Claymont PTO General Board Meeting Minutes Nov 4, 2019 The PTO General Meeting was called to order by Co-Presidents at 6:30 pm. A motion to approve the October 7th, 2019 minutes was passed. Let the general population know that the minutes are added to the PTO website about after each meeting.

Treasurer’s Report – Tiffany Franklin (on behalf of Elizabeth Beauboeuf) Presented handouts with the Balance Sheet, Profit/loss summary, and Budget Summary.

Co-Vice President’s/Special Projects Report – Brica Griffith &Tiffany Thomas Special Projects: The 2019-2020 school year special project is updating the open classroom/technology rooms between the 2nd grade and 3rd grade classrooms – rooms 702 and 807. Co-VPs have been collecting bids for the past 2 months. Tiffany Thomas presented a PowerPoint presentation showing the plan for the two rooms. Office Essentials, which is a Parkway approved vendor, has been hired to provide the new furniture and storage cabinets. Room 702 (old Tech Specialist room) will have a Step Sofa, L-Shaped desk with wobble stools, and a smart TV. Room 807 will have modular tables and storage cabinets. Current chalkboards will be repurposed as whiteboards (Parkway will take care of the boards). The cost of this project is $16,250.61. This project is covered from raised during Nights and Family Nights.

Fundraising Officer’s Report – Lauren Deichmann Shorthorn Spirit Campaign: The campaign has brought in $22,915 so far! Upcoming Spirit Events: There will be two events on Late Start Day – Wednesday, November 20th – A Spirit Morning at The Shack, and a Spirit Night at Chick Fil-a, 5pm- 8pm. Then...Claymont will have its first Parent’s event at Lifetime Fitness on Friday, November 22nd, from 6-10pm! Fliers will be sent home via backpack mail this week; there will also be a way to register via the Membership Toolkit. The next fundraising event will be a shopping night at Paperdolls on Wednesday, December 4th, from 7-9pm. Spirit Mornings/Nights/Events brought in so far: $1,183.69! (Panera ($233.69); Culvers ($480); Dewey’s ($300); Duck Donuts ($170); The Shack ($); Chick-Fil-A ($); Lifetime Fitness PNO ($); Paperdolls ($); Panda Express ($); Chuck E Cheese ($); The Haus ($); Culvers ($); Menchies ($)). Volunteer Coordinator’s Report - Alicia Bogue Volunteer needs are in a lull right now, as the major Fall events are over. Trivia Night is the next big event that will have a need for volunteers. Then, a Spring push will be sent out for Talent Show and Family Night volunteers.

Principal’s Report – Dr. Burch & Mr. Moeckel Everyone “survived” , the day after Halloween, and the day after the end of Daylight Saving time. The first Trimester ends on Thursday, November 7th – please be on the look out for progress reports. The month of November will be focused on Integrity; a flier will be sent home with ideas of things to do to support the November theme of Integrity.

Co-President’s Report – Tiffany Franklin & Ashley Jamison a). Spirit Wear Update: Thank you to Carole Newport - the Spirit Wear Chair; 306 Spirit Wear items were sold in the Fall sale (vs 174 items this time last year)!! The Fall orders will go home in backpack mail today (Monday, November 4th). There will be a Spring Spirit Wear sale as well. b). Red Ribbon Week: Week went great...the Spirit Days were fun...all in all it was a successful week! Thank you to Rachel LeClaire - Red Ribbon week chair. Red Ribbon Week took place Tuesday, October 22nd through Friday, October 25th. Each day had a theme for the students to participate in; Tuesday – ‘Sock it to Drugs’ (students wear silly socks); Wednesday – ‘Color the World Drug Free’ (students wear their favorite colors); Thursday - ‘Don’t Let Drugs Steal Your Dreams’ (students wear pajamas to school); Friday - ‘Turn Your Back on Drugs’ (students wear shirts backwards). c). Trunk or Treat: Trunk or Treat took place on Friday, October 25th. The Event went great! The weather was great, there was plenty of candy, the pumpkin carving contest pumpkins were all very creative! A big Thank you to Susan Wright – the Trunk or Treat chair! d). December PTO Special Speaker: Dr. Catherine Hasler will be the special guest speaker for the December 3rd PTO General meeting. The presentation topic is Mental Health Matters. Parents are encouraged to attend. e). Trivia Night: Planning is going well. The Silent Auction committee is collecting lots of great items for the auction. The Trivia Night Theme will be rolled out with a “Save the Date” flier soon (Saturday, January 25th)! Colleen Beach is the Trivia Night chair, and is need of volunteers! f). PTO Website and Facebook page: Amazon Smile, Schnucks eScripts info to be posted on Facebook. Special PTO Funds Request There were no special funds requests at the Nov 4th PTO meeting. (Approval required for amounts greater than $500); Are there any questions? A motion on floor to approve?
