Essentially a Philanthropist and a visionary, a seasoned politician, Sri Ramtahal Choudhary is a person who dares to dream big and commands the ability to realize it. He dreamt of an educated elevated society and left no stone unturned in materializing the same. He is identified as a significant force in transforming the very face of education in the state.

The GAV SAMITI took shape about 36 years ago under his able leadership and went about building schools, Intermediate, degree and B. Ed. Colleges (about 40 such till now) and of course, a technical college as well in 2008. RTCIT has the best captain for its crew; It has a very highly educated, widely travelled, immensely experienced and a charismatic individual in the persona of Dr. A. P. Singh. He is certainly the main architect behind the shaping up of RTCIT and has truly taken the legacy of Sri R. T. Choudhary forward.

Because of the exuberant vigour and untiring efforts of Dr. Singh, Prof. Aditya Pratap Singh RTCIT has witnessed meteoric rise in a short span of time. Be it the Director architecturally splendid buildings; the ever advancing system or the state- RTC Institute of Technology of-the-art ambience, it all bears a stamp of its distinguished director.

Our Principal Prof. Avinash Chandra Sinha did his B. Sc. In Chemical Engineering from BIT, Sindri in 1970, M Tech. from IIT, Kharagpur in 1974. With more than 39 years of experience in leadership roles in areas of manufacturing, project Management, Product Development and Education across industries like non-ferrous metal, atomic energy, petroleum coke and technological Institution, Prof. Sinha has most ably led profit Centres/ SBU, focused on cost control, process & productivity improvement, on-time project delivery and increasing revenue/profits. Industries like Prof. Avinash Chandra Sinha Principal Hindalco Industries Limited, AVP(Alumina Operations), Renukoot, RTC Institute of Technology Uttar Pradesh, Uranium Corporation of India Ltd. and the like, all bear a memorable stint of Prof. Sinha as an efficient and competent personality.

For the last 4 years, he has been heading RTC Institute of Technology. He has been quite instrumental in the progress and overall development of the institute. No wonder, RTCIT is now renowned as a premier Technical Institute of the state.

6 RTC Institute of Technology (RTCIT) approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and affiliated to Ranchi University, Ranchi is a rapidly emerging as a technical institution for running B. Tech. Degree Programs and Diploma programs in Engineering. It aims at consolidating itself as the pioneer technical institution of the state.

The institute was established in the year 2008 by GAV SAMITI (a 36 year old trust) working in the field of education, having around 40 schools, Intermediate, degree and B. Ed. Colleges spread all over the state of Jharkhand, serving a large population and igniting the spark of quality education in the remotest and inaccessible areas of the state.

The institute is situated in a lush green environment on NH-33 (Ranchi-Ramgarh) about 20 km away from the capital city (Ranchi). It is surrounded by scenic water bodies, hills, natural landscapes and a perfect pollution free atmosphere most conducive for academic pursuit. It is located about 1.75 km from Ormanjhi Block Chowk on Sikidari Road..

10 Billed as the mother of all branches, Civil Engineering has a pivotal role to play not only in shaping up numerous young careers but also in realizing goals of national importance. All slogans of national repute like, “Shelter for all”, “Road to Every Village” and even projects of national significance like “the Golden Quadrilateral Project” or the “National Highway Project” can be materialized only through skilled civil engineers. The Department of Civil Engineering was established at RTCIT in the year 2012 with an intake of 60 students, which has increased to 120 seats now. Armed with state-of-the-art laboratories, tools and equipment, it boasts of a team of highly qualified and experienced pool of faculty. The department ofC omputer Science & Engineering has emerged into a very sophisticated section in a very small period of time since its inception in 2008. The Department has 3 Computer Centre Labs catering to all academic and industrial needs of the students, apart from aiding curriculum in different disciplines of engineering as well. The major attraction of the department is its well-equipped units with high quality resources and facilities

14 ECE is one of the core branches of engineering and it was added to the institute in the session 2011-12. This branch is both conservative and modern and it possesses tremendous potential of employment at the same time. The department essentially deals with digital logic circuits, microprocessors, digital signal processing, communication engineering, design and simulation, VLSI and project labs. And all these labs are fortified with sophisticated instruments and trainer kits to facilitate better demonstration and easier understanding of the students.

18 Mechanical engineering is a discipline of engineering that applies the principles of engineering, physics and materials science for analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. It is the branch of engineering that involves the production and usage of heat and mechanical power for the design, production, and operation of machines and tools. It is one of the oldest and broadest engineering disciplines. RTC Institute of Technology has been nurturing this evergreen branch since its foundation in 2008. Civil Engineering 60

For Diploma : Students must have passed 10th/ SSC or equivalent and secured minimum of 35% Mechanical Engineering 120 marks in qualifying examination. *Seat under approval

Electrical and Electronics Engineering 60

The 3-year Diploma programme was introduced in the session 2012-13 with two branches namely, Mechani- cal (60) and Civil (60). The Mechanical branch has been further increased to 120 seats in the completion of its first year itself. Also, a whole new branch, Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) with 60 seats makes for another exclusive entry. The diploma program is extremely well run with a glittering team of very knowledgeable and experienced faculty, sophisticated laboratories and advanced tools and equipment. As has been the tradition of RTCIT, there is a composite and consistent focus on the holistic development of the students.

20 The youngest students at RTCIT get the most focused and constant nurturing from one and all. Apart from serene ragging free environment, the young RTCITians also avail themselves of exclusive committees and clubs for counselling, discussions and even recreational purposes. Moreover, regular visits to plants and companies, continual workshops and seminars ensure that they gain maximum exposure of the corporate world and enhance their personalities in turn.

21 Department of Basic Sciences and Humanities

All students of the institute, irrespective of their individual branches, are taught common subjects like Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Communicative English and Behavioral Science. A glittering team of skilled, knowledgeable and dedicated faculty members of the same strive to train the students in basic sciences, language and its application for engineering systems. This particular training serves for a solid foundation and a stable platform for further studies. The department has laboratories with equipment, tools, chemicals and experimental set-ups for clear understanding of the subjects.

The Department also provides for training on “interpersonal skills”, “Body Language”, ProfessionalE tiquettes”, “ Writing Skills” etc. Language Lab The institute boasts of a state-of-the-art Language Lab to cater to the ever-increasing needs of the academic as well as the industrial arena. Currently, it has a 30-seat sophisticated lab which also doubles up as a Career Lab.

22 Co-Curricular Activities

RTCIT gives substantial focus to co-curricular and extra-curricular activities of its students. The Institute takes special interest in the holistic development of its students and therefore has a balanced mix of cultural and sporting activities. All important Days are celebrated such as Republic Day, Independence Day, Engineer’s Day, Saraswati Puja, Vishwakarma Puja etc. in which students zealously participate. Utsav is RTCIT’s trademark annual function cum fest that runs through a few days with the final summation. And Smriti, is the yearly souvenir that publishes miscellaneous literary, informative, interesting and entertaining compositions from faculty and students alike. Students are also encouraged to take part in various inter college/State/National level competitions etc. The institute has a large playground for playing football, hockey, cricket badminton etc. in the campus. There is an exclusive department to look after this. The department directs the students to take out the best from them. And their achievements and performances are duly acknowledged by giving the students awards, prizes and scholarships etc. Moreover, the entire institute is divided into committees for cultural, Sports, Literary, Techni- cal, Social, Environmental aspects. NSS National Service Scheme, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports Govt. of India, popularly known as NSS was launched in Gandhiji’s Birth Centenary Year 1969, in 37 Universities involving 40,000 students with primary focus on the development of personality of students through community service. RTCIT avidly indulges in all philanthropic and futuristic activities to deliver its share back to the society, country and environment.

Training and Placement Cell

With an optimistic and pragmatic approach towards training and ultimately placements, the Training and Placement cell has a strategically planned calendar every year. It works hand in hand with every branch. The institute has taken it on itself to ensure that each RTCITian is not only a thorough technical asset but also a dynamic personality to match with. The Cell also realizes this objective by conducting in-house trainings and facilitating industry exposure trips and trainings. These trainings include technical, communicative, personality and other aspects as well. A common Communicative Training Module(in the English Language) is run for all students in the second year with a view to instill the much-required confidence and ease. Branch-specific Technical Modules are carried out at the beginning of the final year to provide the students with that quite sought-after edge in the corporate world.

Also, the institute takes special care in organizing workshops, seminars and various interactive sessions for the students from time to time. The cell works in close co-operation with such reputable industries like SAIL, Usha Martin, HEC, Jindal Power, training Institutes like IBM, NIIT, Consultancies and organizations like MECON Ltd., BSNL, Research and Development centre of SAIL and CMPDI (CIL)at Ranchi for imparting training to the students.

26 Amidst pure nature RTC institute is spread in an area of about 20 acres, offering most comprehensive and modern infrastructure facilities to suit the needs of the contemporary and future generations of engineers. There are five massive buildings strategically located across the campus apart from some others. The campus can be broadly divided into six main buildings apart from other minor ones: • Administrative Block • Academic Block • Mechanical Block • Workshop • Girls’ Hostel • Boys’ Hostel Workshop The institute Workshop is one of its kind. It is a huge hall with all the shops, such as: • Fitting Shop • Welding Shop • Carpentry shop • Machine Shop • Foundry and Hot Working Shop etc. It has all the tools and machines to provide hands on training to the students. Hostel Facilities The institute has separate hostel facility for both girls and boys within the campus with the following features: Separate Hostel facilities for Boys and Girls (within campus) with excellent catering provision at affordable rates. Discipline is the buzzword throughout the campus with an absolute friendly ambience. It is endowed with all basic facilities: water, electricity, neat and clean washrooms etc. There is un-interrupted power supply by JSEB and the back-up generators. The campus is lush green and it is provided with solar street lighting across the campus. There is a separate kitchen and mess as well which ensures timely quality meals to the inmates. There is a Matron along with security guards to look after the safety concerns. The Hostelers have access to all the academic, transport, medical, recreational, routine and other amenities and facilities 24x7.

27 Library Living virtually in the ICE(Information, Communication and entertainment) age, we recognize the importance of INFORMATION as the most significant input in the making of intellectual, global technocrats. Recognizing the potential of Library in providing information services to meet the requirements of the students’ academic and Research Programs as well as to cater to the teaching fraternity, the Library was set up as one of the key divisions of RTC Institute of Technology in 2008 itself. Since then it has been acting as the main information and learning Resource Centre of the college.

This technically-advanced library is home to more than 7000 volume of books, national and international journals, magazines and the like. With a well-furnished and peaceful ambience the library is spread in an area of 950 sq. meters to accommodate a large number of students. A digital library with a large number of CDs is also available. E-journals and a tech-savvy approach add to its splendor.

The digital Library provides for the quest for all-round knowledge. As the students, with the help of hi-tech equipment and tools, explore newer horizons of information and knowledge. The Library remains open till late into the evening, apart from the regular day timings. Canteen and Mess Mess facility is provided to all students living in the hostel. The meals include breakfast, lunch, evening tea and dinner. The mess is under able supervision of a Mess Committee comprising student representatives and the Hostel Superintendent. Availability of quality food items, fresh seasonal vegetables and cleanliness are given top priority here.

A centralized canteen in the campus provides tea, snacks, breakfast, lunch etc. during the institute timing. The canteen area has been increased of late to match the increase in the number of students. Absolutely neat and hygienic measures are practiced.

28 Anti-Ragging Measures

RTC Institute of Technology has already earned the reputation as an institution that is free from the evil of Ragging. This has become possible because of the prevalent ambience of camaraderie cultivated assiduously among students from various regions of the state and even country.

The institute management takes all necessary measures to prevent, in fact, eliminate the very source of ragging including misconduct by any senior student to raise fear in any junior student, which causes or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship, any psychological or physical harm.

Ragging is totally prohibited in and outside the institution in any form. If anyone is found guilty of ragging or even abetting ragging, he or she is liable to be punished in accordance with regulation as well as under the provision of any penal law. A high level anti-ragging committee has been functional for a long time now to look into all such matters in an unbiased and fair manner. In other words, the institute is 100% ragging free.
