RAILWAY OFFICE, on the Main Avenue. CATALOGUES, on the left of the Main Avenue. AWARDS. The number of winners in each section will be posted up on the Awards Boards on the left of the Main Avenue. LADIES' ROOMS will be found off the left-hand side of the Main Avenue, also HECiEflY near the Dog Section, and behind the Grand Stand. GENTS' TOILETS will be found behind the Awards Hut, near Collecting Ring, PETROLEUM and at Green Walk near Heavy Horses. AMBULANCE. Members of St. John Ambulance Brigade will be in attendance PRODUCT at their Stand. WATER is laid on to the Showfield in several places. CATERING. Messrs. Roy Cafe Ltd., Wigan, are the Caterers, and the Com- mittee are assured that all the provisions will be of the finest quality, according to prevailing conditions. BARS. At the Regent stand you are assured of a warm welcome— so come along and hear how these fine products can help you on your farm RAILWAYS STATIONS They will save you money FOR THE GUIDANCE OF VISITORS TO THE SHOW Passengers for Northwich, Chester and Crewe (via Northwich) should leave the REGENT OIL COMPANY LTD ground by Green Walk Entrance to join the train at Hale Station. Passengers for Warrington and Liverpool should leave the ground by Devisdale Entrance to join the train at Broadheath Station or West Timperley Station. ST AMD No. 67 (Buses from the Altrincham Bus Terminus pass both these Stations). Passengers for Manchester and District, and points beyond, should leave the ground by Devisdale Entrance for Altrincham Station.     POULTRY, PIGEON & EGGS Competition Schedule 30 August - 8 September 2019 | theshow.com.au 2019 POULTRY, PIGEONS AND EGGS IMPORTANT INFORMATION ARRIVAL/DELIVERY, JUDGING AND DEPARTURE TIMES Poultry and Pigeons ARRIVAL - Exhibits must be penned between 10.00 am and 9.00 pm on Thursday 29 August. Exhibitors delivering exhibits may enter and exit via the Leader Street entrance. The Poultry & Pigeon Pavilion is situated on the first floor of the Stirling/Angas Hall, west of the Hamilton Boulevard and you will be required to bring your vehicle via the western ramp entry. The exhibits must be accompanied by computer printout entry details. No exhibits will be permitted inside the pavilion other than those which have been entered for competition. JUDGING - will commence at 8.00 am on Friday 30 August. The Society reserves the right to re-allocate breeds to judges after closing date depending on entry numbers. DEPARTURE - Between 6.00 pm and 10.00 pm Sunday 8 September (boxing from 5.00 pm) or Between 6.00 am and 10.30 am Monday 9 September When collecting exhibits, you must produce your Entry Details Return (computer pen number print out) and be accompanied by an official who will assist in checking out each exhibit. Sunday 8 September Departure Birds may be boxed from 5.00 pm. Departure on foot - Exhibitors will be permitted to leave on foot with their birds between 6pm and 8:30pm only. Vehicle collection – Exhibitors with many birds may bring a single vehicle onsite via the Leader Street gate to assist with collection between 8:30pm and 10pm only.

    Museum of English Rural Life David Scrivener Collection D DS David Scrivener (1952 – 2015) was a committed and enthusiastic poultry- keeper. He earned a National Diploma in Poultry from Harper Adams Agricultural College in Shropshire. He utilised his expertise as a judge at various shows for the Poultry Club of Great Britain. David had a passion for rare breeds, particularly the Spanish, which he kept, and fulfilled various roles for the Rare Poultry Society, variously acting as Chairman, Honorary Historian and Patron. He was the author of several books on the subject including Starting with Bantams (2002), Exhibition Poultry Keeping (2005), Rare Poultry Breeds (2006) and Popular Poultry Breeds (2009). The Collection covers the year’s 1893 to 2007; undated. The physical extent of the collection is 17 boxes, 13 oversize items. D DS 1 Slides c. 1980 to 2015 Contains slides of various poultry species arranged by species and breed. Much of the information used here was obtained from Scrivener’s own annotations for each slide. Many of these photographs are studio portraits, used to illustrate Scrivener’s publications. A large proportion of the photographs were taken by John Tarren.
