The school bells rang across the city just a short time ago and there is more than the Club Events & usual excitement in the air. The Beaumont Enterprise article by Julie Chang (Sunday, Meeting Makeup September 2) reports, "Timothy Chargois will walk into his office Tuesday as the new Opportunties Beaumont ISD officer, and although his tenure will be rife with challenges, stakeholders seem to be overwhelingly optimistic."

Fundraising Total Gets a HUGE Boost!

Wednesday, August 22 saw a HUGE jump of the thermometer totals for the Centennial Playground fundraising. Jean Moncla made a presentation of $22,000 from the Dishman Foundation, managed through the Capital One Trust department, to the total. Rotarians responded to the announcement with a huge round of applause and a renewed excitement about reaching the goal. Thank you to Jean, Capital One, and, of course, the Dishman Foundation.

September 30 Something Chairman Leslie Harrison announces that the next 30 Something gathering will be Thursday, September 20. Mark your calendar - whether you are a Red or a Blue Badge - and plan to come learn something new about Rotary!

30 Something ... it's not just for Red Badges anymore!

The first group of Rotarians gathered and organized on February 26, 1913 and made application to Rotary International at the end of May in 1913. You can see a copy of the original application by linking here. (Click on the photo once open and it will enlarge to be readable.)

On June 1, 1913, with 39 members, the Rotary Club of Beaumont was officially chartered by Rotary International.

PROGRAM REVIEW August 25 - 30, 2012 "Rotary Goes Home"

The celebrations began, and a good time was had by all! There were birthday parties across the area as Rotarians enjoyed the annual Rotary Goes Home while also celebrating the Club's 100th anniversary, with birthday cakes and even candles on some! We thank the many Rotarians and spouses who so graciously opened their homes to entertain these gatherings: Steve Doblin, David Heinz, Tolbert Chisum, Floyd McSpadden, Sharon and Roger McCabe, Sharen Kirksey and Leonard Juncker, Chad Blanchard, Ted Moor, Lynn Castle, and Larry Beaulieu.

Special thanks again go to Julana Phoenix with Something Special Bakery and Cakes by Julana for donating the birthday cakes for each party.
