We are a small school, currently with 78 children, a preschool and 13 staff. We work exceptionally well as a small school team and even more so during the last 15 challenging months; everyone gets involved, supporting each other where needed. We became an academy in January 2019 as part of the Dales Academies Trust and work closely with the other schools in the trust.

Due to the early retirement of our part time preschool lead and assistant, we are looking for a full time outstanding preschool leader to join our school team, to work closely with our Reception/Year 1 staff and nurture our children, helping to prepare them for starting school.

We are looking for a preschool practitioner who will be:

• A caring person who has the needs of our pupils and their families at the heart of everything they do • A highly effective practitioner and leader who is passionate about education and able to make continuous improvements to their own practice • An excellent role model for staff and pupils and a source of inspiration • A team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Willing to support the Christian ethos of the school

What we can offer:

• Happy and welcoming pupils, staff and governors • A warm, collegiate and supportive environment • The opportunity to be part of a school with a caring environment, part of a growing multi academy trust.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The school is also committed to safer recruitment procedures. This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Check.

If you would like to request an application pack, arrange a visit to the school or speak to the headteacher, please contact Mrs Fiona Sharp at the school office on 01609 773519 or email [email protected] Applications to be returned by email please.

Candidates will be contacted if they have been shortlisted.

Dales Academies Trust

Dales Academies Trust is a new Multi Academy Trust (MAT), with sponsor status, for the northern church schools of the Anglican Dioceses of Leeds and York.

As with the other church MATs across both dioceses, the Trust is open to church and non-church schools with a core purpose of providing an inclusive education for children of any ability, culture, gender, sexuality, faith or no faith. The ethos will be derived from and informed by the Church of England’s commitment to education and schooling over more than 200 years.

The Diocese of Leeds commissioned Bradford Diocesan Academies Trust (BDAT) to set up the new MAT for North Yorkshire and appointed the BDAT Chief Executive Officer (CEO) interim CEO of the new Trust. A dedicated CEO for Dales was appointed in September 2017 and a Finance Officer shortly afterwards; BDAT continues to support the developing Trust. Ainderby Steeple became an academy, joining Dales Academies Trust in January 2019. To date Dales consists of the following schools: • All Saints Church of England Academy (Secondary) • Kirkby Fleetham Church of England Primary School • Ainderby Steeple Church of England Primary • Middleton Tyas Church of England Primary School School • Ravensworth Church of England Primary School • Barton Church of England Primary School • South Otterington Church of England Primary School • Carnagill Community Primary School • St Francis of Assisi Church of England Primary School • Croft Church of England Primary School • Thornaby Church of England Primary School • East Cowton Church of England Primary School • Trinity Richmond Church of England Primary School • Eppleby Forcett Church of England Primary School

Historically the Primary schools within Dales and their Head Teachers have worked closely together for many years.

Ainderby Steeple CE Primary School is a small school on the edge of Northallerton. It was originally in the village of Ainderby Steeple but a new school was built in Morton on Swale to serve the local villages. People who visit comment on the caring, family feel that it has, our children working together to care for each other.

We currently have 78 children in 3 classes in the main school. Due to an increase in numbers of children entering the Reception class, we are moving to 4 classes in September. There are 4 classrooms in the main building along with a hall and 2 mobile classrooms, one of which is the preschool building and the other a before/afterschool club, providing wrap around care from 7.45am until 5.30pm on an evening. Our Reception /Year 1 class was newly built in 2016 and was purpose built with an enclosed outdoor play area. We have extensive external grounds including a large playground and field.

The preschool was taken over by the school 3 years ago. It was previously committee led by parents and open mornings only. When they were struggling to form a committee and it was going to close, the governors and I decided there was a need in the village for childcare and it was important school took it over as a governor led preschool. We take 2/3/4-year olds on a morning (currently between 15-17) and 3/4-year olds (currently 15/16) on an afternoon. Staff work closely with the Reception and Year 1 staff and pre-covid, children mixed in the outdoor area on an afternoon which helped enable very smooth transition to school.

This is an exciting time for a new preschool lead to help move our Early Years provision from good to outstanding, nurturing our children into caring, inquisitive children who are ready for the transition to school.

We are part of the Swaledale Alliance and work closely with the schools in the Dales Academies Trust, have strong links with local churches and The Dales School next door.
