In the old town you can see the Gediminas Castle. Today, tourists can explore the west tower, the remains of the ramparts and the castle itself. Near the castle is the Cathedral Square, where you can see the hero of Vilnius - Grand Duke Gediminas. Special attention deserves Vilnius University, one of the oldest in Eastern Europe. Among the famous alumni of the University should be called the Polish poets Adam Mickiewicz and Juliusz Slovacki, Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko, Czeslaw Milosz - Nobel Laureate in Literature and many others. The largest courtyard of University due to the mixing of architectural styles and numerous arches give the impression that you are in the south of Italy. It should be noted that, perhaps, no other city in Eastern Europe there are so many churches and cathedrals as in Vilnius. Visit 10 EUR Optional: Rundale Palace sightseeing tour (2 hours) Located at a distance of 76 km from Riga, Rundale Palace is a pearl of Baroque architecture in Latvia, standing proud in its original splendour in a fertile plain surrounded by forests. It is Latvia's version of Versailles and Sans Soucis. Today this place is subtly restored, and it is hard to believe that the Germans used the palace as a granary in World War II. Now the 138 rooms are open to visitors in all their splendour and it is the most significant masterpiece of Baroque architecture in the Baltic States. A French park also designed by F.B.Rastrelli lies in the southern part of the palace territory. It is newly made according to the original design of the 18th century. For this purpose, the city authority signed a deal with the government to buy the Zeppelin hangars abandoned by the German Kaiser's army in the western Latvian region of Kurzeme (near Vaiņode). So Zeppelin hangars become a landmark of Riga for both Rigans and the city's foreign guests. It was envisaged to build a total of five pavilions, the biggest of which (5000m2) was intended for wholesale trade and dressing of meat, but the four smaller ones (2592 m2 each) - for retail trade.

Our particular aim is to reveal methodological changes of ethnographic reproduction and to contextualise the museum’s current efforts in ideologically positioning of the permanent exhibition. Through historical–herme- neutical analysis we plan to establish particular museological trends at the Esto- nian National Museum that have led curators to the current ideological position. The history of the Finno-Ugric displays at the Estonian National Museum and comparative analysis of international museological practices enable us to reveal and interpret different approaches to ethnographic reconstructions. When exhib- iting indigenous cultures, one needs to balance ethnographic charisma with the ethics of display. In order to employ the approach of ethical attraction, curators must comprehend indigenous cultural logic while building up ethnographic rep- resentations. Vanadest aegadest on Palmse mõisasüdame lähedal asunud Ojaäärse metsades säilinud pärandkultuuri objekte – esivanemate elust ja tegemis- test jutustavaid märke maastikul nagu piiri- ehk ristikivid, tõrvaahi, vanade sildade kohad, põlised teed, verstakivid teede ääres ja vanad kohanimed. Oja- äärse metsaraja infotahvlid tutvustavad paljusid neist. Ojaäärse metsarada algab ja lõpeb RMK Ojaäärse loodusmaja juures, ~300 m Palmse-Sagadi teeristist Sagadi poole näitab viit paremale, loodus- maja õue. 3,5 km km pikkune looduse õpperada teeb ringi Kuresoo oja (Võsu jõgi) ja Pikapõllu oja vahelistes metsades. Metsarada on tähistatud viitade- ga ja punaste värvitäppidega puudel. Rajal on 14 huvipunkti, kus infotahvlid Ojaäärse matkarajad annavad ülevaate siinsete metsade loodusest ja ajaloost. Ojaäärse matkarada on Ojaäärse metsaraja pikenduseks, lisanduvad hu- vipunktid 15 ja 16.

The established conodont zones in the Cambrian-Ordovician boundary beds in northern Estonia serve as a basis for the interpretation of the succession of changes in the facies cohditions of sedimentation. The facies maps compiled by time interval!? correspond to the Westergaardodina, Cordylodus andresi, C. proavus, C. lindstromi, and C. rotundatus-C. angulatus conodont zones. Phosphorite accumulation was the most intensive during the C. proavus time. The rugged topography of the underlying Lower Cambrian Tiskre and Vaki formations on the territory of the Rakvere phosphorite region was of great significance in the phosphorite accumulation. At the initial stages of phosphorite accumulation three bottom swells (islands) existed there. The most intensive piling up of phosphorite was related to these swells.
