The Flying Eagles
We are looking forward a dandy afternoon with The Flying Eagles Jazz Band on Sunday, Nov 10. With all the power outages, the hor- rific fire and all the upset, it will be good to lift spirits with this lively, high energy and talented band.
...
The Flying Eagles Jazz Band was formed at the Sacramento Trad Jazz Adult Camp in 2010. While this
band was the “new kid on the block,” the band plays
as if they have been together for years! The style runs the gamut of Tradi-
As you know from our last gig, the tavern is open - however, be sure to keep in mind that alcohol is not allowed outside the tavern, so must be consumed in the tavern. We are working to have it avail- able during our gigs in Grant Hall, but that is still up in the air. But, it's great to have the bar open and drinks available to all who want to imbibe. Water will be provided in Grant Hall.
tional Jazz styles, from the Original Dixieland Jazz Band to King Oliver, Fats Waller to a more modern-style Dixieland made famous by Kenny Ball. The band also plays slow blues favorites, uptempo Dixieland classics, 1930s – 1940s popular swing, and even popular tunes. Regardless of your musical taste, this band guarantees to keep the audience dancing and their toes tapping.
I am hopeful that food will be available in the cafe/tavern, but don't have a definite word yet, so if you want to bring food, you're wel- come to do so - or take the chance the cafe will finally be open.
The Fog City Stompers entertained us in October and kept the joint jumping. A talented band with a lot of Bix - and you can't go wrong with that.
Jim Broadstreet (trumpet) is the leader. John Tanko (reeds) and
Bill Badstubner (trombone) fill out the “front line.” Jim Maihack
(piano), Jeff Green (banjo and guitar), Gerry Turner (bass), and
Hugh O’Donnell (drums) set down the driving rhythm.
Hope you are all well and at home safely and able to join us on No- vember 10 to enjoy our favorite music.
See you then.
