Most recently assisted Des Moines School District in New Mexico on a successful grant for $500,000 to construct a new school-based health care center on its campus – expected completion date of July 2013. Service: Participated in various university and school committees, task forces, AIA awards juries at the regional level, boards of non-profit organizations, ACSA conferences as moderator, panelist, topic chair, and paper referee, and have been an invited lecturer and juror to various architecture programs including. Recognition: Recipient of design awards while principal in the firm of Morris Gutierrez Architects, Houston, Texas 1992-2002, ACSA/AIAS New Faculty Teaching Award in1996, AIA Houston Educator Award and Tau Sigma Delta Silver Medal for teaching excellence, nominated to serve on the Texas Historical Commission’s State Board of Review from 1994 to 1998, invited juror for the IHP international student design competition held in Sweden, elected Secretary of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture, and a UNM Regents Lecturer recipient for 2012 to 2015. Additionally, students under my direction have received recognition for their design work locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally through competitions and exhibitions. .
