The Church was full and we had the benefit of the Benefice Choir. The service was on the same day as the one that was taking place in Zambia, where our bishops and people from this Diocese were visiting (someone from Mudford went) to celebrate 40 years of the Link of Friendship between the two Dioceses. We used the same service as much as possible, same hymns and readings and we had our own link too. Alex Henry from Marston Magna was volunteering there, before going to university. He wrote us a letter about his work, including helping in a baby clinic. It was read by his mother Sara and made the service very special. Alex is back now, last seen helping at the Village Event, the Pimms tent I think I remember, with his family. This month on the 14th July at 2.30 there will be an anniversary celebration at Wells Cathedral, when guests from Zambia wall be coming. At 3.45 will be an “After-party” at the Bishop's Palace. Free entry to explore the Palace and gardens, to meet Zambian guests, enjoy family games and live music including the Royal Artillery Band. (I am pleased about this my father was Royal Artillery!). Bring a picnic and soak up the atmosphere. There will be a charge of parking of £3. (Cheap! I have to go to Wells sometimes and parking is expensive) If you would like to go it would help if you registered at www.bathandwells.org/zambia-celebration At the end of July on 29th at 10.45 will be another Benefice service with the Choir. This time to celebrate Lammas, the first fruits of the wheat harvest. We will have a loaf to use communion and eat at the picnic afterwards. Bring your own picnic but we will provide drinks. Revd.
