Therefore, all of you are expected to create actionable knowledge. When you join any program at WBS, in addition to your experiences on campus, you also have access to our alumni network which is well over 5,800 alumni strong, and which is joined by around 300 new grad- uates every year. Additionally, the global WASEDA University alumni net- work includes over 660,000 current members. At WBS, we strongly believe that we have an obligation to develop the next generation of global leaders and financial professionals. Thanks to its people, facilities, and location in the heart of central Tokyo, WBS is a place with numerous opportunities for insightful and personal devel- opment. Interact with International MBA students from around the globe and Evening MBA students who are working as business manag- ers in Japan, or study abroad at our partner schools if you like. All these options are what make your campus life rich and exciting. We look forward to helping you take advantage of the opportuni- ties that await you at WBS. 6 Why Waseda Business School? Why Waseda Business School? 7 International MBA Program Coordinator Prof. Akie IRIYAMA

*Sabbatical year in 2022 Thank you for considering applying to the International MBA program at Waseda Business School! Our school is one of the most emerging busi- ness schools globally, which is reflected in our 2021 ranking (WBS is ranked No.1 in Japan by Eduniversal Best Masters Ranking). The Interna- tional MBA program is our flagship program. We annually welcome about 50-60 talented students from around 25 countries. Our program offers great and unique opportunities for you, all of which follow our three core visions. First, we emphasize “Actionable Knowledge.” We believe knowledge must be acted upon in practice. For this reason, many of our faculty members have an amazing wealth of practical experience. Second, we foster “Community-Based Learning.” We have a unique “Zemi” system, in which you have deep one-on-one communication with professors. Third, we seek to develop “Global Leaders.” As mentioned above, we have a highly diversified body of students, and you will have many opportunities to mingle with them and even with Japanese Evening MBA students (many of whom are currently working for leading Japa- nese companies). Finally, I am afraid that amid this tough situation triggered by the COVID-19 crisis, some of you may be anxious about studying overseas. WBS will do its very best to support your smooth transition to MBA life, both physically and virtually. Overall, our International MBA program of- fers an amazing set of opportunities for you to develop and inspire your- self. I hope I can see you on the WBS campus quite soon!

Student Testimonial A Great Way to Expand Your Professional and Personal Experience

I chose WBS because this program allows me to learn skills for my future career at an internationally accredited and well respected university while being immersed in the Japanese culture. Through this program, I have been able to meet professors with many different backgrounds and experiences which I find very important. In business, there is often no correct answer, so it is vital to understand the perspectives from people of all different backgrounds to have a well-rounded viewpoint. Beyond the classroom, I have met people from many different cultures I was never exposed to before and learned a lot from them as well. My experiences at WBS have helped me understand myself better and decide on a direction for my career.

Student Testimonial What’s Special about Getting My MBA in Japan

After learning about Japanese quality management programs such as Lean Six Sigma from having worked in the energy industry, I became interested in learning more about business from the Japanese perspective, which eventually led me to Waseda. While I have not been able to come to Japan yet due to the pandemic, I have had ample virtual interaction with students and professors from not only Japan, but also all over the world. At Waseda, we are grouped into zemi’s or small seminar cohorts. My zemi with Professor Iriyama has been a highlight of my experience. Here, we have learned about various Japanese business trends from the tendency of Japanese companies to have high cash holdings to the emerging V-tubing industry - thank you Waseda!

Broadening the Horizons on Different Cultures

The DMBA with Waseda and NTU has certainly exceeded my expectations . From the ease of getting around campus, prime residence location, the variety of business lectures available, to the school and administrative support, the DMBA journey has been a thrill and a growing experience to say the least. While being in a foreign place, I never felt alone or left to tackle the obstacles that came my way because of the support and team that was there for me. Additionally, the curriculum provides a holistic view of business from all parts of the world in all the industries we want to learn more about. This DMBA is something everyone should consider doing if they are passionate about learning about Asia, business, broadening their horizons on different cultures and languages, and ultimately growing as an individual.
