Th e time had come to get back to the basic idea of running the cars that teams already had. Later that year, two 50-lap exhibition trophy dashes were held in North Carolina with drivers coming from as far away as Pennsylvania, Iowa, Florida, Mississippi, and Indiana to participate with their steel-bodied stock cars. On November 11, 2007, the Super Cup Stock Car Series was offi cially formed by a fi ve member advisory board consisting of Owners, Drivers and Offi cials. Series operations are still run using this method to this day. Th e core of the well-received series would be the 3,300-pound former Pro Cup stock cars that were otherwise obsolete. An inaugural schedule of 10 sanctioned races held in fi ve states at seven diff erent race tracks was set for 2008. Th e new series had four fi rst-time winners and two veterans winning races in its fi rst season. More than a decade has passed and the direction of the Super Cup Stock Car Series may have changed, but its goals have not. A simple idea continued that was started in the fi rst place: race the cars that teams already have and be inclusive, not exclusive, allowing similar-type cars to race with the fewest amount of changes necessary. When various stock car series evolved toward a diff erent direction in recent years, it freed up an abundance of cars available and provided an opportunity for additional competitors to join the SCSCS family. Th e allowance of former Pro Cup composite-bodied cars along with a mix of past NASCAR and ARCA cars have since been welcomed with some minor changes that help maintain the identity of the series. Th e overall footprint of competitors has migrated in diff erent directions and the list of interested facilities has continued to expand. Reopened in 2014 and representing the Keystone State of Pennsylvania, Jennerstown Speedway Complex has become an essential partner and hub for the SCSCS with a pair of summertime signature events on the schedule annually. Th e Virginia commonwealth’s Dominion Raceway 4/10-mile motorsports complex in Th ornburg serves as a premier facility and has established itself as a crowd favorite when the ‘Racin Th e Way It Used To Be’ style of stock car racing comes to town. Both the season opener and championship races to close out the year have taken place at Dominion since gaining in popularity following their debut on the schedule in September 2017. Ohio’s Midvale Speedway holds the honor of being the longest consecutive running track on the schedule, celebrating its 10th year of being on the SCSCS calendar. Tennessee’s Kingsport Speedway, aff ectionately known as “Th e Concrete Jungle”, is one of the newer tracks on the SCSCS block with a successful Friday night debut held in 2018. Competitors had the chance to return to Virginia’s Shenandoah Speedway for the fi rst time since 2013 a year ago and will be back again in 2020 for the annual Veterans Classic. Now the SCSCS is emerging to a third phase since the journey began – an entrance into the Midwest region of the country. Th e inaugural race held in the Hoosier State was at Indiana’s high-banked Salem Speedway last July to positive acclaim and turnout from the region’s fans and competitors, four of which were racing with the series regulars for the fi rst time. For 2020, the goal to continue visiting fi rst-class well-known venues increases by one more. Th e Indy Summer Nationals will take place in which the SCSCS joins a variety of touring series (Must See Racing Wingless Sprints, Midwest Supermodifi eds, and Midwest Compacts) for an extravaganza that will excite any motorsports enthusiast at Lucas Oil Raceway (formerly named Indianapolis Raceway Park), a 0.686-mile oval within only a few miles from the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Festivities at the adjacent drag strip, a car show, swap meet, and much more will add to the weekend entertainment for this anticipated event. In regard to the overall championship, teams are provided with ongoing incentives and extra fl exibility yet encouraged participation throughout the season-long campaign. Separate titles for North and South divisions, based on driver’s geography, will return for a fourth straight year in which a driver’s best preliminary results will count toward their season- ending accolades leading into the Championship Series races. Since the lineup of drivers and teams has grown to represent four diff erent areas of the country, the series will be looking to recognize their eff orts and determine potential additional regional awards. A twin feature format remains intact for each race day, in which teams will oft en be facing the challenges that come with competing once in daylight and once following sunset, all the while managing one set of American Racer tires through qualifying and both features. Announced during 2019’s season-ending Trophy Presentation, Tawaan Baker and Bill Ashton will join series director Joe Schmaling as working partners. Both Pennsylvania residents held recent involvement from various perspectives within the series and will have a role as senior advisory board members as well. SCSCS drivers and teams have been showcased in front of a national audience on the MAVTV Motorsports Network on several occasions over recent years and that relationship will be no diff erent into 2020. Th e future looks bright for the fans, series, teams, and tracks that host them. 22019019 SCSCSSCSCS PointPoint SStandingstandings # Driver Points Starts Wins Top 5 Top 10 Races Led Laps Led 1 Kevin Kromer 2268 19 7 12 15 11 325 2 Ron Langdon 2235 19 1 17 19 5 79 3 Mike Potter 2001 19 1 8 17 1 46 4 Lauren Butler 1992 19 0 10 16 5 Bill Ashton 1905 19 0 4 16 1 3 6 John Miller 1599 13 0 0 4 7 Jerod Brougher 1472 12 0 6 11 1 26 8 Ben Ebeling 1402 9 5 8 9 6 209 9 Landon Brothers 1294 13 0 0 6 10 Hayden Brothers 1262 13 0 0 4 11 Brent Nelson 1106 12 0 5 6 2 4 12 Quincy Sponseller 980 10 0 0 4 13 Jason Schue 861 10 0 0 7 14 J.J.
