelins and steered the chariot at the same time.

“Hades’s chariot was big but not as big as Zues’s chariot. His chariot was metal. His chariot was designed to go long distances, not fast. His chariot had no weaponry. He had a metal pole to block other chariots, but he had to steer at the same time. That was Hades’s chariot.

The race was around the perimeter of Greece. The race took only five days though. Whenever someone came close to Poseidon, there chariot got destroyed so they had to make a new one. Nobody went close to Zues either since he shot arrows and threw javelins if anyone came in range. Nobody could come near each other without getting destroyed. Poseidon was the fastest since he was the smallest. Horses were surprisingly fast too. Poseidon won the race since he made it to the end first and broke his chariot only twice which was the least amount of everybody in the race.

The fourth challenge was foot racing. It was around Greece too. They ran a lot before the race they sweat so much they made a pool of sweat. When race day came they were all really fast. Zues trained a lot more than the others and he was hoping it would pay off. It did pay off too! He ran and never stopped for a break. Soon he

Page 3 The Royal Dilemma Aman Dharia had left Poseidon and Hades in the dust. Zues ran faster than he had gone in the chariot race! He won since he made it to the end first.

Hades had officially lost since he had won zero and there was one out of five challenges left. Zues and Poseidon were tied so it came down to the last challenge. Hades was not going to participate because if he won it would be tied.

Challenge five was a cake eating contest. A lot of cakes were set out and whoever ate the most in five minutes would win. The cakes were really big. The timer started and it was really messy in there. Poseidon ate three cakes and Zues ate three and one slice of cake.

It was a really close game but Zues had won in the end! Zues was officially the king of the Gods! Poseidon got the sea and Hades was banished to the to control the dead.
