Race specific regulations General rules The 2021 European Road Cycling Championships are organized by the Union Europeenne de Cyclisme in collaboration with the Italian Cycling Federation and the APT Trento, Monte Bondone, Valle dei Laghi. The event will be organized in accordance with rules of the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and these rules will be the reference for everything that is not mentioned in the current document. The European Road Championships consist of mixed team relay race, time trial races and road races are scheduled from 8 to 12 of September 2021. The Championships are exclusively open to national teams. TYPE OF THE EVENT The Championships are open to riders from the categories: • Junior Women • Junior Men • Women U23 • Men U23 • Elite Women • Elite men It is entered on the UCI calendar as a Continental Championships event (UCI CC).

    The President National Federations and Continental Confederations Organisers of the UCI International Road events, AIOCC UCI Road Teams, AIGCP, UNIO CPA Sent by email only Aigle, 5 May 2020 Ref: Presidency Restart of the UCI International Road competitions in the 2020 season Dear Presidents of National Federations and Continental Confederations, Dear organisers of the UCI International Road events, Dear UCI Road Teams’ Managers, The UCI has recently published a press release relating to the main lines of the UCI International Road Calendar for the end of the 2020 season, which makes it possible to envisage a resumption of international events in the coming months and today the UCI has also published the revised calendar of the UCI WorldTour and the UCI Women's WorldTour with the conclusion of the international Road cycling season on Sunday 8 November 2020. Given the exceptional circumstances that we are all facing, I would like to provide more details on the practical arrangements for the reorganisation of the 2020 UCI International Calendar and the UCI Regulations for the restart of the 2020 season, in response to the exceptional circumstances that we are all facing. Reorganisation of the end of 2020 season calendar The revised UCI WorldTour and UCI Women's WorldTour calendars have been announced today. The reorganisation process for all the other events for the end of the season will take place within a limited period of time including the publication of the dates of all other events of the UCI international calendar Men and Women before 20 May at the latest. As everyone can imagine, not all events can be rescheduled for the end of the season at their preferred date, and unfortunately not all the organisers' requests will be honoured.

    QUALIFICATION SYSTEM FOR THE 2016 UCI ROAD WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS The UCI Management Committee decides the qualification system each year. Individual Road Races Men Elite The qualification system is to be used in the order of the following provisions (1 to 4). 1. Qualification through the UCI World Ranking by nations (90 riders to start) A. The first 10 nations of the UCI World Ranking by nations on 22 August 2016: each nation may enter 9 riders to start. However, a nation with fewer than 9 riders classified in the top 300 of the individual UCI World Ranking on 22 August 2016 shall start with the number of riders that are classified in the top 300 of the aforementioned ranking. A nation with 6 or less riders classified in the top 300 of the individual UCI World Ranking can nevertheless start 6 riders. B. The nations that have fewer than 9 riders to start after provision 1.A. can complete their remaining athlete quota, by adding the places it would have received through their respective continental circuit but must not, however, exceed the athlete quota of 9 riders to start obtained in the UCI World Ranking by nations.* Riders classified in the top Maximum number Number of starters 300 of the individual UCI of starters that can World Ranking be added through continental circuit 9 0 9 8 1 Min 8 - Max 9 7 2 Min 7 - Max 9 6 or less 3 Min 6 - Max 9 * The places of the nations which have qualified through the UCI World Ranking by nations but are not allocated in regards of the provision 1.B.
