TRANE and Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Join Hands to Reduce Global Warming 特靈與曼谷大都會管理局攜手減少全球暖化

Khun Surichai Patarakitnirun, Managing Director of TRANE Thailand, a leader in energy-efficient indoor comfort systems and facility solutions, and Khun Apirak Kosayothin, the Governor of Bangkok, presided over a press conference to announce an important environmental initiative. The press conference, held on 3 September 2007 at the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, promoted the use of cloth bags instead of plastic bags to help combat global warming. During the announcement, TRANE also introduced the innovative and energy efficient air conditioning solutions that reduce energy consumption, operating cost and gas emissions without compromising comfort or productivity.

On 27-29 June 2007, JEC Philippines took part in the Semiconductor and JEC Philippines Participates in Semi- Electronics Industry of the Philippines (SEIPI) tradeshow at the Sofitel Hotel, conductor and Electronics Industry of Manila. The exhibition promoted the semiconductor companies and products the Philippines (SEIPI) Tradeshow in the Philippines that generate over 66% of the Philippines’ exports. Oktoberfest comes to JEC Manila 馬尼拉怡和機器慶祝「德國啤酒節」 On 19th October, JEC Philippines invited its major and potential clients alike to the Oktoberfest 2007 celebration at NBC Tent, Fort Bonifacio Manila.

The Oktoberfest event has been running for over 30 years and provides an evening of live music, Bavarian specialties and beer staged by the German Club Manila and the Mandarin Oriental Manila. Guests included represen- tatives from China Oceanis, IMI, Kingsford, Monde Nissin and URC. IMI CEO Art Tan added that he was, “certainly looking forward to the next one!” China Oceanis CEO Mr Lim, is pictured enjoying himself with JEC Philip- pines General Manager Guenter Taus who said, “the Oktoberfest is a great opportunity to get to know clients personally and forge deeper relationships”. Mr Alex Law, Manager of E&M contracting, participated in June’s DC and shared his experience from the 3-day intensive programme, “It was beneficial to get valuable feedback. Moreover, the exercises led to more self-awareness, indicating where my current strengths are and highlighting areas where I can make improvements. It was also a great opportunity to get to meet other executives and I was grateful for management’s investment of time and effort throughout the programme.”

Mr Tommy Ng, Sales Manager of JEC Singapore adds, “The DC has given me new insights into gauging strengths and weaknesses. Under severe scrutiny, we have all learnt a lot from the observers and their feedback, and I know that it will help me work more effectively from now on.”

機電合約工程部經理羅志偉先生參加了六月份的發展中心，對於這個三天的密集式課程，他有這樣的感想：「能夠獲得意見回饋實在獲益良多。有關活動亦令我更認識自己，因為它指出了我的強項及有待改進的地方。另外，能夠跟其他行政人員會面也是一個難得的機會。我十分感謝管理層為這個課程付出了時間及心力。」

Penn Yeung’s 19 Years at JEC 楊志強在怡和機器的19年歲月

Mr Penn Yeung, currently Operations Director of JEC Engineering and Product Development, started as an engineer and held various positions in Electrical & Mechanical Contracting at JEC. During his 19-year tenure at JEC, he has faced a wide range of challenges and opportunities. Regardless of setbacks like the 1997 economic crisis and SARS, Mr Yeung was able to learn, adapt and continuously improve with these challenges. JEC Runs in Central Rat Race 2007 怡和機器參加「鼠戰中環2007」

JEC’s team of participants, on 28 Octo- ber, 2007, joined the annual charity fund- raising event organised by Hongkong Land. The participants (known as ‘rats’ for the day), ran an eight-leg relay race, using briefcases as a batons, across Hong Kong’s Central district. Obstacles completed included courses such as ‘Fast Track’, ‘Job Maze’, ‘Corporate Lad- der’ and ‘Executive Training Boot Camp’, all along the approximately 2.5 km course. The event was an incredible success and raised HK$2.23 m for Mindset, raising awareness to mental health sec- tor in Hong Kong and Mainland China.

在2007年10月28日怡和機器之參賽隊伍，出戰由香港置地主辦之週年慈善籌款活動。參賽者（比賽當日被稱為「老鼠」）需進行一項八人接力賽，並以公事包代替接力棒，在香港的中環區奔走穿梭。在全長約2.5公里的賽道上，有多個含有障礙物的路段，例如「捷徑」、「工作迷宮」、「企業階梯」及「行政人員訓練營」等。該活動取得空前成功，並為慈善組織「思健」籌得223萬港元，以協助該組織於中港兩地喚起大眾對精神健康的關注。

JEC’s Polo Shirt Dress Day on 28 September, 2007 raised funds for Mindset. JEC’s Chief Executive, Mr James Graham invited all local Hong Kong JEC staff to wear JEC designed Polo Shirts to mark the ten years of achievement since Hong Kong was handed back to China in 1997. With JEC’s Caring Team organisation and planning, all staff participated in the event and donation collections, including staff from Central, Kowloon, Shau Kei Wan, and other project sites.

怡和機器於2007年9月28日舉行「Polo衫衣著日」，以為慈善組織「思健」籌募經費。怡和機器行政總裁關正仕先生邀請了全港的怡和機器員工穿起公司設計之Polo衫，以紀念香港自1997年回歸中國後創造出繁榮的十年。在怡和機器義工隊的悉心統籌及策劃下，所有員工都有參與活動並踴躍捐輸，當中包括中環、九龍、筲箕灣及其他業務地點的員工。

Mr Leung Ho Chun, Senior Technician of Building Equipment & Products, was recently recognised for his excellent performance in fire services engineering.

In the event organised by the Education and Manpower Bureau (Electrical & Mechanical Engineering Industry’s Skills Upgrading Scheme) on 26 June, 2007, he received an honorary award during the E&M Excellent Students’ Award Presentation Ceremony. Many congratulations to Mr Leung!

Congratulations to Mr Billy Chan, a second year JEC management trainee, for winning 2nd Prize for the Trainee of the Year Award organised by the JEC Management Trainee Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE). The award ceremony will take place on 18 January 2008, where Mr Chan will be presented with a scholar- Recognised as a ‘Trainee ship and a certificate for his prize. Organised by the HKIE, the Trainee of the Year Award is an open competition designed to motivate young engineers to build a positive development and professional attitude towards their career. This is the first time that JEC has submitted an entry into the competition, and once again JEC would like to congratulate Mr Chan for his pursuit of continuous improvement.
