This study of one year long was launched to find out major anthropogenic impacts to wetland/reserve. Field visit, direct observation, questionnaire and interview methods were applied. 60% houses' roof, 76% walls were made by Kans. 89% people belong to agriculture, 98% people of the settlements go to the wetland for some purposes - 90% for fire wood, 89% for grass and fodder, Niguro picking 43%, fishing 48.1%, Kans collection 97.83%, for farming 17%, Typha harvesting 55.83%, mud collection 62.67% and shoot collection 33.5%. Each household had kept 5.2 number of cows and 5.1 buffaloes 84% of which let free in the wetland. The main source of energy was firewood, 87%. For the livelihood 98% of local people depended on the wetland. Only 3.11% fisherman used hooks. The farmer used maximum amount of inorganic fertilizers and pesticides. 412 picnic groups /yr arrived. 89% of events of wildlife people conflict were from the side of human. 71% of the owners of domestic buffalo had purposed to the made cross with the wild water buffaloes to improve meat quality in the breed. -

Draft EIA Report of the Sunsari River Irrigation Project Existing Environmental Conditions CHAPTER EXISTING ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS 3. EXISTING ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS This chapter documents existing environmental conditions, particularly in the areas of physical, biological, socio-economic and cultural resources in relation to the Project activities. 3.1. Physical Environment 3.1.1. Topography and Climate The Sunsari River Irrigation Project (SRIP) area is located in the south-western part of the Sunsari District located between 26°24′N to 26°30′N in latitude and 87°04′E to 87°12′E in longitude. The elevation ranges from 64 meters to 80 meters above the mean sea level. The study area is rectangular in shape with E-W width varying from 4 to 8 kilometres and N-S length of about 22 kilometres. The western and southern part of the project area is bordered with India. The Project area is located at the eastern bank of the Sapta Koshi River. The terrain starts from foothills of the Siwalik range and slopes gently down to south with an inclination of 5 degrees on an average and is formed by alluvium of old and present rivers. The Project area is dominated by sandy soils having low to moderate water holding capacity. The climate in the project area is sub-tropical. Temperatures are high between March and October, the hottest month being the April, during which the mean daily maximum temperature is about 340C. During the cool period from November to February, mean monthly temperatures are in the range of 16 to 220C. The annual average rainfall between 1970 and 1993 was 1,867mm, raining intensively in the monsoon period, from late May to September. -

At present, high dam issue is being the great issue especially raising by the inhabitants of upstream in Koshi basin. Therefore, this research paper attempts to examine the bio-physical consequences due to high dam in the upstream of Arun river basin. Geographic Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS) technology have been used for the spatial analysis to prepare this paper. Spatial data have been taken from topographical map and Digital Elevation Model (DEM) and the attribute data have taken from Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Kathmandu. It revealed that approximately 11777 hectors arable plain land will be inundated in Arun river basin only by water with river deposits due to high dam if the high dam will be built at the proposed place and proposed dam height. The proposed place lies 1.6 km upstream from Barahakshetra temple of Sunsari district and the dam height will 269 meters. -

I believe that this document will be helpful in backstopping to Rural Transport Infrastructure Sector Wide Approach (RTI SWAp) through sustainable planning, resources mobilization, implementation and monitoring of the rural road sub-sector development. The document is anticipated to generate substantial employment opportunities for rural people through increased and reliable accessibility in on- farm and off-farm livelihood diversification, commercialization and industrialization of agriculture sector. In this context, rural road sector will play a fundamental role to strengthen and promote overall economic growth of this district through established and improved year round transport services reinforcing intra and inter-district linkages . Therefore, it is most crucial in executing rural road networks in a planned way as per the District Transport Master Plan (DTMP) by considering the framework of available resources in DDC comprising both internal and external sources. Viewing these aspects, DDC Morang has prepared the DTMP by focusing most of the available resources into upgrading and maintenance of the existing road networks. Brief Analysis of Preliminary Results 1. Total number of establishments was 922,445 in Nepal. (Refer to Table 1 and Map 1.) The preliminary results of the National Economic Census 2018 (NEC2018) provide the current situation of establishments in Nepal in the recovery process after the huge earthquakes which occurred in April and May 2015. The figures were aggregated from the enumerator’s control forms (summary sheets) which were filled in by enumerators and checked by supervisors. Therefore, the preliminary results might slightly be different from the final results which are based on Form B and will be released around June 2019. There were 922,445 establishments in Nepal as of 14 April 2018 as the preliminary results of the NEC2018 implemented by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS). The NEC2018 covered all areas in the country without exception and all establishments excluding the following establishments: non-registered establishments which belong to “Agriculture, forestry, and fishery” (Section A) of International Standard Industrial Classification (ISIC) Rev. 4; and all those establishments which belong to “Public administration and defense; compulsory social security” (Section O), “Activities of household as employers” (Section T), and “Activities of extraterritorial organizations and bodies” (Section U) of ISIC. In addition, Mobile establishments were also excluded. These exclusions are in accordance with international common practices in economic censuses. (Refer to Outline and Appendix 2.) Nepal has 922,445 establishments and the number of establishments per 1,000 persons is 31.6 establishments. As compared with other countries, Japan has 5.8 millions and 45.4; Indonesia 26.7 millions and 104.6; Sri Lanka 1.0 million and 50.3; and Cambodia 0.5 million and 34.6; respectively. -
