  • Sri Ramakrishna & His Disciples in Orissa
Preface Pilgrimage places like Varanasi, Prayag, Haridwar and Vrindavan have always got prominent place in any pilgrimage of the devotees and its importance is well known. Many mythological stories are associated to these places. Though Orissa had many temples, historical places and natural scenic beauty spot, but it did not get so much prominence. This may be due to the lack of connectivity. Buddhism and Jainism flourished there followed by Shaivaism and Vainavism. After reading the lives of Sri Chaitanya, Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother and direct disciples we come to know the importance and spiritual significance of these places. Holy Mother and many disciples of Sri Ramakrishna had great time in Orissa. Many are blessed here by the vision of Lord Jagannath or the Master. The lives of these great souls had shown us a way to visit these places with spiritual consciousness and devotion. Unless we read the life of Sri Chaitanya we will not understand the life of Sri Ramakrishna properly. Similarly unless we study the chapter in the lives of these great souls in Orissa we will not be able to understand and appreciate the significance of these places. If we go on pilgrimage to Orissa with same spirit and devotion as shown by these great souls, we are sure to be benefited spiritually. This collection will put the light on the Orissa chapter in the lives of these great souls and will inspire the devotees to read more about their lives in details. This will also help the devotees to go to pilgrimage in Orissa and strengthen their devotion.

When Gargamuni came here the other day he also described it so nicely, and now you can understand the specimen of transcendental pleasure in which the human society as a whole can take part and realize transcendental bliss. The car festival was very simple. After all, it is a car with four wheels. But it attracted the people so enthusiastically because there was his Lordship Jagannath. Atheistic people may say that the Jagannath His Divine Grace A. C. We are compared as exacted from anything. We understand from the scriptures that Krishna has So it is the Krishna consciousness energy that gives us his vigraha, spiritual body, which is exactly like a man transcendental bliss, just like it is the electric energy who has two hands, two legs and all similar features.

Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada • PURI - THE INNER CHAMBER OF SRI CHAITANYA’S HOME PART 2 Highlights Radhamadhava Das PURI - THE INNER CHAMBER OF SRI CHAITANYA’S HOME PART 2 By Radhamadhav Das As with most Odias, the kula-devatā of the Mishra family was Lord Jagannath. One night, Jagannath appeared in the dream of the Mishras and ordered them to move to Bengal. This was before Shobha Devi was born. The Mishras had so much devotion to Lord Jagannath that they at once packed and moved to Bengal! After they thus migrated to Dhaka Dakshina Gram in Sylhet, Jagannath again appeared in their dream. He told them that he was so much pleased with their unwavering devotion that now he will himself take birth in their family in his most essential form (svarūpa). The Mishras got very excited. This confidential secret was then passed down many generations in their family until it reached Shobha Devi. Shobha Devi, the ṭhākura-mā, paternal grandmother, of Mahaprabhu, was a great devotee and was extremely eager to witness how Lord Jagannath would appear in OUR ONLY REAL ENEMY her family. As the years were passing, no child seemed His Divine Grace to match the prediction and Shobha Devi became more A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada and more anxious. She was getting old and her only Devotee: Prabhupada, what is the devotee’s last wish was to have darshan of the divine child.
