A Publication Of Concordia Lutheran Church † † November 2020 Concordia’s Season Deaconess Deaconess Andra Gates returns to serve with us up to 30-hours per week November 2020 through April 2021. She’s eager to help Concordia 1) welcome guests at weekend worship, 2) follow up building relationships with our guests, and 3) reach out to friends and members who have drifted from worship. This season, she’ll also help us visit and care for our homebound and those in skilled care, as numbers have risen in the pandemic and our elders are less able to visit. “Our” deaconess is a 2018 Master of Arts in Deaconess Studies graduate of our LCMS’ Ft. Wayne Indiana seminary. She’s just completed her internship serving in a multitude of ways with 12 congregations and 8 pastors in her home Yankton South Dakota circuit. She’s thrilled to launch her “second career” with us. “Thank you again for this great opportunity to serve!” In Andy’s first career she served in South Dakota (and a couple of years in Nebraska) as a Registered Nurse in hospitals, health centers and the state penitentiary. Receiving her parish nurse certificate from Concordia College Mequon Wisconsin in 1997, she’s also volunteered that help (and more!) to All Saints (with You)! her church.
