NICKELODEON’S 2013 KIDS’ CHOICE AWARDS NOMINEES ARE UNVEILED

ADELE, ONE DIRECTION AND TAYLOR SWIFT MAKE SPACE ON THEIR MANTLE FOR THE ICONIC BLIMP AS THEY RECEIVE MOST NOMINATIONS FOR ’S KIDS’ CHOICE AWARDS 2013

London, 15th February 2013 – We’ve had the Golden Globes, The SAGs and the BAFTAs but now it’s time for the kids to have their say, as the nominees for the 26th Annual Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards are announced. As of today children can visit KCA2013.com to vote for their favourite stars of stage, screen and sports across seven UK specific and 22 international categories

This year’s big hitters include UK stars One Direction who are nominated for three awards: Favourite UK Band, Favourite Music Group and Favourite Song. Adele also flies the flag for the UK, nominated both the international and UK categories for Favourite Female Singer and Favourite UK Female Artist. Internationally, Taylor Swift scores three nominations: one for Favourite Voice from an Animated Movie (The Lorax), Favourite Song (“We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”) and Favourite Female Singer.

The 2012 Team GB Olympians continue their golden streak with Jessica Ennis, Mo Farah, Bradley Wiggins and Tom Daley competing for the sought-after blimp award for Favourite UK Sports Star. Robert Pattinson will attempt to defend his title of Favourite UK Actor against Andrew Garfield, Daniel Craig and Doctor Who’s Matt Smith.

The winners will be announced on Sunday 24th March by Hollywood’s biggest kid, Josh Duhamel, who will be hosting the slime-fest, broadcast from USC’s Galen Center. In the international categories, voted by children all over the globe, it’s a fight to the cinematic finish as Kids' Choice Awards former host and winner Will Smith, Johnny Depp and newcomer Andrew Garfield nabbed nominations for Favourite Movie Actor. Jennifer Lawrence, Kristen Stewart and Scarlett Johansson showed their muscle with dual nominations for Favourite Movie Actress and Favourite Female Butt-kicker.

In television, Miranda Cosgrove, Selena Gomez and Victoria Justice round out the Favourite TV Actress nominees, with iCarly, Wizards of Waverly Place and 2012 KCA winner also competing for Favourite TV Show. First time nominees Carlos Pena (), (Marvin Marvin), Jake T. Austin (Wizards of Waverly) and Ross Lynch (Austin &Ally) are tapped for Favourite TV Actor.

The 2013 Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards will be seen in more than 350 million households around the world and in more than 25 languages. Within hours of airing live in the United States and Canada, the show will roll out internationally, providing kids around the world the opportunity to tune into their local Nickelodeon channel to enjoy the show faster than ever. In many international markets, the 2013 KCAs will feature country-specific award categories and nominees, such as Favourite Asian Act and Favourite UK TV Show. Voting for the 2013 KCAs will span over six continents across 16 localised voting sites, giving kids practically everywhere the chance to decide who takes home a coveted blimp.

Ratings for the 2012 KCAs were up double-digits YOY internationally and the show was rated #1 in its timeslot among kid’s channels in key international markets, including the UK, Italy, Spain, Mexico and Singapore. It was ranked as basic cable’s top telecast for the week (26th March 2012– 1st April 2012) with 6.2 million total viewers and was the number-one telecast for the week with kids and tweens across all TV. The celebrity filled telecast scored the most votes in the show’s history - a record 223 million (+11%, over last year) votes were cast across Nick.com, Nick’s mobile site, a brand-new iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch apps, an iPad-optimised site, an application on Nick’s Facebook page and via Twitter and custom hash tags.

Nickelodeon’s 26th Annual Kids’ Choice Awards is being produced by Nickelodeon Productions in association with Bob Bain Productions. Bob Bain, Marjorie Cohn and Paula Kaplan are Executive Producers.
