Still showing traces considerable of Rhodesian camo to it. S.A made example without any visible markings to it, which gave the S.A government a measure of "deniability" when accused of supporting Ian Smith's government. Good overall condition. A44 Repro P-08 Luger Holster R 1250.00 A good quality repro holster marked "Kern Kloger & Cie. 1936". With provision for spare magazine & take-down tool. Excellent condition. A45 Sectioned/Skeletonised Nickel Marburg Scope R 2250.00 Nickel Marburg rifle scope which has been cut open to display the inner workings of the scope. Whether for sales display or for armourer's instruction purposes is uncertain. Very good condition. A46 PMP Bullet Board R 3500.00 Large (118 by 98 by 7cm) board with glass front. Shows the various calibers and bullet weights loaded by PMP, many sectionalised. A47 Brass Model "RAS" Canon R 2850.00 A brass model copy (67cm x27cm x18cm) of the "Martienie" (Ras) cannon built in 1880. Used against the British in 1881. On a varnished wood board. We have been informed that this is one of a limited number of cannon whose casting was commissioned by the Military affairs division of Pretoria University in 1980/81 to commemorate the centennial of the Ras/Martienie cannon. It is understood that certain of these cannon were gifted to senior SADF officers at the time. Excellent condition.

Gold proof mark to barrel. Full stock walnut stock with horn Schnabel tip to fore end. Wrap around fine chequering to grip which has silver escutcheon with crown and W surmounting it. Extended lower tang to guard. Circular steel grip cap. Stock displays a sideways crack just ahead of the lock, otherwise good original condition. B2 Muzzle-Loading Pistols x 3 R 1650.00 1. Big bore flintlock horse pistol with brass front band, trigger-guard and butt cap. Plain lock plate. No markings to pistol. Cock does not lock back when retracted and would need some attention. 2. Middle-Eastern flintlock pistol designed for the tourist trade. Crudely finished. 3. Percussion pistol with hammer missing. Fair condition. B3 12ga Buchanan S/S Percussion R 7500.00 The 30"(76cm) tubes shows some pitting and other rusting. The Damascus patterning is barely visible. Both locks are working. A replacement ramrod is present. The stock of good colour with good contrast and figure. The large chequering has been recut. B4 Percussion Trade Musket R 1250.00 Piece is strictly a wall-hanger in it's present form. Tang is broken off the breech area, and muzzle has eroded back beyond the stock. Stock has been decorated with shell bases, brass and aluminium circles. B5 .40cal/16ga John Hayton Cape Gun R 9500.00 Short barrelled gun with Damascus barrels of 490mm, no doubt designed for use on horseback. Gun has an interesting adjustable fore sight as well as a tangent type rear sight. Top-rib is marked "John Hayton Grahams Town 8806". Plain bar locks are marked "J Hayton". Large patch box to butt which still has considerable traces of case-hardening to it. Extended tang and chequering to straight wrist. Steel butt plate with extended tang to it as well. "H.R" marking above patch box. Gun is built on very similar lines to the Patt. 1853 double barrelled carbine issued to the Cape Mounted Rifles unit. Gun would appear to have seen very little use and finish has an brown aged finish to them whilst the rest of the metalwork still shows fair traces of original bright blue. Crisp markings, clean lines to stock, good plus original condition.

B6 13ga Chas Fisher S/S Percussion Shotgun - Cased R 50000.00 Brass bound mahogany case with faded "Charles Fisher" label to lid. Re- browned 28,5" heavy walled barrels for ball use to straight hand walnut stock with bar action locks. Locks marked "Chas. Fisher London", Extensive engraving to locks, hammer & tang. Accessories include leather bound Dixon powder flask with silver mounts graduated from 21/4 to 3 drams, a tin of Joyce F4 No. 25 percussion caps, a brass oil bottle & ebony handled nipple wrench. Fully engraved back-action sidelocks, German silver trigger guard with game scene engraving, engraved German silver butt plate and fore end tip. Cased accessories include original Hawksley oil bottle, tin of percussion caps by Joyce, leather Hawksley shot flask with settings for 1, 11/8 & 11/4 oz with silver escutcheon to leather body. Leather bound Hawksley powder flask with silver mounts graduated for 21/4 to 3 Drams, also with silver escutcheon to leather body. Spring vice for dismantling locks, ivory container with screw-off lid and wooden handled, brass powder & shot measures/scoops by Hawksley. Clean bores, gun & accessories all in particularly good condition. It is very seldom that a gun of this quality & condition comes onto the market, complete with all accessories. B8 Brown Bess New Land Pattern Flintlock Musket R 11000.00 Full stock to 38" barrel. Crown cypher and+ "Tower" markings to lock. Military acceptance stamps & "12" to barrel. A groove has been filed for a foresight which is now missing. Cheek piece to butt which has brass nose cap, pipes, trigger guard and butt plate. British new land pattern Sergeants Carbine of 1832. With the advent of the percussion action these carbines saw little service and may have been consigned to the colonies. (See British Military Longarms by D W Bailey, page 113) Good to good plus condition. B9 10ga. Flintlock Musket R 8500.00 Octagonal to round 37" barrel with unusual ring type bayonet fitting to muzzle. European styled lock, Full-stock with brass pipes, trigger guard, side plate and butylate, the back of which is missing. Swedish 1747 military flintlock musket, their principal weapon during the seven years war, 1756 to 1763, which involved most European states. The lugs at the muzzle appear to be for a grenade launcher but no detail was found. Fair to good overall condition.

B10 .451cal Ardesa Hawken Match Repro Rifle R 5500.00 Percussion, mid-range target rifle with 1-20" twist enabling it stabilise the long 500gr. conical bullet. Octagonal barrel of 32", weight of rifle is 9,5 lbs. Trigger guard has a long decorative tail which gives the rifle a pistol grip feel. Rifle is equipped with Pedersoli folding peep target rear sight and tunnel foresight as well as a target sling. Good overall condition. Gilt, half-basket guard with raised bars and fouled anchor badge. Folding flap on inside serves to attach scabbard. Lions head pommel. White fish skin grip bound by gilt wire. "Wilkinson" sword details to ricasso. A sword knot (some fraying and loss of gold thread - now stabilised) and a leather scabbard. Complete with its black leather belt with brass fouled anchor on the buckle, frog and hangers. Extremely good condition.

C26 SADF Naval Officers Sword R 7500.00 A South African naval sword made by "GMS Solingen", Germany incorporating the fouled anchor and the pre-1994 S A Coat of Arms on the etched blade. Gilt, solid half basket guard with raised bars and fouled anchor badge. Folding flap on inside serves to attach scabbard. White grips bound by copper wire. Two hangers and gilt shoe to leather scabbard. Complete with gilt sword knot. Blade in excellent condition, edges of guard and hangers show some loss of finish, excellent scabbard.

Wire bound shagreen grips. Used by the police during the independence ceremony when Northern Rhodesia became Zambia. Complete with leather scabbard, frog and chamois lined rain guard. "As new" condition.

C28 Victoria Rifles Sword R 4500.00 Victorian British Army sword with the originals owners name ("Captain A J Green") and army unit ("Victoria Rifles") incorporated into the etched blade together with the Victorian Coat of Arms. Victoria's monogram incorporated into the brass guard. Made by "Hobson & Sons of London". Brass handguard and hilt, Shagreen binding and wire binding to grip. Complete with metal scabbard which has lost a good % of it's nickel plated finish. Some loss of sharpness to etching on blade. C29 UDF Patt. 1912 Cavalry Officers Sword R 6500.00 Sword dates Pre-1924 as S.A. Coat of Arms to 35" blade is marked "South Africa /Zuid Afrika" rather than Afrikaans "Suid Afrika". Excellent bore. Good plus original condition. D32 9mm Webley Mod 1922 Pistol R 12500.00 Blued, 5" barrel, black chequered hard rubber grips with lanyard ring. Serial number 147445 identifies this pistol as one of the 1000 pistols ordered by the South African UDF in 1925 at a cost of 72 shilling and threepence and this price included a cleaning rod and spare magazine. There was a total of 1893 models of this pistol manufactured of which the Ministry of War in Latvia purchased 100 and the rest were sold commercially. The pistol appears to have been refinished at some stage although markings are all still crisp and there are some light pit marks under the finish of the top of the slide. Good overall.

The stock of plain straight-grained walnut with a single reinforcing recoil cross bolt under the breech, polished steel butt plate. The ramrod and bayonet fitting are also bright polished. Date of manufacture 1898. Gun in 'as New' condition and could well be unfired. These are nicely let into the stock. Good scroll engraving to almost all the action, tangs and trigger guard. Action flats also show heat treatment. The 30" (76.2cm) tubes are of Damascus steel and barrel flats show black powder proof marks. The bores are excellent and the right barrel is cylinder, the left full choked. Stock and forearm are of good dark barred walnut with chequering to 24LPI. The LOP to the front trigger is 14 1/2"(36.8cm), gun weight is 3.15kg (6.9lbs). A lovely example of the genre.. The following Terms and Conditions as amended by any postal notice or verbal announcement during the sale, constitutes the entire terms and conditions under which the property listed in this catalogue, is offered for sale by Classic Arms and any consignor for the said property that we act for.

1) As used herein, the “bid price” shall mean the price at which a lot is knocked down by the auctioneer, to a purchaser and the term “purchase price” shall mean the aggregate of: a) The bid price, b) A PREMIUM PAYABLE BY THE PURCHASER OF 12,5% OF THE BID PRICE, + VAT at 15% thereon (i.e. a total premium of 14.375%) c) And where specifically stated by the auctioneer VAT at 15% of the bid price. It is recorded that the consignor has authorised Classic Arms to retain the premium payable on each lot as part of our remuneration and that the VAT payable on such premium is in addition to such premium.

2. On the fall of the Hammer the highest bidder will have been deemed to have purchased the lot being offered and to have: a) assumed full responsibility and liability for the ownership of that lot in accordance with the terms and conditions contained herein b) to undertake to settle the aggregate purchase price within a maximum of seven calendar days from the date of sale.

In the case of all firearms it is specifically recorded that the purchaser is deemed to have assumed full liability for ownership and payment in accordance with the terms and conditions contained herein irrespective of the granting or not of a South African Police Services licence or permit for possession of the said lot. All lots requiring licences shall be retained by Classic Arms pending proof of issuance of said licences

Catalogue Auction 69 2020.08.17 16H35 Should a licence for any lot, for any reason whatsoever, be declined, then the purchaser may require Classic Arms or a registered arms and ammunition dealer of the purchasers choice to resell such lot on the purchasers behalf. Such sale shall be conducted against the prevailing terms and conditions of the chosen dealer at time of resale and, irrespective of the Auction purchase price, at the price determined in agreement with the auction purchaser and the dealer It is specifically noted that Classic Arms may in no way be held liable for a shortfall if any, between the auction purchase price and the resale price. Under no circumstances shall any lot requiring SAPS licensing be released to any person or body not duly authorised to be in legal possession of said lot, and unless all monies due have been settled in full and in accordance with the terms and conditions contained herein. No lots shall be deemed to have been paid for until all monies due have been delivered in cash or in Bank Cleared funds.

All purchases may be paid for in cash, by Master Card or VISA, American Express or Diners Club International, or by cashiers. or Bank Guaranteed Cheque. A further premium of 5% of the aggregate purchase price including VAT thereon will be levied for all Credit or Charge Card settlements.

No cashier’s cheque will be deemed to constitute payment until the effects thereof have been cleared into the Classic Arms Trust Account. If the foregoing or any other conditions contained herein are not complied with by the purchaser, in addition to any other remedies available to us and the consignor by law, including but without limitation to, the right to hold the purchaser liable for the purchase price, then we at our sole discretion may: a) cancel the sale, retaining as liquidation costs any amounts paid by the purchaser, b) resell the property.

3. All payments to be made within 7 days. Property sold at auction and not paid for in full or collected, within 6 (Six) elapsed Months from the date of the auction, shall be deemed to be abandoned UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTIFIED. The auctioneer reserves the right to dispose of the property in any manner he sees fit and recover reasonable administration and/or storage costs from the disposal of said property and/or the purchaser.

No subsequent claim arising from such a disposal shall be entertained and the auctioneer may not be held liable for any losses incurred by either the consignor or purchaser, or any other party, in this regard either publicly or privately and in such event to hold the purchaser liable for all costs including our commission and expenses for both sales, all other charges due hereunder, our attorneys fees and incidental charges.

All fees commissions, bid prices and duties not settled promptly by the purchaser in terms of this clause 2 shall bear interest at South African Bankers prime lending rate plus 3 percent from the seventh day following the sale until settlement is received in full. In the event that a purchaser does not effect collection within four months of the sale date, of any item purchased, Classic Arms reserves the right to charge a storage fee of ZAR 150-00 per calendar month or part thereof. Such fee being payable monthly in advance from the first day of the month within which the six month period shall expire. In the event that the purchaser fails in his obligation to Classic Arms to pay such fee, Classic Arms, may at its own discretion, resell such item to recover such fee.

4. We reserve the right to withdraw any property at any time prior to the actual sale of such property. Unless actually stated by the auctioneer, all lots shall be offered against their catalogued number and no lot shall be divided for sale.

5. We reserve the right to reject any bid. The highest bid acknowledged by the auctioneer shall be deemed to be the final bid price. In the event of any dispute between bidders or, if in the sole opinion of the auctioneer he doubts the validity of a bid, the auctioneer shall have the sole right to determine the successful bid or to re-offer the property in dispute for sale. Our sale records shall be conclusive in any dispute during or after conclusion of the sale.

6. If for any reason beyond our control, including but not limited to, fire, theft, acts of God, or insurrection, we are prevented from delivering the property to the purchaser, then we will be liable only for the sum actually paid therefore by the purchaser and shall in no event include payment for consequential or incidental damages.

7. If a lot is offered subject to a reserve (this being the confidential minimum price required by the consignor) then Classic Arms reserves the right to open the bidding or to bid on the consignor’s behalf in order to protect such reserve.
