Saturday 28th June AfrAsia Bank, Football First and McDonald’s today announced the names of the top 24 players selected from last week’s final trial at the New George V Stadium, ending the suspense of our young footballers from across the nation. Hon. Satyaprakash (Devanand) Ritoo, Minister of Youth & Sports was present to personally congratulate the players and their parents. With a total of 1,850 participants having been evaluated in Mauritius and Rodrigues, both organisers and partners are proud of the success of this event, a first on the island and a stepping stone for the future phases of this pioneering football program. “The last month has been hard work but very rewarding for us all to see the talented young Mauritian footballers. It would have not been possible without the involvement of our sponsors, coaches, and registration staff, plus the student volunteers from Le Bocage International School. It motivates all of the staff to see the skills and commitment the boys and parents have to improve the football in Mauritius. I would also like to thank all the boys who took part in this first national selection process, they should not feel that they failed as to us at Football First they were all winners for participating. History History of the FC Barcelona History History History of the FC Barcelona Early years (1899-1908) The ad in Los DeportesOn 22 October 1899 Joan Gamper placed an advert in Los Deportes declaring his wish to form a football club. A positive response resulted in a meeting at the Gimnasio Sole on November 29. Eleven players attended: Gualteri Wild, Lluís d'Ossó, Bartomeu Terradas, Otto Kunzle, Otto Maier, Enric Ducal, Pere Cabot, Josep Llobet, John Parsons, and William Parsons. As a result Foot-Ball Club Barcelona was born. Several other Spanish football clubs, most notably Real Madrid and Athletic Bilbao, also had British founders, and as a result they initially adopted English-style names. Joan Gamper used his past to form the team. Prior to forming this club, he played for Swiss clubs like FC Basel and FC Zurich. Even with forming the colors and crest of FC Barcelona, he looked back on his past clubs. He took Basel's colors and parts for the crest to form his new club. FC Barcelona quickly emerged as one of the leading clubs of both Catalonia and Spain as they competed in both the Campionat de Catalunya and the Copa del Rey. In 1901 they won their first trophy when they won the Copa Macaya and in 1902 they also played in the first Copa del Rey final, losing 2-1 to Club Vizcaya. With Gamper's seal (1908-1923) In 1911 Joan Gamper became club president for the first time. Gamper took over the presidency as the club was on the verge of folding. -

EL VIAJE DE EVA PERÓN A ESPAÑA1 Eva Perón’s journey to Spain Guadalupe Gómez Ferrer Morant Universidad Complutense de Madrid Resumen El objetivo de este artículo es dar cuenta de la fervorosa acogida y el entusiasmo que tanto el pueblo español como sus autoridades, desplegaron hacia Eva Duarte, la esposa del General Perón durante su estancia en nuestro país, del ocho al veintiséis de junio de 1947. Para entender el alcance internacional del mismo, se ha creído necesario partir de la contextualización internacional de ambos países y de los objetivos que cada uno se proponía al buscar el mutuo acercamiento. Acercamiento que adquiere gran resonancia con el viaje de Eva Duarte a España. Palabras claves: Eva Perón, viaje, gobierno peronista, España. Abstract The main purpose of this article is to give an account of the warm and enthusiastic welcome Eva Duarte, General Peron´s wife, received from both the Spanish authorities and people, during her stay in our country, from the eighth to the twenty-sixth of June, 1947. In order to understand its international extent, it´s necessary to start with both countries´ international context and each country’s main goals for mutual rapprochement. La "Supercopa de España" es la competición creada en 1982, que enfrenta al campeón de Liga contra el campeón de Copa. Ni ha ocurrido un Deja Vu, ni ha habido una equivocación exponiendo lo mismo dos veces consecutivas, sencillamente, porque no es lo mismo. Al menos, hablando de forma terminológica. El dilema es bién simple. La "Supercopa de España", con nombre propio, es una de las competiciones que enfrentan a los ya citados campeones, mientras que la "supercopa", con nombre común, vendría a ser el conjunto de competiciones en las que los ganadores de Copa y Liga se han enfrentado. Y es que, en resumidas cuentas, los enfrentamientos por ver quién es el supercampeón nacional empezaron allá por los años 40, mientras que la Supercopa de España nació posteriormente en los años 80. Como veis, las supercopas podrían dividirse en dos épocas, de las cuales, una sería entre los años 1940-1953, y la otra entre los años 1982 a la actualidad. Lo cierto y verdad es que en su primera época de vida, la competición siempre iba acompañada de una enorme expectación, puesto que por aquel entonces, la Liga y la Copa estaban al mismo nivel de reconocimiento, siendo sus campeones reconocidos como "campeones de España" (incluso en la prensa, en el año 1940 se seguía afirmando que el máximo campeón nacional era el campeón de Copa). -
