Ofsted Piccadilly Gate Store Street Manchester T 0300 123 1231 www.gov.uk/ofsted M1 2WD 10 December 2020 Ben Bartlett Executive Headteacher Hinchley Wood School Claygate Lane Hinchley Wood Esher Surrey KT10 0AQ Dear Mr Bartlett Ofsted remote visit to Hinchley Wood School Following my remote visit with Shazia Akram, Her Majesty’s Inspector (HMI), to your school on 17 November 2020, I write on behalf of Her Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Education, Children’s Services and Skills to confirm the visit’s findings. Thank you for the time you made available to discuss your actions since September 2020, when the government expected all schools to open fully to all pupils. This visit was conducted under section 8 of the Education Act 2005 (as amended) and in accordance with Ofsted’s published procedures for visiting schools while routine inspections are temporarily suspended. Following changes to government guidance and the imposition of COVID-19 (coronavirus) lockdown restrictions, we made this visit remotely to reduce pressure on the school. Ofsted’s visits to schools during the autumn term are not inspections. We are not giving graded judgements. We did not undertake the usual range of inspection activities and were unable to check other sources of evidence, such as visits to lessons or looking at pupils’ work. The content of this letter gives an overview of our discussions about what has happened in your school this term. During the visit, we spoke to you, members of the senior leadership team, subject leaders, pastoral leaders and the attendance officer. We did not speak to pupils.

  • Headteacher's Letter
HEADTEACHER’S LETTER Dear Parents, Hinchley Wood School has a well-established reputation within the area for providing high quality education and good public examination results. This success is based on an approach which combines high expectations with sensitivity to students' individual needs. Well-qualified and experienced staff work together to make this school a successful and happy community. We offer a rich, varied and stimulating curriculum as well as superb purpose built accommodation. As a school, we strive constantly to improve on our previous best. We have received national awards for our GCSE results, the Healthy School's Award for our personal and social development programme and the British Council International School's Award for our work with schools in other countries. We were also one of the first schools in the country to be awarded Music College status which has enabled us to provide a range of new learning opportunities in music and ICT. Particular importance is placed on recognising and rewarding individual achievement. Students are actively encouraged to participate in a wide range of artistic and sporting activities; many gain recognition at local and national level for their achievements. There is also a flourishing school council and a long tradition of student involvement in charity and community work. Students at Hinchley Wood School are able to continue with their studies in the sixth form. The purpose built sixth form centre with dedicated ICT suite and social area provides an ideal learning environment. Students still benefit from the excellent support offered throughout the rest of the school while taking greater responsibility for their learning.

  • Surrey County Council Election Results 1973-2009
Surrey County Council Election Results 1973-2009 Colin Rallings and Michael Thrasher The Elections Centre Plymouth University The information contained in this report has been obtained from a number of sources. Election results from the immediate post-reorganisation period were painstakingly collected by Alan Willis largely, although not exclusively, from local newspaper reports. From the mid- 1980s onwards the results have been obtained from each local authority by the Elections Centre. The data are stored in a database designed by Lawrence Ware and maintained by Brian Cheal and others at Plymouth University. Despite our best efforts some information remains elusive whilst we accept that some errors are likely to remain. Notice of any mistakes should be sent to [email protected]. The results sequence can be kept up to date by purchasing copies of the annual Local Elections Handbook, details of which can be obtained by contacting the email address above. Front cover: the graph shows the distribution of percentage vote shares over the period covered by the results. The lines reflect the colours traditionally used by the three main parties. The grey line is the share obtained by Independent candidates while the purple line groups together the vote shares for all other parties. Rear cover: the top graph shows the percentage share of council seats for the main parties as well as those won by Independents and other parties. The lines take account of any by- election changes (but not those resulting from elected councillors switching party allegiance) as well as the transfers of seats during the main round of local election.

The Molesey, Dittons & Hinchley Wood Neighbourhood Watch Group Chairman – John Haberfield Contact Tel 0208 398 5256 Email [email protected] AUTUMN / WINTER 2016 In this edition: Goodbye to Elaine Burtenshaw: Elaine. Our Crime Reduction Advisor, retired from Surrey police in May, and her role is being covered by Vic Smith until a replacement is recruited. Elmbridge Police organisation changes: Details about who your local officers are in each police neighbourhood, and how best to make contact with your police neighbourhood team. Scams in the spotlight: Examples of new scams to be aware of. A foiled identity theft to obtain a debit card, scanning data from contactless payment cards, and phoney HMRC inspectors. Crime Statistics: We can no longer provide the crime statistics table that’s been part of our newsletter for many years. It became increasingly difficult to compile following the merger of Surrey and Sussex police databases and new systems not designed to hold information suitable for our needs, plus it relied heavily on much personal effort from Elaine to obtain and format the data. However, we now receive regular updates of crimes and trends, courtesy of Vic Smith, which is far more useful than a set of numbers. Elmbridge Police update: Vic Smith reveals good news on our crime figures over the last 6 months. Once again I’d like to thank everyone who’s fed back details of local crimes, to me or your coordinator. Rest assured, when we circulate information we don’t give out names or addresses; only the road name. John Haberfield Farewell to Elaine Burtenshaw Elaine Burtenshaw was our Elmbridge police Crime Reduction Advisor (CRA) and played a very active role with NHW; she was a member of the Elmbridge NHW Committee, attended and presented at all of our Imber Court Coordinators’ meetings, wrote articles for each of our newsletters and managed to deliver the 6-monthly update on crime statistics.
