No doubt a war souvenir brought back by one of the SA troops who participated in the campaign. Kaiserliche Schutztruppen Gewehr 98 KS bandolier captured in 1914-1915 campaign in German Southwest. Includes frog and twelve magazine pouches. Good original condition. Scarce. A2 Swedish Mauser Bandolier R 450.00 Leather bandolier as used for the M96 & M38 Swedish Mauser carbine & rifles. Nine pouches. Good condition. A3 British Army Leather Shell /Tripod Carrier? R 2000.00 The carrier has two reinforced bands and measures 0,95m high and 0,19m in diameter. It has a leather handle and a metal liner in the top. Marked "No. 56 BH & G Ltd. 2-1945" with "N" marking to the side. Condition is good but for frayed edges to top cover. A4 Leather "Westley-Richards" Double Gun Case R 3000.00 Brass cornered hard leather double case with 3 x "Westley Richards" labels to the inside of the case. Case is of typical Westley-Richards construction and contains two sets of cleaning rods, nickelled cartridge extractor and various cleaning brushes. Designed to be used in ground defence or anti-aircraft roles, with the S.M.L..E rifle fitted for a 3rd leg in the ack- ack role. This was a feature that was not included in the Mk2 tripod. Good original condition. A38 .303 No.4 Deact. Service Rifle R 3750.00 Complete with a 10 shot magazine. As used by SA Forces in WW2 and later. A39 7.62mm Deact. FN-Fal/R1 Service Rifle R 8500.00 R1/FN rifle used by both SADF & Rhodesian forces from the early 1960's through to the mid 1980's. Still showing traces considerable of Rhodesian camo to it. S.A made example without any visible markings to it, which gave the S.A government a measure of "deniability" when accused of supporting Ian Smith's government. Good overall condition. A40 Deactivated .303 "Long Lee" Service Rifle R 2950.00 Boer war vintage rifle. Butt socket marked "Crown E.R. BSA Co. 1902 L.E. 1*" and UDF marking to receiver ring. A41 Deactivated M56 Yugoslav M56 SMG R 3950.00 Metal folding stock, 9,8" barrel, chambered for the 7,62mm Tokarev round. Magazine capacity of 35 rds. Rate of fire is 600rds. per minute. First taken into service in 1956. Good to good plus condition. Supplied to one of the Zimbabwean "liberation armies" as part of an "aid" package.     169 Lethal legacies: Illicit firearms and terrorism in France FRANCE Nicolas Florquin and André DesmaraisI This chapter analyses the illicit firearms market in France, the ways in which terror- ist networks have been able to access firearms, and the national policies that have been developed to combat (terrorist access to) the illicit gun market. Particularly since 2015, France has by far been the European country most affected by terrorist attacks involving the use of firearms. The use of fully automatic rifles in the January and November 2015 Paris attacks took an unprecedented human toll, with 147 deaths in those events alone.1 In 2015 the French authorities made 424 terrorism- related arrests, compared to 238 in 2014 and 225 in 2013.2 The recent attacks have created a push to reform the country’s intelligence and secu- rity forces in order to adapt to, anticipate and better respond to these threats.3 The gov- ernment has also identified a series of measures to tackle the issue of illicitly held fire- arms: the Ministry of the Interior’s National Action Plan was launched on 13 November 2015, just hours before the attack on the Bataclan theatre started.4 Yet these efforts can only rely on limited information on and analysis of the extent and nature of the illicit arms market in France, owing principally to the fact that levels of gun violence in France were previously moderate, if not low by international standards. This study constitutes an unprecedented effort to present and analyse data and information on illicit firearms and their acquisition by terrorist actors in France.
