The Chordettes: Best known for the hit songs “Mr. Sandman” and “Lollipop,” The Chordettes often sang a capella. The group first got together in Wisconsin in 1946, and originally sang in a folk music style, which later evolved to include tight harmonies. Songs that made the Top Ten on the charts: “Mr. Sandman” (#1), “Born to Be With You” (#5), “Just Between You and Me” (#8), and “Lollipop” (#2).

The McGuire Sisters: Made up of three sisters, Ruby, Dorothy, and Phyllis, The McGuire Sisters started singing in their mother’s church in Ohio. The group performed for five American Presidents: Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, and George HW Bush, and were often guests on The Ed Sullivan Show, The Milton Berle Show, and The Dean Martin Show. Songs that made the top 10: “Goodnight, Sweetheart, Goodnight” (#7), “” (#10), “Sincerely” (#1), “Something’s Gotta Give” (#5), “He” (#10), and “” (#10).
