However, whatever our crosses are, whatever our weaknesses, wherever we are on our journey, we are a community blessed with faith. When we come to Mass, each of us comes with our own joys and blessings, our own worries, our own crosses, weaknesses and failings, but all of us, while on our own individual faith journey, gather together as a community of believers, with one voice, to praise the Lord and to share in the Eucharist. We pray today for everyone in our parish community, especially for those who struggle with their faith, those for whom God may seem distant, those who feel excluded from our love or from God’s love. In the knowledge that God’s House is a place of welcome for all, may each of us be a person of welcome, support and encouragement for others at all times. h SUNDAY MASSES: Vigil: Sat 6.00pm Castlederg. -

Context Bready Jubilee Primary School is situated in the village of Bready midway between Londonderry and Strabane. The children who attend the school come from the local villages of Bready and Magheramason and the surrounding rural area. There has been an increase in enrolment over the past four years and currently stands at 131. Four of the teaching unions which make up the Northern Ireland Teachers’ Council (NITC) have declared industrial action primarily in relation to a pay dispute. This includes non-co-operation with the Education and Training Inspectorate (ETI). Prior to the inspection, the school informed the ETI that none of the teachers would be co-operating with the inspectors. The ETI has a statutory duty to monitor, inspect and report on the quality of education under Article 102 of the Education and Libraries (Northern Ireland) Order 1986. Therefore, the inspection proceeded and the following evaluations are based on the evidence as made available at the time of the inspection. Governors' Report 2013
Donemana Primary School Governors’ Report 2013 - 2014 Foreword It gives me great pleasure to present to you the 2013/2014 Board of Gover- nors’ report for Donemana Primary School. You will be able to clearly see from the Calendar of Events and reports just how busy and varied a school year it has been for all of the pupils in our school. As a teacher myself, I have found it very impressive to note the huge opportunities and examples of good practice that are clearly evident in school. In the short time that I have been involved with Donemana Primary School, I have been very impressed with the leadership provided by our Principal, Mrs Hay, and the hard work, motivation, commitment and teamwork shown by all members of staff within school. There is a very positive, warm atmosphere and ethos within Donemana Primary, which would be the envy of many schools. We are indebted and very fortunate to have such a gifted and committed teaching and support staff entrusted with the educational and personal devel- opment of our young people. It is well known that the most successful schools work in partnership with the parents of their children. I would encourage all of you to get as involved as you can be with the work of the school because education does work. As par- ents, we are our child’s first teacher and have a vital role to play. With your support, your child can achieve in education and improve their life chances. I would have no doubt that by working in partnership your child can be the best they can be. -

A Society in Transition: the Protestant Community in Tyrone 1836-42 Daragh Emmett Curran Thesis for the Degree of Ph.D Departmen
A SOCIETY IN TRANSITION: THE PROTESTANT COMMUNITY IN TYRONE 1836-42 DARAGH EMMETT CURRAN THESIS FOR THE DEGREE OF PH.D DEPARTMENT OF HISTORY NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF IRELAND MAYNOOTH SUPERVISOR OF RESEARCH: PROFESSOR RAYMOND GILLESPIE SEPTEMBER, 2010 A society in transition: The Protestant community of County Tyrone 1836-42. Daragh Emmett Curran This thesis deals with the transition that was taking place in Protestant society in the immediate pre-famine period in County Tyrone. It explores how this community, at all social levels, reacted to the changes that were occurring and which were considered detrimental to its position of dominance in society. These changes had the potential to dramatically affect the traditional paternalistic relationship that bound the lower classes to their social betters and this study examines how this relationship survived through economic recession, changes in law and order, increasing concessions being granted to Catholics, lessening government support for the Protestant Church, and the suppression of the dominant Protestant association of the time- the Orange Order. The Order played an integral part in the lives of many Protestants and was an organization that transcended the class divide. Because of this, it becomes the pivot around which this work revolves as the Order, with its wide-stretching network, helped maintain the patriarchal relationship that bound the classes together. It is also a useful tool through which to examine attitudes towards law and order within the Protestant community as changes within this area, especially within the magistracy, affected the upper classes, the very people that the lower classes looked to for guidance.
