7 Prayer Declarations . Pittsburgh 7 PRAYER DECLARATIONS . PITTSBURGH 21 DAYS OF PRAYER | SEPTEMBER 9TH - 30TH FRIENDS.COM 1. HEALING AND PROTECTION (Psalm 91:1-4, 10) As we dwell in the shelter of the Most High, we will abide in the shadow of the Almighty and declare of the Lord, “He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” W e declare that He will deliver us from all the traps of the enemy and from any virus or deadly disease. No evil will conquer us; no plague will come near our home! He will cover us with His Presence and under His protection we will find refuge. 2. GOD’S WILL IN THE UPCOMING ELECTION (Romans 8:26-28) We declare that the Holy Spirit will help us in our weakness this November. When we do not know what to pray, the Spirit Himself will intercede for us with groanings too deep for words as the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. We declare that all things - in every election decision - will work together for good, for those who love God and are called according to His purpose. 3. RECONCILIATION AND JUSTICE (Isaiah 58:6-12) As we fast and pray, we declare that we will also work to loose the bonds of wickedness, undo the heavy burdens, let the oppressed go free and break every yoke! We declare Your light will break forth like the dawn, and Your healing shall spring up speedily. We choose to take away the yoke from our midst, and to do away with the pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness. Those from among us will see our ancient ruins rebuilt; we shall raise up the foundations of many generations; And You O Lord, shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In. 4. FAMILY REVIVAL (Psalm 112:1-8) We declare: Blessed is the man or woman who fears the Lord, who delights greatly in His commands. Their descendants will be mighty on the earth; the generation of the upright will be blessed!! Light shines in the darkness for the godly. We declare that we will not be overcome by evil. Those who are righteous will not fear bad news; we will confidently trust the Lord to care for us. We are confident and fearless and can face our foes triumphantly! 5. SUPERNATURAL MIRACLES (Acts 4:29-33) Lord, we declare that You will give us, Your servants, great boldness in preaching Your Word! Stretch out Your hand with healing power; may miraculous signs and wonders be done through the Name of your Holy Servant Jesus! We declare that we will see our meeting places shook, and all filled with the Holy Spirit. We declare that we will preach the word of God with boldness and see all believers united in heart and mind as we testify powerfully to the resurrection and Your great blessing will rest upon us all! 6. NEW MINISTRIES BIRTHED (Eph 3:16-20) We declare that we will be strengthened with might through Your Spirit that dwells in our hearts through faith; we are being rooted and grounded in love — to comprehend the width and length and depth and height of Your love — and to be filled with all the fullness of God. And we declare: You are ABLE to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us!! 7. SALVATION OF SOULS (2 Peter 3:7-10) We declare a harvest of souls to come to salvation in our city! By Your Word the present heavens and earth are being kept for the day of judgment, but we will not forget this one thing: The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness. Instead YOU ARE PATIENT with all, You do not want anyone to perish, but You desire everyone to come to repentance. 1. Lament of Healing and Protection. We cry out to ask God to forgive us for not trusting that God will heal and protect us. We cry out because we have not asked God to move to heal and protect those that are vulnerable. We cry out to God to show us how to love and make ourselves available to be used by God. We lament that we have not placed enough faith in God to be our Fortress in whom we trust. 2. Lament God’s Will in the Upcoming Election. We cry out not knowing and not believing that God is in control of our world, our country, our city, our neighborhoods. We receive Your Promise of Peace, when You said “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:27) Forgive us for letting our hearts be troubled. Forgive us for being afraid. We ask God to deliver us and set our feet upon the Rock of salvation regardless of the outcomes. 3. Lament for Reconciliation and Justice. We cry out asking for forgiveness because we have not lamented for God to move and allow for God’s Grace to reconcile us to each other, to God, and to creation. We have not longed to see all of God’s people gather and be known. All of humankind is created in God’s image and we have not welcomed all people into the kingdom of God and for that we ask for forgiveness. You have “shown us, as mortals, what is good. And what does the Lord require? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with our God” (Micah 6:8) Because we haven’t done this we need to cry out and ask "let justice roll on like a river and righteousness like a never-failing stream!" (Amos 5:24) 4. We lament that we haven’t acted in ways for everyone to be a part of God’s family and haven’t made our churches welcoming and nurturing for all families to grow and love God . We need to be committed to reaching out and welcoming others in the name of Jesus to be hospitable and caring and make all included in the family of God. The family of God needs to be important! “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for we are all one in Christ Jesus.” (Galatians 3:28) We cry out for a true faith "that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless, as we look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.” (James 1:27) 5. Supernatural Miracles . We lament that we haven’t believed and trusted that God will move in supernatural ways. “God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and by gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to His will.” (Hebrews 2:4) We cry out and ask God to move and we pray that we will trust that God will move and do the supernatural. 6. New Ministries Birthed. We cry out and ask God to heal our brokenness that the church isn’t moving in new and bold ways. We know God will move and forgive us for putting our needs first and not caring for the fatherless and the widow, the lost, the marginalized and those forgotten. James 2:15-16 and Hosea 14:3 7. Salvation of souls. We cry out for those who don’t know You. Our heart needs to break for the things that break Your heart. We ask You, O God, to deliver people into the light and declare that we need to make heaven on earth. We know we have failed but we desire to do what is right and we cry out to you Lord. "We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption to sonship, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved" and in faith, we declare many other sons and daughters will be adopted and saved!! (Rom 8:22-24) Drafted by Pastor Alex Ruzanic / Team .

  • ABSTRACT the Women of Supernatural: More Than
ABSTRACT The Women of Supernatural: More than Stereotypes Miranda B. Leddy, M.A. Mentor: Mia Moody-Ramirez, Ph.D. This critical discourse analysis of the American horror television show, Supernatural, uses a gender perspective to assess the stereotypes and female characters in the popular series. As part of this study 34 episodes of Supernatural and 19 female characters were analyzed. Findings indicate that while the target audience for Supernatural is women, the show tends to portray them in traditional, feminine, and horror genre stereotypes. The purpose of this thesis is twofold: 1) to provide a description of the types of female characters prevalent in the early seasons of Supernatural including mother-figures, victims, and monsters, and 2) to describe the changes that take place in the later seasons when the female characters no longer fit into feminine or horror stereotypes. Findings indicate that female characters of Supernatural have evolved throughout the seasons of the show and are more than just background characters in need of rescue. These findings are important because they illustrate that representations of women in television are not always based on stereotypes, and that the horror genre is evolving and beginning to depict strong female characters that are brave, intellectual leaders instead of victims being rescued by men. The female audience will be exposed to a more accurate portrayal of women to which they can relate and be inspired. Copyright © 2014 by Miranda B. Leddy All rights reserved TABLE OF CONTENTS Tables

  • Theology of Supernatural
religions Article Theology of Supernatural Pavel Nosachev School of Philosophy and Cultural Studies, HSE University, 101000 Moscow, Russia; [email protected] Received: 15 October 2020; Accepted: 1 December 2020; Published: 4 December 2020 Abstract: The main research issues of the article are the determination of the genesis of theology created in Supernatural and the understanding of ways in which this show transforms a traditional Christian theological narrative. The methodological framework of the article, on the one hand, is the theory of the occulture (C. Partridge), and on the other, the narrative theory proposed in U. Eco’s semiotic model. C. Partridge successfully described modern religious popular culture as a coexistence of abstract Eastern good (the idea of the transcendent Absolute, self-spirituality) and Western personified evil. The ideal confirmation of this thesis is Supernatural, since it was the bricolage game with images of Christian evil that became the cornerstone of its popularity. In the 15 seasons of its existence, Supernatural, conceived as a story of two evil-hunting brothers wrapped in a collection of urban legends, has turned into a global panorama of world demonology while touching on the nature of evil, the world order, theodicy, the image of God, etc. In fact, this show creates a new demonology, angelology, and eschatology. The article states that the narrative topics of Supernatural are based on two themes, i.e., the theology of the spiritual war of the third wave of charismatic Protestantism and the occult outlooks derived from Emmanuel Swedenborg’s system. The main topic of this article is the role of monotheistic mythology in Supernatural.

  • Wayward Sons: Modern Mythology in Supernatural
Siggard 1 Alison Siggard BYU English Symposium 20 March 2014 Wayward Sons: Modern Mythology in Supernatural “The core notion behind Supernatural was to make a series about urban legends. I think they’re this incredibly rich mythology about the United States,” show creator Eric Kripke said in an interview promoting the show’s two hundredth episode (“Supernatural” at 200”). Since 2005, the cult television show has grown to be something of an underground phenomenon, with legions of dedicated fans. The story of two brothers travelling the country in search of monsters, demons, and ghosts has taken viewers on a ten season long journey of emotional upheavals, social commentary, and dramatic storytelling. As explained by Kripke, the show is set in a world of mythology and urban legends. However, the use of and modification of these motifs leads to something different about Supernatural : it becomes a legend of its own, telling the tale of the Winchester brothers as heroes. Through its use of mythological and folkloric motifs and retellings, Supernatural creates its own mythology, reflecting old archetypes into an epic for a modern age. “Dad wants us to pick up where he left off”: Character Archetypes in Two Heroes’ Journeys Contrary to most heroic stories, the show focuses on two heroes, Sam and Dean Winchester. However, they are two very different types of heroes. Their stories start the same. Twenty-two years before the events of the show begin, the brothers’ mother, Mary, was killed in a mysterious fire in Sam’s nursery. Her death causes John Winchester, the boys’ father, to embark on a journey to discover what killed his wife and to get revenge.

  • THE PITTSBURGH LEADER's ANALYSIS of the 1890 CRISIS in the HARMONY SOCIETY and ITS INTERNATIONAL REPERCUSSIONS Karlj
THE PITTSBURGH LEADER'S ANALYSIS OF THE 1890 CRISIS IN THE HARMONY SOCIETY AND ITS INTERNATIONAL REPERCUSSIONS KarlJ. R. Arndt Ihave pointed out in my book George Rapp's Successors and Material Heirs, 1847-1916 (Fairleigh Dickinson University AsPress, 1971), 1890 was a year of crisis in the long history of the Harmony Society, because death was taking a particularly heavy toll of its membership. Gertrude Rapp, the granddaughter and last surviving descendant of "the most famous communist of the age," had died on December 29, 1889, and soon afterward George Kirschbaum, who had directed the music at her funeral, made the mistake of taking a lantern with him to investigate the cause of falling pressure in the Society's gas system. He was burned alive in a matter of minutes. The old members of the Society had not yet recovered from this shock when on January 23, 1890, death claimed the junior trustee of the Society, Jonathan Lenz. The man who was elected to succeed him, Ernest Wolfel, died suddenly on July 28, 1890. These deaths only tended to accelerate the decision of former Harmonists and workers serving the Harmony Society to seek mem- bership and above all a share in the enormous wealth of the Society. Among those interested were two rivals :the Dusses and the Feuchts. The former, John S. Duss, was a one-time employee of the Society, while the latter were descendants of one of the founding fathers. Both the Feuchts had been forced out of the Society because they married, but upon their readmission to membership under the trusteeship of Jacob Henrici, Dr.
