YouTube (recommended – Free / or, pay for ‘YouTube-RED’ in same app [no ads]); https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/youtube-watch-listen-stream/id544007664?mt=8

Foxtel (pop pack $15 per month – optional, not tested*); https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/foxtel-now/id1222374381?mt=8

Stan (optional, not ‘recommended’**); https://itunes.apple.com/au/app/stan/id948095331?mt=8

(*:We have not yet tested as 95% of clients we have that want the ‘FOXTEL’ stations have the full Foxtel box and service – we are happy to support this service for clients that elect to use it. **: Stan seems to be a good service, however, we do not recommend it as an ‘essential’ as may get the content you need with other cheaper services &/or Foxtel – Stan seems to cost more than you would expect for the content on offer – if you look at just buying Westworld and GOT from Apple TV or , (~$30per season) vs the cost of Stan, you may be better off buying the ‘premium’ content ‘as required’ from Apple/Google – this is all down to your personal/family needs…)

NOTE: ‘Advanced commands’ (skip forward 30sec, pause, resume etc.) may only work in some apps that have ‘bi- directional communications’ programmed in to support all Google Home/Chromecast functions – the short list of apps that have this is:

YouTube

Netflix

Spotify

NOTE-2: The above links are for iPhone/iPad users on the Apple app store – if you are an Android user, you should find all of the above easily on the Google Play store (Email AV King for support if you have any issues).

GMAIL-NOTE: I (Millin Bear) feel that there is a strong argument to make and keep a new (separate) Gmail account/address for just your Google Home devices (for the family to all use).

I have several reasons for thinking that this is a good plan, happy to let you know more about this as part of the consulting services we offer here at AV King. I have things set-up this way at home, and I pay for a Spotify account for just this ‘one user’ – I find that this gives me and my family the maximum benefits of a ‘smart home’ solution like this. Things like the ‘memory items (detailed on next page)’ are then ‘data’ that the whole family can share (this works for my family, but you need to consider that any things you have linked to the main Gmail account can be accessed by any user/person in the home… - I.E. do not then use the ‘memory’ function to save your banking pin number for example… - but, I do use it to remember my Netflix log-in email and password…)

PAGE-5: More searches/questions/functions (memory and recall) that Google home can give useful assistance with…

NOTE: One of the reasons we (AV King) feel that Google home is the dominant platform for ‘home AI’ is the fact you can do things like the above [I.E. link the next question to the last ‘her music / she born / they close’ – as of 01/07/2018 few (if any) of the other home AI systems have this type of ‘added’ conversational functionality…]
