BEACH VOLLEYBALL L. DISTANCE TRACK CALIFORNIA PACIFIC CONFERENCE CONSTITUTION ARTICLE I: NAME C 1.1 NAME The name of this organization shall be the California Pacific Conference (aka: Cal Pac). ARTICLE II: PURPOSE C 2.1 PURPOSE The purpose of the Cal Pac is to assist in the educational development of students through intercollegiate athletics participation, namely: 1. To ensure that intercollegiate athletics is an integral part of the total educational offering. 2. To cultivate the broadest possible student involvement in the athletics program. 3. To maintain high ethical standards in the operation of the athletics program and in the conduct of student athletes. 4. To foster wholesome athletics participation among member institutions while providing for rivalry, competition, and championships. (6/19) 5. To promote gender equality while respecting institutional diversity. 6. To encourage common relationships among the member institutions and their various constituencies. 7. To support competition through agreed upon conference standards. 8. To enhance the opportunity for greater public recognition and media exposure. 9. To collect, disseminate and preserve conference, team, and individual records. 10. To establish policies and standards to build an ever-improving national reputation for the athletic programs while developing men and women of character who positively influence our teams, students, communities, national association, and society. (6/17) ARTICLE III: MEMBERSHIP C 3.1 HISTORY The Cal Pac was organized on May 24, 1995. Charter members were: Bethany College Pacific Union College California Maritime Academy Patten College Dominican College of San Rafael Simpson College Holy Names College C 3.2 CURRENT MEMBERSHIP University of Antelope Valley Pacific Union College Benedictine University - Mesa Providence Christian College California State University Maritime Academy University of Saint Katherine University of California-Merced Sierra Nevada University Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University of Arizona Simpson University La Sierra University Soka University of America Marymount California University Westcliff University Park University - Gilbert California Pacific Conference Constitution & Bylaws – 2021-22 1 C 3.3 STANDING MEMBERSHIP 3.3.1 Membership in the Cal Pac shall be limited to four-year colleges and universities as defined by the NAIA. 3.3.2 Institutions shall be active or associate members of the NAIA. 3.3.3 Institutions shall be geographically located in the Western states. (6/19) 3.3.4 Institutions shall have similar sports philosophy and agreement with Cal Pac purposes and Code of Conduct. 3.3.5 Standing member institutions have voting privileges on the Executive Council. 3.3.6 Membership in the Cal Pac shall not prohibit institutional membership in any other National or International multi-sport organization. Participation in other conferences is permitted for sports not sponsored by the Cal Pac Conference. 3.3.7 Standing members shall sponsor and compete in at least 50 percent of the conference-sponsored sports. (6/19) C 3.4 ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP 3.4.1 Associate members shall meet the requirements of standing members but because of institutional uniqueness may participate in a limited number of sport(s). 3.4.2 Associate members shall be members of the NAIA, but full members of the Cal Pac for the particular sport(s) in which they participate. 3.4.3 Associate members shall have a full vote on the Sport Committee(s) for the sport(s) in which they participate. C 3.5 NEW MEMBERS New members may be admitted to the Cal Pac Conference by the following process: 1. Be affirmed as an active or associate member of the NAIA. 2. Sponsor at least half of the sports offered by the Cal Pac. 3. Apply to the Cal Pac by August 15 the year in advance of the membership year by: 3.5.3.1 Letter from the institution’s CEO requesting membership. 3.5.3.2 List of sports to be sponsored (50% of Cal Pac, minimum). 3.5.3.3 $1,000 application fee. (6/13) 4. Supply an on-campus visit by the commissioner and/or membership committee. California Pacific Conference Constitution & Bylaws – 2021-22 2 5. Be affirmed by two-thirds vote by the CEOs of all standing conference members. 6. Upon membership approval, the following requirements apply: 3.5.6.1 One-year provisional status for all sports, per NAIA. 3.5.6.2 Teams placed in conference schedules for the subsequent year. 3.5.6.3 Contests do not count for conference standings in provisional year. 3.5.6.4 New members shall not be eligible for conference championships in their provisional year. 3.5.6.5 Full payment of annual conference dues in the provisional year. 3.5.6.6 A waiver may be granted in any of the above by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of all voting members. C 3.6 REINSTATEMENT 3.6.1 An institution which is placed on probation or suspended from conference membership may be reinstated through the following process: 3.6.1.1 Meet all NAIA requirements. 3.6.2 Written re-application from the CEO and athletics director. 3.6.3 Written confirmation of all sports sponsored. 3.6.4 $1,000 re-application fee. 3.6.5 A campus visit to the applying institution must be completed at least 30 days prior to the Cal Pac’s June meeting by at least three (3) members of the Directors Council. 3.6.6 The visitation team presents its recommendation to the full Directors Council at the June conference meetings. 3.6.7 Reinstatement approved by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of all voting members. 3.6.8 Once approved for reinstatement the following apply: 3.6.8.1 One-year provisional status for all sports. 3.6.8.2 Teams placed in conference schedules. 3.6.8.3 Contests not counted for conference championships. 3.6.8.4 Team not eligible for conference championships. 3.6.8.5 Payment of annual conference dues. C 3.7 WITHDRAWALS 3.7.1 An institution desiring to withdraw membership shall give one full academic year notice to the Cal Pac Conference Executive Council, and pay the equivalent of one-year’s dues upon departure. 3.7.2 The member institution shall complete Cal Pac Conference commitments through the remainder of the academic year in which the decision to leave is announced. 3.7.3 An institution failing to provide the prescribed notice of departure shall pay an exit California Pacific Conference Constitution & Bylaws – 2021-22 3 penalty of $50,000, due on June 1 of the year of departure. (1/15) C 3.8 SUSPENSION AND EXPULSION 3.8.1 Institutions may be suspended or expelled by two-thirds (2/3) vote of all standing member institutions.

Newport-Mesa Unified School District covers 58.83 square miles and includes the cities of Newport Beach and Costa Mesa, and other unincorporated areas. Newport-Mesa Unified School District has twenty-two elementary schools, two intermediate schools, four high schools, two alternative high schools and one virtual K-12 school. NMUSD currently serves approximately 19,500 students. Early College High School serves students in grades 9-12 from all areas of the district.
