Don't know what's coming tomorrow Maybe it's trouble and sorrow But we'll travel the road sharin' our load Side by side. Through all kind of weather What if the sky should fall As long as we're together It doesn't matter at all. When they've all had their quarrels and parted We'll be the same as we started Just to travel along singing a song Side by side. “For the Beauty of the Earth” 2 For the beauty of the earth, For the glory of the skies, For the love which from our birth Over and around us lies: Lord of all, to you we raise This our hymn of grateful praise. For the beauty of each hour, Of the day and of the night, Hill and vale and tree and flow’r, Sun and moon, and starts of light: Lord of all, to you we raise This our hymn of grateful praise. For the joy of human love, Brother, sister, parent, child, Friends on earth and friends above; For all gentle thoughts and mild: Lord of all, to you we raise This our hymn of grateful praise. “Blue Moon" 3 Blue moon You saw me standing alone Without a dream in my heart Without a love of my own Blue moon You knew just what I was there for You heard me saying a pray for Someone I really could care for Then there suddenly appeared before me, The only one my arms will ever hold. I heard somebody whisper please adore me, And when I looked the moon had turned to gold. Blue moon You saw me standing alone Without a dream in my heart Without a love of my own Blue moon Without a love of my own "Moon River" 4 Moon River, wider than a mile, I'm crossing you in style, some day, Oh dream maker, you heart breaker, Wherever you're goin', I'm goin' your way, Two drifters, off to see the world, There's such a lot of world to see, We're after the same rainbows end, Waitin' ‘round the bend, My Huckleberry friend, Moon River, and me! Moon River, wider than a mile, I'm crossing you in style, some day . Two drifters, off to see the world, There's such a lot of world to see, We're after the same rainbows end, Waitin' ‘round the bend, My Huckleberry friend, Moon River, and me! Moon River, and me . “Away, Away, Come Away with Me” 5 (sung to the tune of ‘Greensleeves’ from “How the West Was Won”) Away, away, come away with me Where the grass grows wild and the winds blow free Away, away, come away with me And I'll build you a home in the meadow Come, come, there's a wondrous land For the hopeful heart and the willing hand Come, come, there's a wondrous land Where I'll build you a home in the meadow The stars, the stars, oh how bright they'll shine On a world the Lord himself designed The stars, the stars, oh how bright they'll shine On the home we will build in the meadow Come, come, there's a wondrous land For the hopeful heart and the willing hand Come, come, there's a wondrous land Where I'll build you a home in the meadow “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ on My Head” 6 Raindrops keep fallin’ on my head, And just like the guy whose feet are too big for his bed, nothing seems to fit. Those raindrops keep fallin’ on my head, they keep falling! So I just did me some talkin’ to the sun, And I said I didn't like the way he got things done, sleeping on the job. Those raindrops keep fallin’ on my head, They keep fallin’! But there's one thing I know, The blues they send to greet me won't defeat me. It won't be long till happiness steps up to greet me. Raindrops keep fallin’ on my head But that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turnin’ red, crying's not for me ‘cause I'm never gonna stop the rain by complainin’ Because I'm free, nothin's worryin’ me… "Over The Rainbow" 7 Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high There's a land that I've heard of once in a lullaby. Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue And the dreams that you dare to dream, Really do come true. Someday I'll wish upon a star And wake up where the clouds are far behind me. Where troubles melt like lemon drops, High above the chimney tops, That's where you'll find me. Somewhere over the rainbow, blue birds fly Birds fly over the rainbow Why then, oh why can't I? If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow Why, oh why can't I? “Beautiful Ohio” 8 Drifting with the current down a moonlit stream, While above the Heavens in their glory gleam, And the stars on high Twinkle in the sky, Seeming in a paradise of love divine, Dreaming of a pair of eyes that looked in mine. Beautiful Ohio, in dreams again I see Visions of what used to be. "America The Beautiful" 9 O, beautiful for spacious skies, For amber waves of grain, For purple mountain majesties Above the fruited plain! America! America! God shed his grace on thee And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea! O, beautiful for glory-tale Of liberating strife When once and twice, for man's avail Men lavished precious life! America! America! God shed his grace on thee Till selfish gain no longer stain The banner of the free! America, America, God shed his grace on thee And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea. And crown thy good with brotherhoodFrom sea to shining sea. "Oh My Darling Clementine” 10 Near a cavern, across from a canyon, excavating for a mine, Lived a miner, forty-niner and his daughter Clementine Oh my Darling, Oh my Darling, Oh my Darling Clementine. You are lost and gone forever, dreadful sorry, Clementine. Light she was and like a fairy, and her shoes were number nine Herring boxes without topses, sandals were for Clementine. Oh my Darling, Oh my Darling, Oh my Darling Clementine. You are lost and gone forever, dreadful sorry, Clementine. "I've Been Working On The Railroad" 11 I've been working on the railroad all the livelong day. I've been working on the railroad just to pass the time away. Can't you hear the whistle blowing, rise up so early in the morn. Can't you hear the whistle blowing, Dinah, blow your horn. Dinah, won't you blow, Dinah, won't you blow, Dinah, won't you blow your horn? Dinah, won't you blow, Dinah, won't you blow, Dinah, won't you blow your horn? Someone's in the kitchen with Dinah, someone's in the kitchen I know. Someone's in the kitchen with Dinah strumming on the old banjo. Fee fie fiddle eeii o, fee fie fiddle eeii o, Fee fie fiddle eeii o, Strumming on the old banjo. "She'll Be Comin' Round The Mountain" 12 She'll be coming round the mountain when she comes She'll be coming round the mountain when she comes Coming round the mountain, She'll be coming round the mountain, Coming round the mountain when she comes. She'll be driving six white horses when she comes She'll be driving six white horses when she comes She'll be driving six white horses, She'll be driving six white horses, Driving six white horses when she comes.

  • Full Results of Survey of Songs
Existential Songs Full results Supplementary material for Mick Cooper’s Existential psychotherapy and counselling: Contributions to a pluralistic practice (Sage, 2015), Appendix. One of the great strengths of existential philosophy is that it stretches far beyond psychotherapy and counselling; into art, literature and many other forms of popular culture. This means that there are many – including films, novels and songs that convey the key messages of existentialism. These may be useful for trainees of existential therapy, and also as recommendations for clients to deepen an understanding of this way of seeing the world. In order to identify the most helpful resources, an online survey was conducted in the summer of 2014 to identify the key existential films, books and novels. Invites were sent out via email to existential training institutes and societies, and through social media. Participants were invited to nominate up to three of each art media that ‘most strongly communicate the core messages of existentialism’. In total, 119 people took part in the survey (i.e., gave one or more response). Approximately half were female (n = 57) and half were male (n = 56), with one of other gender. The average age was 47 years old (range 26–89). The participants were primarily distributed across the UK (n = 37), continental Europe (n = 34), North America (n = 24), Australia (n = 15) and Asia (n = 6). Around 90% of the respondents were either qualified therapists (n = 78) or in training (n = 26). Of these, around two-thirds (n = 69) considered themselves existential therapists, and one third (n = 32) did not. There were 235 nominations for the key existential song, with enormous variation across the different respondents.

  • Mary Poppins Jr. Full Synopsis from Mtishows.Com
Mary Poppins Jr. Full Synopsis From mtishows.com Bert, a man of many trades, introduces the audience to the unhappy Banks family: father George, mother Winifred, and children Jane and Michael (Prologue). The family; the housekeeper, Mrs. Brill; and the houseboy, Robertson Ay, are shocked when Katie Nanna quits and storms out in frustration. George muses about what he expects from the household - the nanny, in particular ("Cherry Tree Lane - Part 1"). Though Jane and Michael insist upon their own requirements for their caregiver ("The Perfect Nanny"), George dismisses their requests ("Cherry Tree Lane - Part 2"). As if summoned, Mary Poppins appears, offering her services as a nanny. She fits the children's requirements exactly ("Practically Perfect / Practically Perfect - Playoff" ). She then takes the children to the park, where they meet Bert, who describes how wonderful everyday life can be when spending time with Mary ("Jolly Holiday"). At first, the children are not convinced, but when Mary Poppins brings to life a park statue named Neleus, Jane and Michael are in awe of her. The children return home and gush to their father about the nanny, but George is preoccupied ("Winds Do Change"). A few weeks later, the household is preparing for Winifred's party, and Jane and Michael make a mess of the house. Despite Mary's magic ("A Spoonful of Sugar"), the party is ruined when no one attends ("Spoonful - Playoff"). Later, Mary takes the children on a visit to George's workplace, the bank ("Precision and Order - Part 1"). While Clerks are bustling about and clients are trying to convince George to grant them loans, the children burst into the bank ("Precision and Order - Part 2").

  • “Tangled up in Blue” (Blood on the Tracks: Dylan 1975; Dylan 2004, 329-47) Is the Image of Medieval Material Made Suddenly Relevant in the Present Day
Bob Dylan’s Ballade At the heart of Bob Dylan’s 1975 song, “Tangled Up in Blue” (Blood on the Tracks: Dylan 1975; Dylan 2004, 329-47) is the image of medieval material made suddenly relevant in the present day. Among lyrics that wander widely throughout space and time, the action stops for a moment of transcendent timelessness: Then she opened up a book of poems and handed it to me Written by an Italian poet from the thirteenth century. And every one of them words rang true And glowed like burnin’ coal Pourin’ off of every page Like it was written in my soul from me to you Tangled up in Blue. (Dylan 2004, 332)1 This book of poems is not the only medievalist element of the song. In “Tangled Up in Blue,” Bob Dylan engages with medievalism in two ways: first, through his play with tropes of courtly- love literature, as popularly understood, including imagery and specific references to medieval literary tradition in the lyrics, and second, through his use of a particular medieval musical form, the ballade. The second type of medievalism in this song, involving the lyrical and musical structure, is less easily noticed than the inclusion of a 13th-century Italian book of poems in the lyrics. Dylan structures “Tangled Up in Blue” in a form used by some troubadours, later named “ballade” in the French poetry and music of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries (Johnson 1991). A number of pop musicians in the 1970s included medieval references in their songs, through imagery in the lyrics, modal tunes, and “early music” instrumental choices, but these choices are on display, used to establish a mood or medieval flavor for listeners (Sweers 2005; Upton 2012).
