Friends of Groenkloof Nature Reserve Friends of Groenkloof Nature Reserve PO Box 12789, Hatfield, Pretoria, 0028 Tel: 012 460 1568 Fax: 012 427 8435 [email protected] (secretary) www.naturefriends.org.za/groenkloof 17 May 2006 Dear resident Klapperkop game fencing and gatehouse project November – newsletter 3 You might recall newspaper articles in the past few months and the letters sent out in March 2006 and December 2005 regarding the imminent plans to fence off and develop the Klapperkop Nature Reserve. We asked for donations from Waterkloof 101, Radcliffe, Herbert Baker street, and other residents in Groenkloof and Waterkloof Ridge. We have received a very positive response but still require more contributions and commitment from everyone, in order to make this very important project a reality. On 17 May: R620 000 contributions received, R800 000 required, thus R180 000 still short. The City Council has started in March with their promised contribution: 2,5 km game fencing on George Storror Rd and the R21/ Nelson Mandela Drive. Most of this has now been completed and they will soon start with the last portion of their section of the game fence. See photos. Please read the attached resume letter and brochure which gives you all the details you require for your contribution to convert Klapperkop from its current state to a Nature Reserve and create an asset which will benefit us, our community and the City. We thank you in anticipation of your positive response. Sincerely Friends of Groenkloof Nature Reserve Organisers of the Klapperkop project _________________________________________________________________________________ Steering Committee 2005-2006: Dr Clive Napier (Chairman), Robrecht Tryhou (Secretary), Riaan Eksteen (Treasurer), Charlie Verster, Mark Ashfield, Neil Fourie, DeWet Louw, Sarel Ackerman, Dr Zeno Apostolides and various subcommittees. Affiliated with The SA Wildlife Society (Wessa). NPO 000-716. Registered with SARS as a public benefit organisation. Memorandum of Understanding with the City Council of Tshwane signed October 2002 .
