36th ANNUAL UIAAA STATE CONFERENCE CONFERENCE BANQUET UTAH INTERSCHOLASTIC ATHLETIC ADMINISTRATORS ASSOCIATION APRIL 15, 2016 ABBEY INN AND CONVENTION CENTER • ST. GEORGE, UTAH WELCOME Athletic Administrators and Guests Greetings and welcome to the 36th annual UIAAA Conference. Your com- mitment to be in attendance says a lot about your passion to your profes- sion and your student athletes at your school. We hope your participation sends you back with an enthusiasm noticeable to those you work with. The UIAAA is proud to welcome also the UHSSA staff and members. We have a great working relationship with the state office that makes our organization and theirs work well. We love their support and will continue to strive together to make high school activities and athletics the very best. The UIAAA is also grateful to the many sponsors who support us financially and emotionally. Our working partnership with them is a huge part of what drives this organization. Please make sure you stop by and visit them during their time here. We also look forward to hearing from former University of Utah and Weber State Coach Ron McBride this year. Coach Mac is an icon who loves the state of Utah and we feel so fortunate to have him with us in St. George. I guarantee you his message to us will be one you won’t forget. I am also happy to announce for those of you who haven’t heard, Richard Barton from Richfield High School has been elected as the President-elect of the NIAAA. This is probably one of the most significant things to ever happen to our state and organization. Richard is well deserving of this honor and will do a tremendous job. We have also had many others receive awards at the National Conference in the past several years that we are very proud of. At the most recent conference in Orlando, the late Bud Campbell was enshrined in the NIAAA Hall of Fame and Ted Petersen received the NIAAA Citation. Utah is looked at as a leader on the national level. Again we are excited to have you here. We hope this is the best conference ever. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to serve you. Sincerely, David Boyack, CAA UIAAA President Athletic Director Maple Mountain High School BANQUET PROGRAM INVOCATION OPENING GENERAL SESSION 5:15 – 6:15 p.m. Presiding: Ted Petersen, CAA, Past President, UIAAA Welcome: David Boyack, CAA, President, UIAAA Introduction of UIAAA President-Elect Candidates NIAAA Certificates (15-20-25-30-35 year awards) NIAAA State Award of Merit: Jamie Sheetz, CAA, Athletic Director, Park City HS, Park City, Utah Presented by Richard Barton, CMAA, NIAAA President-Elect NFHS Citation Recipient: Ted Petersen, CAA, AD, Weber HS, Pleasant View, Utah NIAAA Hall of Fame Inductee: Bud Campbell, CAA, Deceased, Murray, Utah UIAAA Hall of Fame Induction: John Dowell, Retired, St. George, Utah UIAAA Scholarship Winners: Hailey Barker, Copper Hills High School Nathan Becket, Grantsville High School Sydney Jacobs, Orem High School Andrew Lisk, Jordan High School Savanna Williams, Roy High School Speaker Ron McBride, Legendary Football Coach, Salt Lake City, Utah DINNER 6:15 - 6:45 p.m. Cover photo courtesy of Ryan Greene Ron McBride Legendary football coach, Ron He took the Utes to six bowl McBride has been coaching games during his tenure, a players on and off the field for noteworthy feat considering the over fifty years.
