It is written for the foreign missionaries and the members of the Unification Church. The Reverend Sun Myung Moon is its founder. The purpose of this journal is to be a source of information and inspiration for its readers, a forum for their exchange of news and testimonies, and a sharing of heart among the brothers and sisters of the Unification Church's worldwide movement. Members of the Unification movement generally address or refer to Rev. and Mrs. Moon as "Father" and "Mother." 3 CHILDREN'S DAY A I..: 0 LI- s i5! 4 In Korea we have an old saying that sons and daughters always feel regret when the parents are not there or have passed away. When the parents are still present the children do not appreciate their value and love. But when the parents 1984 are gone they desperately try to make up for the lack of filial piety they showed toward their parents. MRS. HAK JA HAN MOON In the fallen world there is no terminology such as True Parents, Parents Day, or Children's Day. Because of the fall EAST GARDEN, all these wonderful heavenly blessings were lost. Only OCTOBER 24, 1984 because of the presence of the True Parents are we able to celebrate Children's Day; only because of their advent are we able to talk about the True Parents, and attend and love them. 5 During this time of Father's incarceration and suffering, the only truly reciprocal response on the part of the children would be to bring unity among all the members of our church. When we think of these most historical, magnificent FULFILLING accomplishments we are deeply moved by occasions like the IL JEUNG PRAYER one we celebrate today. We know we are the people chosen from all the multitudes You know we have the Il Jeung prayer condition. I hope of humanity to know and serve the True Parents. I am sure all of you are fulfilling the Il Jeung prayer. I would like to we are going through a great deal of repentance, for shame ask you to establish from this Children's Day a 40-day prayer has stained our church's history. condition in which the trinities get together, pray, and become When God handpicks someone it is for the sake of the united. Unification Church of the United States From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia The Unification Church of the United States is a new religious movement in the United States of America. It began in the 1950s and 1960s when missionaries from Japan and South Korea were sent to the United States by the international Unification Church's founder and leader Sun Myung Moon. It expanded in the 1970s and then became involved in controversy due to its theology, its political activism, and the life style of its members. Since then it has been involved in many areas of American society and has itself gone through substantial changes. Among them were Young Oon Kim, Sang Ik-Choi, Bo Hi Pak, David S. C. Kim, and Yun Soo Lim. Missionary work took place in Washington D.C., New York, Oregon, and California.[1] The church first came to public notice in the United States after sociology student John Lofland studied Young Oon Kim's group and published his findings as a doctoral thesis entitled: The World Savers: A Field Study of Cult Processes , which was published in 1966 in book form by Prentice-Hall as Doomsday Cult: A Study of Conversion, Proselytization, and Maintenance of Faith.

By that time, Moon and the Unification Church (UC) had generated controversy throughout the United States over a variety of issues. Many Americans were distressed by the recruitment techniques of the UC. Others questioned the failure of the UC to state openly its ties with the numerous groups it had set up; the use to which it 312 put its tax-exempt status; the propriety of its owning and operating an armaments plant in South Korea; possible links to the South Korean Government; and Moon's statements in late 1973 and 1974 concerning President Nixon and Watergate. The most volatile controversy raged around the charges that "Moonies" were brainwashed. The UC in turn countercharged that parents were kidnaping UC members for "deprogramming" and successfully obtained court orders restricting the activities of the deprogrammers.

Mose Durst - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mose_Durst&printable=yes Mose Durst From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Mose Durst (born 1939) is an author, educator, and the former president of the Unification Church of the United States.[1] He was born in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, New York City; then an Orthodox Jewish community; to immigrants from Russia. He received a Master's degree and Ph.D while studying English Literature at the University of Oregon. He taught at Laney College in Oakland, California. In 1972 he converted from Judaism [2] and joined the Unification Church in Oakland, then became a lecturer and a church leader in California. In 1974, he married Korean missionary Yon Soo Lim, and they led the Northern California church together. [3] In 1980, Durst was appointed by Unification Church founder Sun Myung Moon as the president of the American church. As church president Durst expanded some of the successful practices of the Northern California church to the national level. [4] [5][3][6] In 1984, Durst expressed regret over misunderstandings between Unification Church members and some members of the Jewish community. He placed blame for this both on the members' "youthful zeal and ignorance" and on the community's "insecurity." [7] That same year he wrote in his autobiography: "Our relations with the Jewish community have been the most painful to me personally. I say this with a heavy heart, since I was raised in the Jewish faith and am proud of my heritage." [8] Durst currently teaches literature and history to middle school students at the Principled Academy, a Unification Church sponsored school in San Leandro, California, and is the chairman of the school's board.

  • Appendix: the Numerological Significance of the Blessings
Appendix: The Numerological Significance of the Blessings As previously explained, the numbers of couples undergoing the Bless ing are regarded as symbolic. The symbolic meanings given by the Unification Church are provided here. On occasion the actual number blessed does not exactly correspond to the symbolic number. This is deemed to be unimportant, however. When referring to a specific Blessing ceremony, Unificationists will usually cite its symbolic rather than its actual number. Thus, the 1963 ceremony is often referred to as the '120 couples', even though there were four extra couples who were allowed to participate. The analysis is culled from Unificationist literature, principally speeches of the Rev Moon and an account of his life written by a Mr Dijk.l 1961: 36 Couples 36 = 12 x 3. 12 represents the number of apostles and the tribes of Israel. 3 represents three categories of individual: (i) virgins ('Abraham type'); (ii) those who had sexual relationships within marriage ('Adam type'); (iii) those who had sexual relationships outside marriage ('Noah type'). By solemnising the marriages of 12 couples from each category, it was demonstrated that salvation was available to all. Although the '36 Couples' Blessing' is frequently mentioned by Unificationists as if it were a single event, in reality there were three separate ceremonies: 3 couples (1960), 9 couples (1960), and a further 24 couples (1961). It is held that Jesus should have conducted the marriages of his three closest disciples: these three ideally should have included John the Baptist, who (according to Unification thought) refused to submit himself to Jesus; but through John's default the inner circle of three became Peter, James and John.

  • 40 Years in America 4 When a Person Prays Earnestly for Understanding, Should He Not Listen and Be Guid- Ed by the Answers and Revelations He Receives? Yes, He Should
The Early Mission 1959 1971 Rev, Moon creating the Washington, D.C. Holy Ground on March 14, 1965. It is next to a large evergreen in the middle of the lawn, west of the Capitol Building. THE MASTER SPEAKS Rev. Sun Myung Moon These questions and answers have been transcribed from tapes made during our Leader’s sessions with members and guests at Centers throughout the United States during his trip in March and April 1965. Since God is the source of life, power, happiness and joy, you always long to go to Him. If God chose an instrument, an agency on earth to dwell with Him and be with Him to a greater extent than any other person, would your spirit not long to be with that one? In this way, the hearts of the people of the whole world will be turned to one center. When you long to see a man or a woman, any human being, your longing or your love is one-sided. But when you long to see God or His representative, or the being with whom God dwells, then your feeling would be that of joy and love, a harmonious feeling with the world, and a mysterious joy and power within yourself. It is a universal feeling direct- ed to all people and all things, not just toward one man or one woman. When your longing to be with one with whom God dwells is strong, then your spiritual experiences start. In our group, we do not make any effort to develop our psychic abilities.
