International Student Handbook 2020 - 2021 Welcome to Tilburg University Dear Student, You are about to start as a Bachelor’s, Pre-Master’s or (Research) Master’s student at one of the five Schools of Tilburg University. Of course, if you are new to the Netherlands and/or to Tilburg University, there is a lot to get used to. On top of the new start of your studies at Tilburg University, we are all facing the challenges of COVID-19 and the restrictions imposed on our daily lives and your studies in Tilburg. This handbook has been prepared to give you relevant information and answer any questions you might have about starting with your studies at Tilburg University. Studying at Tilburg University The corona crisis and the measures taken to prevent the further spread of the virus have deeply affected and influenced campus life. Education, rese- arch, and office work is mostly happening from home. We are entering the phase of transition to the 1.5-meter society. The VSNU (Association of Universities in the Netherlands) and the Minis- try of Education, Culture and Science are working together on a protocol that provides a framework for restarting activities in higher education, in 1. Based on this pro- tocol, Tilburg University has developed its own Roadmap with regards to opening up the campus and starting up activities. This Roadmap can be found on a special website. Here you can find the most up-to-date informa- tion regarding the campus and the available facilities. As a new student to Tilburg University there is a lot of new information gi- ven to you. Tilburg University has created a quick start for students, where all the important information can be found. Some very handy tip and tricks can also be found on the website! https://www.tilburguniversity.edu/students/quick-start 1.1 Tilburg University Campus 1.1.1 The Campus Tilburg University has a compact green campus in beautiful surroundings. The campus has a modern library with state-of-the-art study- and workspa- ces. There are individual and group workstations all over campus, some of which are located outside! No Smoking Since August 15, 2019, our campus is a non-smoking campus. You can study there, borrow books, work in small groups and access the internet and your e-mail on one of the many student computers. The Tilburg Uni- versity Library has over 800,000 books, journals and other publications in paper and digital form. Moreover, the Tilburg University network offers you free access to all major scientific databases and digital journals. The Li- brary uses the WorldCat Local search engine.
