Ook de Hulk -reeks zal een stopzetting kennen door het slechte tekenwerk. Enkel Wolverine zal een lang leven beschoren zijn, het personage is sterk genoeg dat fans hem overal volgen. Hoewel wij Juniorpress misschien kennen van hun superheldenverhalen, brengen ze veel strips voor kinderen uit. Dag in dag uit moet hij het opnemen tegen schurken als: The Green Goblin , Dr. Zijn vrouw Mary Jane Watson en z'n tante May zijn z'n steun en toeverlaat, maar tegelijk z'n grootste zorg. Als zijn aartsrivalen ooit achter zijn geheime identiteit zouden komen, zijn zij makkelijke doelwitten. Spider-Man werd met vele andere superhelden ontvoerd door de almachtige Beyonder om te vechten in de Secret Wars. Toen zijn kostuum kapot was probeerde hij zijn kostuum te vervangen door een zwart kostuum dat hij op de planeet van de Secret Wars vond. Dit kostuum kon elk kledingstuk vormen dat hij wilde en het maakte ook web aan. Toen het kostuum vreemd ging doen, zocht hij hulp bij Mr. Fantastic van de Fantastic Four. Deze ontdekte dat het een levend wezen was. Hij verwijderde met geweld het kostuum en hield het gevangen. De symbioot ontsnapte later en smolt samen met iemand die een hekel had aan Spider-Man namelijk Eddie Brock, ze werden Venom. Reilly maakte een soort Spider-Man-kostuum om Spider-Man te helpen in zijn avonturen. De Bugle noemde hen Scarlet Spider. Kort daarna raakte Mary Jane zwanger. Reilly nam de identiteit van Spider-Man over omdat de tweede Doctor Octopus de reputatie van Scarlet Spider vernietigd had. Mary Jane werd echter vergiftigd door een helper van de Green Goblin, waardoor de baby dood werd geboren zo leek het althans, want korte tijd later nam de helper de baby mee. Na maanden vol avonturen werd Spider-Man beschuldigd van een moord die hij niet begaan had. Als Dusk lukte het Peter om de superschurk Trapster , die de echte dader was, te vangen en zijn naam te zuiveren. Peter nam de identiteit van Spider-Man weer aan. Peter kreeg een baan als leraar bij de Midtown High School. Hij leerde een geheimzinnige oude man genaamd Ezekiel , die dezelfde krachten had als Peter kennen. Hij kende Peters geheime identiteit. Hij onthulde dat Peters krachten meer waren dan enkel het bijeffect van een spinnenbeet. Deze krachten worden al generaties lang doorgegeven, en Peter was de volgende die voorbestemd was om een Spider-Man te worden. Ezekiel waarschuwde Peter voor de totemjager Morlun. Ezekiel bleek echter niet helemaal betrouwbaar. Hij had zichzelf via een ritueel de Spider-Mankrachten gegeven.

Murdough A Thesis Submitted to the Graduate College of Bowling Green State University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of MASTER OF ARTS August 2006 Committee: Angela Nelson, Advisor Marilyn Motz Jeremy Wallach ii ABSTRACT Angela Nelson, Advisor In 1985-86, DC Comics launched an extensive campaign to revamp and revise its most important superhero characters for a new era. In many cases, this involved streamlining, retouching, or completely overhauling the characters’ fictional back-stories, while similarly renovating the shared fictional context in which their adventures take place, “the DC Universe.” To accomplish this act of revisionist history, DC resorted to a text-based performative gesture, Crisis on Infinite Earths. This thesis analyzes the impact of this singular text and the phenomena it inspired on the comic-book industry and the DC Comics fan community. The first chapter explains the nature and importance of the convention of “continuity” (i.e., intertextual diegetic storytelling, unfolding progressively over time) in superhero comics, identifying superhero fans’ attachment to continuity as a source of reading pleasure and cultural expressivity as the key factor informing the creation of the Crisis on Infinite Earths text. The second chapter consists of an eschatological reading of the text itself, in which it is argued that Crisis on Infinite Earths combines self-reflexive metafiction with the ideologically inflected symbolic language of apocalypse myth to provide DC Comics fans with a textual "rite of transition," to win their acceptance for DC’s mid-1980s project of self- rehistoricization and renewal.

    PRIVILEGED ATTORNEY-CLIENT COMMUNICATION EXECUTIVE SUMMARY SECOND AMENDED AND RESTATED LICENSE AGREEMENT (“SPIDER-MAN”) CREATIVE ISSUES This memo summarizes certain terms of the Second Amended and Restated License Agreement (“Spider-Man”) between SPE and Marvel, effective September 15, 2011 (the “Agreement”). 1. CHARACTERS AND OTHER CREATIVE ELEMENTS: a. Exclusive to SPE: . The “Spider-Man” character, “Peter Parker” and essentially all existing and future alternate versions, iterations, and alter egos of the “Spider- Man” character. All fictional characters, places structures, businesses, groups, or other entities or elements (collectively, “Creative Elements”) that are listed on the attached Schedule 6. All existing (as of 9/15/11) characters and other Creative Elements that are “Primarily Associated With” Spider-Man but were “Inadvertently Omitted” from Schedule 6. The Agreement contains detailed definitions of these terms, but they basically conform to common-sense meanings. If SPE and Marvel cannot agree as to whether a character or other creative element is Primarily Associated With Spider-Man and/or were Inadvertently Omitted, the matter will be determined by expedited arbitration. All newly created (after 9/15/11) characters and other Creative Elements that first appear in a work that is titled or branded with “Spider-Man” or in which “Spider-Man” is the main protagonist (but not including any team- up work featuring both Spider-Man and another major Marvel character that isn’t part of the Spider-Man Property). The origin story, secret identities, alter egos, powers, costumes, equipment, and other elements of, or associated with, Spider-Man and the other Creative Elements covered above. The story lines of individual Marvel comic books and other works in which Spider-Man or other characters granted to SPE appear, subject to Marvel confirming ownership.

The question now becomes what efforts are being made to appeal to fans of color in traditional “nerd” activities, specifically comic books (this can include television shows and movies based on comic book characters), anime, and science fiction. Throughout the decades, there have been various attempts to have a discourse about the lack of diversity in nerd culture, both among its creators and characters from various properties considered beloved to nerds.
