SVENSK MYKOLOGISK TIDSKRIFT 37:2 (2016) 1 Svamppresentationer Svensk Mykologisk Tidskrift 37 (2):2–7 2016 Lejonsopp Xerocomus moravicus ‒ nu återfunnen på Öland Tommy Knutsson & Johan Nitare ABSTRACT Xerocomus moravicus rediscovered on the island of Öland, SE Sweden. Xerocomus moravicus (Vacek) Herink [syn. Xerocomus leonis (D.A. Reid) Alessio, Aureoboletus moravicus (Vacek) Klofac] has been rediscovered on the island of Öland, SE Sweden. The spe- cies is presented as new to the Nordic countries and is thus far only known from one single locality. All other records have proven to be erroneous and refer to other taxa, i.e. Xerocomus communis and X. subtomentosus s. l. Xerocomus moravicus occurs in Sweden in a classic my- cological locality with ancient oak trees. The site is well known for many other thermophilic, calciphilic, rare and southerly taxa. Probably X. moravicus constitutes another proof of a spe- cies with a relict pattern of distribution. The species has an unclear taxonomical position and has recently, without support of molecular data, been transferred to the genus Aureoboletus. In times of big changes in taxonomy when boletes are rapidly being split up in several new phylogenetic genera, the authors at the moment prefer to keep an older combination, even if the taxonomical position in Xerocomus also is questioned. The authors e.g. mention some morphological similarities to the genusGyroporus , a possible relationship that should be ana- lyzed with modern molecular methods. The opening section on fungus fundamentals is an illustrated account of the relative importance of mycelia, fruit bodies and spores, without which many ecosystem nutrient cycles would cease. It is not generally appreciated that mycelia have been recorded patrolling territories of hundreds of hectares, living over a thousand years or weighing as much as a blue whale. Inconspicuous fungi are therefore amongst the largest, heaviest and oldest living things on Earth. The following sections describe the various formal and informal taxonomic and ecological groupings, emphasizing the often intimate and mutually beneficial partnerships formed between fungi and other organisms. This text defines in particular the criteria for an area to be qualified for designation as a biosphere reserve (Article 4). In addition, Article 9 foresees a periodic review every ten years The periodic review is based on a report prepared by the relevant authority, on the basis of the criteria of Article 4. Seasonal distribution, habitat and resource preferences are discussed. Keywords: Fungi, ecology, biodiversity, conservation, grassland INTRODUCTION Hedger & George (2004) published a list of 108 taxa of fungi found on Lundy during a five-day survey carried out in October 2003. They also included in this paper the records of 95 species of fungi made from 1970 onwards, mostly abstracted from the Annual Reports of the Lundy Field Society, and found that their own survey had added 70 additional records, giving a total of 156 taxa. They concluded that further surveys would undoubtedly add to the database, especially since the autumn of 2003 had been exceptionally dry, and as a consequence the fruiting of the larger fleshy fungi on Lundy, especially the grassland species, had been very poor, resulting in under-recording. Further five-day surveys were therefore carried out each year from 2004-08, three in the autumn, 8-12 November 2004, 4-9 November 2007, 3-11 November 2008, one in winter, 23-27 January 2006 and one in spring, 9-16 April 2005.

Illustrations of the basidiomata and the microstructures are provided for all taxa, as well as SEM images of ornamented basidiospores which occur in Clavulinopsis helvola and Ramariopsis kunzei. Studies in Fungi 2(1), 235–245, Doi 10.5943/sif/2/1/27 Abstract During our survey on marine-based ascomycetes of southern Thailand, fallen mangrove twigs were collected from the intertidal zones. Those specimens yielded a novel asexual morph of Jattaea (Calosphaeriaceae, Calosphaeriales), Jattaea bruguierae, which is confirmed as a new species by morphological characteristics such as nature and measurements of conidia and conidiophores, as well as a multigene analysis based on combined LSU, SSU, ITS and β-tubulin sequence data. Jattaea species are abundantly found from wood in terrestrial environments, while the asexual morphs are mostly reported from axenic cultures.
