Head to this link to receive a $200 QuestFest discount for each girl in your troop! https://bit.ly/TFGQUEST PEARLS SPONSOR LIST OF QUESTS #LikeABoss While women make up over half of the population and earn over 60% of bachelor and master’s degrees, we only represent about 25% of management in the work force and less than that in higher positions. Let’s start looking around for role models we can learn from so that we can change that. Think about some of your favorite businesses; shops, restaurants, small businesses, public services, non-profits, etc. Can you think of any of those businesses that have a female manager, admin- istrator, director, some other leader, or owner? If she’s okay with it, ask her permission to post a photo of her on your social media for this challenge. Use #LikeABoss, tag her business, and tell us a bit about her and what makes her such an awesome role model GOLD AWARD SPONSORS for girls. Submit a screen shot of your post to earn your points and spread the inspiration! Photo submission; Maximum Points – up to 93 A Dog’s Best Friend We all know that a Girl Scout is a dog’s best friend. And while lions may be the king of beasts, we’re willing to bet your kitty may be the king or queen of your castle. Prove it. Make your pet feel like the awesome animal royalty they are. Favorite treat? Favorite toy? Eating from the table? Sleeping in the place they never get to? Fabulous accessories? It’s totally up to you, just submit a picture to prove how you were extra kind to the furry (or feathered or scaled, whatever!) friend in your house who loves you so much! Bonus points if we can see how much your furry friend is loving the experience from the look on SILVER AWARD SPONSORS his / her face. Photo submission; Maximum Points – up to 147 A Winning Argument But that’s not fair! Maybe, or maybe not. But you’ve got to have a better argument than that! Is there a household rule that you don’t agree with? Maybe you want a later bedtime or curfew? Maybe you think you should have a raise in your allowance (or an allowance at all)? Watch PG-13 movies? Have your chores redistributed with some of your siblings? Friends over on a school night? Now’s your chance! Have that awkward but necessary conversation. Prepare your thoughts and examples, and - when you’re ready, take a deep breath, keep calm, and represent your case to the judge and the jury (i.e. your parent(s)). When negotiations are over, no matter what the outcome, with a member of the jury (i.e. an adult to whom you were appealing), film a short video to tell us 1) For what you were petitioning 2) What some of the points of your argument were and 3) From the adult, the result of the case. Good luck and may the odds be ever in your favor! Video submission; Maximum Points – up BRONZE AWARD SPONSORS to 173 Balancing the Books Professionally, the phrase “balancing the books” is an accounting term that basically means adding all of your income and subtracting all of your debts. But in QuestFest, balancing the books means, well, just that: balancing the books. Except the books should be on your head. Oh, and they should be hard-back as well (and NOT kids’ books). Snap a photo of you balancing up to 9 books on your head to earn 11 points per book for your team. The judges should be able to easily count the books in the photo. Photo submission; Maximum Points – up to 99 Be Prepared to Travel with EF Tours Our friends at EF Tours for Girls have been empowering Girl Scouts through travel for over 50 years! Whether you want to zip-line through the jungles of Costa Rica, strike a pose in front of the famed Eiffel Tower in Paris, or shop at the Harajuku boutiques of Tokyo, they can turn your travel dreams into reality. Visit this link https://bit. ly/QFTFG and follow the 5 easy steps to earn big points for your team AND be prepared for your next adventure once we can all begin travelling again. Photo collage submission; Maximum Points – up to 627 Be Prepared with Speros From phone systems to websites, Speros has been leading the way in technology for over TREFOIL SPONSORS 30 years. Speros is not only Savannah’s largest business technology services company, they also help power the work of the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia, including QuestFest! From phone systems to websites. Working so closely with Girl Scouts, Speros understands the importance of “being prepared,” and that includes being prepared for disasters that hit our homes or businesses. Visit https://speros.com/how-to-create-a-backup-and-disaster-recovery-plan/ to get some ideas for starting your own disaster plan. Create a document that lists personal contacts needed in an emergency: family, friends, neighbors, insurance companies, schools, banks, doctors, pharmacies, etc. (Later, NOT for this Quest, come back and include information like account & policy numbers, etc.). Start an emergency supply kit and figure out one way to back up your data and important family documents is suggested as well. Note all of this on your document, then screen cap it. Submit the image to earn points and be prepared in case of disaster! • Rock Star Bon Jovi Washes Dishes to Keep His Community
Rock Star Bon Jovi Washes Dishes to Keep His Community Fed Week of July 19, 2020 In the News Had this been a normal summer, rock superstar Jon Bon Jovi, 58, would be on tour with his rock band Bon Jovi, but the global pandemic put the kibosh on that. So instead, Bon Jovi -- the man, not the band -- filled in as a dishwasher at the JBJ Soul Kitchen, a nonprofit community restaurant in New Jersey operated by the Jon Bon Jovi Soul Foundation. And one outcome of that is a new song he wrote with help from his fans to tell their stories of life during the shutdown. The song is called "If You Can't Do What You Do, You Do What You Can." The JBJ Soul Kitchen, now in operation in three New Jersey locations, is an effort to address food insecurity -- hunger -- among people in need. The menu, which features fresh farm-to-table meals, has no posted prices. Patrons who can afford to do so make a donation to cover their own meal and the meal of someone else. Individuals or families who cannot afford to donate are fed anyway, and those who are able can pay it forward by volunteering for tasks in the kitchen, such as washing dishes. The JBJ Soul Kitchen website expresses the philosophy this way: "Community Dining with Dignity. All are welcome at our table where locally sourced ingredients, dignity and respect are always on the menu." The required increased social distancing ordered during the pandemic upended the Soul Kitchen's normal practices, especially when meals could only be served by take-out and the public could not be allowed in the kitchen, so Bon Jovi filled in at one of the restaurant's locations as a dishwasher.

Habakkuk #4 - From Routine to Real Relationship With God - Well, howdy. Pastor Mark Driscoll here wanting to welcome you to the Habakkuk series, Honest to God, where a guy brings them all of his questions and complaints to God. God actually takes his call. Kind of like a call in talk radio show, and gives him a series and set of answers. It's an amazing book that really fits the mood of our times. It's an honor to teach it to you. And if you'd like to find the entire series, or more of my Bible teaching, you can visit markdriscoll.org. All right, if you've got a Bible go to the little book of Habakkuk, it's basically around the middle of your Bible. This is our last week in the book of Habakkuk, and we're in chapter three. So we tend to be creatures of habit. How many of you are routine people? You're creatures of habit, amen? You've got a routine. How many of you have got a morning routine? You wake up, you check the news, you get depressed. You pray for the rapture. You go back to bed. You've got a routine. How many of you aren't even Christians 'til you get a cup of coffee? You're not even a good Christian 'til you get a pot of coffee, okay? How many of you have got a bedtime routine? How many of you have got a certain way that you drive to work? How many of you, your day, or your week, or your month, or your year, it falls into a pattern in preceded, because you are a routine person.

At the same time that England saw the flourishing of Shakespeare on the Elizabethan stage, Spain produced prodigious talents such as Lope de Vega, Tirso de Molina, and Calderón de la Barca. Although those names may not resonate with the force of the Bard in the Anglo- phone world, the hundreds of entertaining, complex plays they wrote, and the stage tradition they helped develop, deserve to be better known.
