Some details about Cumberland Lodge appear at the end of this booklet. The Conference is promoting a public discussion of the nature of establishment and the challenges it may face in the years ahead, both from a constitutional vantage point and in parochial ministry for the national church. A stellar collection of experts has been brought together for a unique conference which will seek to re-imagine the national church and public religion in the increasingly secular world in the current second Elizabethan age and hereafter. Robert Blackburn will deliver a keynote lecture on constitutional issues of monarchy, parliament and the Church of England. Norman Doe and Colin Podmore will assess the centenaries of, respectively, the Welsh Church Act 1914 and the Church of England Assembly (Powers) Act 1919 (known as the ‘Enabling Act’), and the experience of English and Welsh Anglicanism over this period.

    Abington Pastoral Letter No.46 06.03.2021 Dear friends We shall not lose them Since I announced that the services will be livestreamed from the church building, not from the Rectory from this Sunday, many friends told me how much they appreciated and enjoyed the services we have been sharing over the last couple of months. Thank you so much for all those encouraging and kind messages. Over the last 12 months of this journey, it has become absolutely clear to us now that the Eucharist celebrated in an ordinary home can be as holy and appropriate as the Eucharist celebrated in a grand cathedral. We have been blessed, comforted and inspired by the co- presence of the homeliness and holiness in our offering of the Eucharist; a child's curious look and innocent response at the presence of the sacrament; the endless love and grace of God to us revealed in the imperfect, humble but genuine offering of our worship and prayer. I really believe, friends, that was our moments of encountering God in this unexpected journey in the wilderness just like the people of Israel did when they were wandering in the wilderness after coming out of Egypt. It appears that the landscape will gradually start changing. We will slowly come out of the wilderness. We are not there yet. And there will be still significant challenges ahead of us. But things will be a little bit different than how they were 12 months ago. And we must not lose or forget what we experienced, learnt and discovered about our God, ourselves and our worship.

As a chief pastor he shares with his fellow bishops a special responsibility to maintain and further the unity of the Church, to uphold its discipline, and to guard its faith. He is to promote mission throughout the world. It is his duty to watch over and pray for those committed to his charge, and to teach and govern them after the example of the Apostles, speaking in the name of God and interpreting the gospel of Christ.

    Issue 57 May 2013 Lucy Yougquest (Centre of photo) from St Matthew's School earned the accolade of Bishop of the Day after an impressive speech about why she would like to be Bishop of the Day. Waiapu Top Parish 2013 for its roof Church building in the Diocese of Tarime, waiting op Parish 2013 was a wonderful example of Waiapu working together! Feedback from one person was how great it was to see so many clergy 'out of the glad rags' and pitching in as leaders, helpers, Tmarshals etc alongside our young people. Also in this issue Congratulations must go the the Regional Youth Ministry Facilitators and the local group from Rotorua Out of Africa - Waiapu's links who put in so much hard work preparing for and running Top Parish. Also, there were all those wonderful The grey tsunami volunteers from all over Waiapu who put their hands up to be leaders, marshals, score keepers and hard workers behind the scenes. The July Synod motion invited the House to secure the completion of this assessment in January 2006. The working group, chaired by the Bishop of Guildford, has worked under heavy pressure of time and we wish to congratulate its members for completing their task so efficiently within the tight timetable imposed. This has not been a full-scale consultative exercise, but extensive soundings have been taken and submissions received. The following is the text of the working group’s report to the House. We believe that it meets the request of Synod for a considered assessment of the various options and offer it to the Synod for debate.
