Key words: raspberry, production, economic importance. JEL: Q13, Q11 Introduction The most significant production for the economy of our country within fruit production is the production of berrylike fruit (strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, cranberries, gooseberries) since an annual turnover realized with the export of this fruit, and first of all the export of raspberries, is more than 120 million of euros (Kljajic, 2012.). Raspberry (Rubus idaeus L.) is the most important kind of berry-like fruit. Growing raspberries has a very long tradition in our country, longer than a century.

The political environment has also stabilized in a business friendly trajectory, after two successful democratic elections and two Western oriented governments. The banking system has devel- oped to a level of sufficient quality for all normal foreign trade operations. The unresolved status of the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro will delay integration into the WTO until as least 2008. Nevertheless, quotas are likely to be eliminated via bi-later- al agreements with the US and EU in 2005. This market environment will be positive over time. The cost of production will continue to rise in EU member states and the US. The expansion of the EU to Central and Eastern Europe will accel- erate the rising production costs in these new member countries. Serbia will remain one of the last continental European markets for high skill low cost labor-intensive production. Progress in the textile and garment industry can be expected in a spontaneous ad hoc manner.

Overview of mycological literature, research and herbaria collections on macro fungi of Serbia with reference list The field guides in south Slavic languages with descriptions taken from foreign mycological literature appeared in the second part of the 20th Century and are still used for mushroom determination in the entire region First field guides for mushroom species determination in southern Slavic languages were written by the very dedicated hobbyists mainly from Slovenia and Croatia, where the culture of collecting and consuming mushrooms was well established (Božac 1989, Focht 1979, 1987, 1988). The keys for determining fungal sporocarps compiled by philosopher Ivan Focht (1979, 1987, 1988) have been the most professional taxonomic literature ever published in the ex Yugoslavia region with the original descriptions from the local findings. Even though he was the only person from ex Yugoslavia listed on the Wikipedia List of mycologists (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mycologists), Focht himself has never pretended to address to the scientific community - he dedicated his work to the mushroom gatherers (Focht 1987). Hobbyist field books with very basic descriptions, but claimed to be based on findings in Serbia and in Serbian language were published recently (Davidović 2007, Uzelac 2009). The species nomenclature in all these field guides is long outdated, which makes any kind of literature on fungi survey and analysis in Serbia very difficult. The investigations on epigeic fungal diversity in Serbia could be divided in three phases. First published data originate from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the time of kingdoms of Serbia and Yugoslavia, were the lists of species from the defined territory produced by few foreign and domestic authors (Schröter 1890, Simić 1895, 1900, Ranojević 1900, 1902, 1904, 1905a,b, 1910, 1938, Lindtner 1935, Pilat, 1937, Pilat and Lindtner 1938, Litschawer 1939).

  • “Landscape Shape Interpolation” for Defining Spatial Pattern of Beech Genetic Diversity in Serbia

Isajev and S. Mladenovi ć Drini ć (2008): "Landscape shape interpolation” for defining spatial pattern of beech genetic diversity in Serbia. – Genetika, Vol. 40, No. 3,283-292. Knowledge about spatial distribution of genetic diversity is very important for foresters in order to make right decisions during establishing of management plans for conservation, afforestation or reforestation. Advanced molecular technologies provide us with efficiently measured genetic information’s which can be analyzed powerful statistical tools. Landscape Shape Interpolation analysis was applied on protein based marker data sets from six natural populations of Balkan beech. Results indicate existence of three genetically distinct groups: 1) Djerdap, Kopaonik, Zubin potok and Ivanjica; 2) Bor and 3) Pirot. These results were compared with results of UPGMA clustering of sampled population based on NEI original distances, Principal Coordinate Analysis and Monmonier's Maximum Difference Algorithm Analysis. Combining of Landscape Shape Interpolation analysis results with digitalized maps of investigated area in some of numerous GIS applications will for certainly improve visualization of results and provide better understanding of causal factors of genetic diversity.

  • FRUIT PRODUCTION AS a FACTOR of RURAL AREA DEVELOPMENT in SERBIA Biljana Veljković, Ivan Glišić, Ranko Koprivica1, Aleksandar Leposavić2
FRUIT PRODUCTION AS A FACTOR OF RURAL AREA DEVELOPMENT IN SERBIA Biljana Veljković, Ivan Glišić, Ranko Koprivica1, Aleksandar Leposavić2 INTRODUCTION Fruit growing as a specific plant production activity can contribute highly to the economic development of the region, which is particularly pronounced in upland areas. Environmental predispositions of these parts of Serbia provide them with certain comparative advantages over other areas, while, on the other hand, these areas are predominated by farms of chiefly mixed or fruit growing and livestock – farming type. In addition, long fruit growing tradition is generally the main characteristic of these areas. The most frequent and sometimes even crucial motives are the economic ones because fruit production can lead to considerably higher production values per hectare compared to common subsistence forms of farming, which often has a decisive effect on farms and fruit production intensification. In agricultural land structure of Serbia the share of orchards is 4.7%, it is 6.8% in the central part of Serbia and in some upland areas it even exceeds 15% (the orchard proportion in the region of Cacak is 15.2%). MATERIAL AND METHOD Standard statistical methods and official and internal statistics data bases for the region of Serbia were used in the research. The analysis of fruit production by fruit species, total production and yield in Serbia, part of central Serbia and in the Moravicki District, was made to compare and study fruit production for the region of Cacak. Based on the analysis and a case study for the region concerned, current and future development trends were presented and methods of further fruit growing intensification by fruit species were focused on.
