GRANDE PRAIRIE MINOR HOCKEY 6 Knowledge Way, Grande Prairie, AB T8W 2V9 780-539-6177, ext 1 [email protected] www.gphockey.com Press Release April 27, 2020 Brett Stephenson named Technical Director for Grande Prairie Minor Hockey GPMHA is pleased to announce the hiring of Brett Stephenson as their new Technical Director. Brett brings a wealth of hockey knowledge and experience and will be a huge asset for our players and organization. The position will start May 15, 2020. Brett Stephenson Bio: I was born and raised in Edmonton, AB. My minor hockey was played in Edmonton. I played in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) with the Fort Saskatchewan Traders for two years, then one year in the SJHL with the Minot Americans. Then off to play for the Red Deer College Kings of the ACAC for three years taking Education. I moved to Grande Prairie to take a position as an Assistant Coach and Director of Scouting for the Grande Prairie Junior A Storm in 1997. There were many opportunities for me to network and be involved with several organizations throughout the Peace Country. In 2000 I moved to Bonnyville, AB for the exciting opportunity to be the Head Coach and General Manager of the Bonnyville Pontiacs in the AJHL. My roles and responsibilities included management of office staff, operating within a budget, networking with many scouts, and day to day operations of the hockey team. I became entrenched in the community. We moved back to Grande Prairie for family reasons in 2006 as I returned to my passion as an Assistant Coach for the Grande Peace Ernie’s Sports Experts Major Midget AAA Storm for one season with Peter MacLellan. -
The Story Coming in the Medicine Hat Tigers Finished the First Half of the Season with a 17-15-1-2 Record
The Story Coming In The Medicine Hat Tigers finished the first half of the season with a 17-15-1-2 record. After a slow start to the season, the Orange and Black finished strong posting a 7-3-0-0 record in their last 10 games before the Christmas break. The Tigers continue their scoring by committee approach with every skater on the team lighting the lamp to score the team’s 110 goals. Leading the way for the Tabbies are veteran forwards James Hamblin with 38 points (17G, 21A) and Ryan Jevne with 34 points (16G, 18A). Tigers vs. ICE The Tigers and the ICE have met twice so far this season. The ICE took the first game 5-0 while the Tigers won the second game 4-3 in a shootout. Ryan Jevne scored the game-winning goal in the shootout and goaltender Jordan Hollett stopped 32 of 35 shots. Over the past five seasons, Medicine Hat has a 19-3-1-0 record against Kootenay and they will be looking to improve that record tonight. View from Kootenay The Kootenay ICE finished the first half of the season with an 8-25-5-1 record and they were 1-7-2-0 in their last 10 games before the holiday break. The ICE are led by 2019 NHL Draft Eligible Peyton Krebs with 38 points (13G, 25A) and veteran forward Jaeger White with 25 points (13G, 12A). After tonight’s contest, the ICE will return home to host the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Tigers Talent Josh Williams had his first WHL three-point game Friday, December 14th against the Red Deer Rebels.
